The View June 27th Recap: Bette Midler, The Kardashian Sisters, and Lance Burton

by

Today was thankfully the last day in Las Vegas for The View. I found the whole week to be rather boring, with the near-elimination of hot topics and the less than stellar guest line-up. Here is a very general recap, without going into detail, because it is not really worth it. Video clips of the Bette Midler interview and performance and the interview with the Kardashian sisters are below.

They talked about how much they lost/won at gambling. Whoopi could not understand why people read fitness magazines while working out. Elisabeth demonstrated doing lunges while reading and Whoopi had to hold her dress down to keep the wind from blowing it up.

Bette Midler talked about her new Vegas show called “The Showgirl Must Go On” which is at Caesar’s Palace. The show replaced Celine Dion’s show. Bette then performed the opening number of the show from the theater.

The Kardashian sisters were and talked about the traits of each sister. They think people watch the show because there are so many different characters and they are real and don’t hold back. Kim Kardashian is happy with boyfriend Reggie Bush and it is not true that she took out an insurance policy on her butt.

Magician Lance Burton came on and performed a trick where he sawed Barbara Walters in half. She pretended to be reluctant to do it, but you could tell it was pre-planned.

In the final moments of the show, Sherri was talking about how it was the last day and they were leaving Vegas and Whoopi corrected her and said that they have another show tomorrow. Whoopi obviously has not gotten the hang of the “pretend it is live on Friday when it is not” thing.

This show has definitely become a huge disappointment. Again with the polls about who reads Fitness magazine when you are working out. WHO CARES? This was almost as worse as the 10 minute infomercial for Walgreen’s with Whoopi we were treated to earlier this week. Wow this show must be desperate. Why didn’t we get a segment with the girls around Vegas, or checking out the newest Vegas acts. This opportunity was definitely wasted.

  2. Stephanie Says:

Well the show sounds like it sucked but atleast you made me laugh with your recap Winnie :)

  3. Lorian Says:

Oh, I agree with you regarding their visit to Vegas. It was soooo boring and just annoying, especially the first day. The sound from the wind in the microphones was unnerving. I usually only watch for the hot topics and there were none this week worthy of listening to. Thank goodness they will be back in studio next week.

  4. Meredith Says:

Vegas was one vapid week. So void of anything of substance. I found it embarrassing and wondered why that audience would brave the heat to sit and listen to the nothing blather from the view women and watch them interview no nothing talent such as Heidi and Spencer, the Kardashian sisters, Jessica Simpson, etc. Why are these people famous anyway? It boggles the mind.

  5. Avidviewer Says:

Wow am I glad this week is over. I agree this was the most boring week ever. Thank God for Bette Midler, she is entertaining, and so was Lance Burton even if it was staged with Barbara but I am soooorrrry the Kardashian girls?

  6. Aileeny Says:

Ok.. io saw a few episodes.. had nothing to comment.. I love me some Bette.. but for real folks… NO HOT TOPICS!! NUTTIN!! .. a sucky week

  7. msroncon Says:

What do the Kardashians and Heidi and Spencer have to do with Vegas.

Boring, boring, boring, I’m going to email the viewmaster I’m so po’d

  8. Dana Says:

I watched on Friday, and it didn’t look like they had much of a crowd and I can understand why. The shows have been awful. It’s that simple.
