The View July 4th Recap: Behind the Scenes Re-run
Happy 4th of July to all my American readers! Today’s July 4th episode of The View is a re-run of the infamous “Behind the Scenes” episode which originally aired on May 30th. You can read my short recap here and also click that link to read all of the comments left on that episode if you have not done so yet. The consensus was that many of us were surprised at just how controlled the whole show is, even the seemingly on-the-fly jokes.
Today’s Watching the View hot topics question is certainly not one that they will be having on The View anytime soon. I think that Sherri and Elisabeth are the only ones who use the internet with any regularity, although Joy is addicted to her Blackberry, so maybe she is involved online somewhat.
With the exception of reading blogs like this one, checking e-mail or getting news, how involved are you in the online world? Do you restrict the involvement of your children online?
Prior to the time that I started writing this blog in January 2007, I had my own personal blog, but did not get involved in a lot of the social media and online communities. As part of trying to advertise this blog and bring in new readers, I signed up for a lot of different programs, some that I have liked way more than others.
If you are signed up with any of the sites below, please feel free to add me as a friend!
Sites that I love
Twitter (keep track of what I’m doing)
Friendfeed (get notified when I post blog entries, add photos to my Flickr account, and other fun things.
Goodreads (Find out what I’m readging. I just joined this one).

Facebook (I am hardly ever there).
Watching the View MySpace (I really never go there).

Happy 4th to Everyone. I hope everyone’s day is just dandy.

That is about the extent of my involvement with the Internet.
I did restrict my daughter’s involvement online, quite a bit.
We have one computer, in a family area. So I often had my eye on her. (which she hated).
No chat rooms except MSN. My Space, I had to have access to, or she hasn’t allowed to have it, and it had to be set to private. Of course as she got older, and I had more confidence in her maturity, I relaxed my watchful eye.

There is no question that the blogs, email, and news are a biggie in my life. Another big online service for me, is shopping. It is amazing to click on a site and search for almost anything in the world.

I can’t believe no one has commented on how they chose the food for Whoopi’s weigh-in. When I saw the show originally, I found it odd that she had such a high caloric breakfast, from McDonald’s no less. After watching the “behind the scenes” which was pre-empted originally where I live, I learned that they HAD to include it because some spy had called the show to report her cheating on her diet. I found that whole story fascinating. I still think that she was cheating but that the producers decided to cover it up by saying she had a heavy breakfast and then eats things like an apple and a couple of cashews the rest of the day.

We were off camping/hiking for the 4th so I am playing catch up.
I use online for my main source of news. We don’t have TV in our house, so we watch a couple shows online. Other than that, I just read blogs, message boards and shop some online. I don’t do any of the social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook.
If I did have kids, I would definitely restrict what they could do online and monitor it. I think it’s pretty irresponsible of parents that don’t.

Wow, seriously? :O
Apparently on Jimmy Kimmel, she mentioned how she took cigarettes on the bus (among other things). So I guess her ‘Kicking Butts’ campaign is scrapped? Has she given an update on her progress?
It’s a hard habit to quit. I think Whoopi was a bad choice for such a public campaign. She strikes me as someone who marches to her own beat when it comes to things like that.
