The View March 19th Recap: Jaime Pressly and Troy Dunn
Today on the March 19th, 2009, episode of The View, all five hosts were present. Whoopi Goldberg started the show by saying “our hearts are broken” and their thoughts go out to the family of Natasha Richardson, who died last yesterday.
The next topic was that Carl Reiner is turning 87 tomorrow. Barbara Walters got an e-mail from Carl Reiner who said that he will be doing a new recording of the “2000 year old man” with Mel Brooks, after hearing them talk about it on The View last week. They had thought about doing a CD before, but decided to go forward with it after hearing Barbara talk about it on the show. Barbara made a joke that she goes with a 2000 year old man. Joy joked that to them she is jail bait.
Whoopi said, “speaking of jail bait . . .” in order to segue into Sherri’s being “irritated over some stuff.” (Was that the worst segue ever?) Sherri is upset that there is no one television that looks like her. Whoopi said, “You mean nighttime TV. Cause you just gotta look over,” pointing to herself. Sherri said that she meant on nighttime TV, where they are canceling a lot of shows that feature minorities. Then the other hosts pointed out that she has a pilot she is working on. Sherri said, “thank goodness for cable,” because they are allowing more minorities on. Barbara said that they did some checking and there are 20 shows on network TV that feature one or two black people. She said that is not a small number and compared to 10 years ago it is not quite as bleak.
Sherri said that there are 70 pilots being developed with white leads and only four with black leads. Elisabeth said that it might just be a token black person on those shows. Sherri said, “Yeah, that was me.” Barbara said that she doesn’t think that the networks are doing it intentionally. Sherri said that minorities need to get behind the camera and into production, the way that Tyler Perry has done. Elisabeth said that because of Barack Obama, the expectation has been raised. Joy joked that she wanted to speak up for the Chinese. She also joked that there were way too many Italians on the Sopranos. Whoopi said that she has had the same argument for 23 years and most of her roles were not written for her and would have had white leads. She said that Color Purple was written for her (Does she mean the book? Did Alice Walker know when she wrote the book it would be a movie?), but Jumpin’ Jack Flash was written for Shelley Long and Sister Act was written for Bette Midler. Barbara said, “interesting.” (Didn’t sound like she meant it)
Barack Obama will be on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight. Joy said, “good.” She said that they are knocking him on television this morning because he should not be making light of things. Whoopi said that anyway he can connect with the American people is good. Saying that if he was in NYC he would probably be on their show because he loves Barbara. Barbara pointed out that there are no black late-night comedians. Sherri said that Arsenio Hall was the last black person in late-night. Whoopi raised her hand and said that she was the last black person in late-night and the only female. Elisabeth thinks that maybe Jay can get some answers from President Obama about some important issues. Sherri said that she likes that Obama is doing town hall meetings, which gave Elisabeth the chance to go to the way back machine and talk about how he didn’t want to do the town hall meetings during the election. So much for “moving forward.” Whoopi wants him to come visit because their audience has questions for him. Joy pointed out that George Bush was on vacation 1/3 of his administration but never came on the show. Barbara said “he is gone. We’ve moved on.”
In the next segment, they played a video of a project that a teacher did where the students recorded themselves talking about their concerns about the economy and tearfully told how it was affecting their families. Whoopi said that kids are under so much pressure. Elisabeth said they need more communication in the home and may kids are having to defer college because of costs. She said that the kids need a shot, especially in terms of international competition. Barbara said it is hard for parents because they don’t know how much to tell the children. Whoopi said that you have to tell them. Whoopi talked about a young woman she met who started Splash Life that helps kids through tough times. The woman was a teenager with lack of motivation. A mentor told her to spend time with the homeless, which she did, then turned her life around. She know dedicates herself to helping youth. Whoopi read some statistics about the
Barbara then made a point of telling Sherri, as follow-up to a conversation that they had during the break, that Sherri was not hired because she is black, but because she is wonderful. Sherri said that she appreciates that no where else can you turn on the TV and see two African-Americans sitting at the table. Then Joy asked if she was hired because she is white. Sherri said that Barbara is the perfect example of color-blind casting. Whoopi then used her Valley Girl voice to say that this is freaking her out because she was so sure that she was hired because she was black. Barbara said that “character” is her favorite thing and Whoopi does that just for her.
In the next segment, Joy talked about her new children’s book, Sheetzucacapoopoo 2: Max Goes to the Dogs, which comes out today. They played a clip of her dog Max being “interviewed” by James Lipton, in a parody of his “Inside the Actor’s Studio.” Joy will be signing books at the Barnes & Noble in Lincoln Center today.
Jamie Pressly, star of the new movie I Love You, Man, appeared on the show. Her son will be two in May. She gained 42 pounds with the pregnancy, calling herself a “tub” at 156 pounds. She said that she worked out very hard, starting when her baby was 10 days old. She was a gymnast and a dancer when she was younger, so it was easier to get back in shape.
The movie is a “bromantic comedy” which is the opposite of a chick flick. She said it is a great date movie and good for men and women. I find her extreme/orangey tan to be very distracting. Is it just my TV?
Jamie said that behind closed doors, without men, women can be very vulgar and talk about every sexual detail. Barbara said, “Like us.” Whoopi said “I don’t need to close the door.” Jamie continued that once men fall in love, they stop talking about the details of their sex life, because they don’t want their male friends to be thinking about their girlfriend or wife that way. Whoopi said that she needs to check her genitalia again.
Jamie got the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She said that the moment of winning was very surreal and she had to pinch herself to see if it was real. It was an intimidating moment being on the stage with the crowd all around her, since the stage was in the round.
Betty White will be guest-starring on My Name is Earl tonight. They played a clip. Jamie also has a new book called It’s Not Necessarily Not the Truth: Dreaming Bigger Than the Town You’re From. The book includes her life growing up, being on her own since she was 15, and her bout with bulimia. She said, going back to what Whoopi said earlier in the show about helping children, that people should give kids a hand where they can, because without people who helped her when she was a kid, she would not be where she is today.
Troy Dunn from The Locator also appeared on the show. I feel like he was just on the show, but I checked and it was October. Still, are two appearances by this guy really necessary in such a short period of time? He was accompanied by a man named Chris Zerbe who searched for his biological father with the help of Dunn. Dunn was able to locate his father, but learned that he had died. Barbara said it was eerie that Chris played basketball growing up and in college and his father died while playing basketball. Chris also learned that he had a brother and a sister that he did not know about. Elisabeth teared up at the clip of Chris meeting his siblings. (Hmm. Am I just heartless or was this segment really not that moving?)
The brother and sister were in the audience. The brother said that had his father known about Chris he would have been there for him. Dunn’s research revealed that his dad never knew he existed. The sibling and their families all went on vacation together.
When the show came back for the good-bye segment, Barbara said that most people know that she has adopted daughter who she adores, but she also has other children that she has not acknowledged. Then she motioned to her co-hosts and said, “these are my biological children.” Joy put her finger to her head like a gun and pulled the trigger. Barbara said she is so proud of all of them.

Clink the link for Joy’s appearance on GMA this morning. Larry King last night talked up Joy’s new kids book. He seems like he really really just absolutely loves her. I wonder if he’ll mention Elisabeth’s book.
I hope the panel discusses Dubya getting millions for his memoirs. Maybe it’ll be a pop-up book with pictures and everything.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:58 am
#1 Do the Bushes have a dueling memoirs thing going? Rumors say that Laura was already writing a tell-all, so maybe he is trying to distract from hers.
She’s a real lady, so I’m a leetle skeptical ’bout whether she would tattle much.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:58 am
Susieq - Thanks for the “clink - a - link” .
March 19th, 2009 at 8:59 am
W’s book- written in crayon???
March 19th, 2009 at 9:01 am
Oh lord!!
Barbara is on the show today
March 19th, 2009 at 9:04 am
It’s jewelry gone wild on the panelists today.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:05 am
Thankfully the panel just offered their condolences about Natasha Richardson and left it at that. Let the family grieve in peace.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:07 am
Yes, Elisabeth is now the voice on race in broadcasting.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:10 am
Prediction: Elisabeth is going to demand equal time for a Republican leader on Leno.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:11 am
Maybe I’m naive but I would like to see shows cast colorblind.
President Obama is just trying to reach a large audience and is willing to put himself in a position where the questions aren’t so scripted. Bush couldn’t have handled being on Sesame Street. Although he might have learned how to spell.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:11 am
Joan Rivers had a late night show, Whoopi.
Elisabeth, shut up, shut up, shut up! Jay Leno should “debate” the president according to her! STFU!
March 19th, 2009 at 9:12 am
Pepperbird, first the Republicans have to decide on a leader. Hey I hear Tim Hasselbeck has some free time, maybe he’s bucking for the position.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:14 am
I think its cool that the president is going on jay it is a way to reach out I’m sure.
There are no black people on Big love but it still a great show so I”ll will not protest. lol. lol at joy and i would like to speak up for the asains. funny yes but true there are very few show with asains and latino also but it how hollywood works.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Bern, Joan Rivers was on LKL last night. She’s probably roughly around BW’s age right? I tell you what, JR handles herself soooo much better than BW. When she name drops it doesn’t seem like name dropping. Unlike BW who has to explain to us peasants who everyone is.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:15 am
I am very understanding of Sherri Shepherd wanting more diverse casts on shows. I don’t disagree with her, but she would help her argument if she would stop saying that she wants to see more people “who look like her”. That lowers the argument to a schoolyard level and makes it seems silly. She’s right. She’s just not respresenting it well to people who may not understand.
Barbara: “The Man Who Is Two Thousand Years Old”. Argh!
March 19th, 2009 at 9:18 am
I would prefer letterman but jay is cool for obama
it would help minorities cause if they did not play into streoypre when they take parts or work on pilots. it would be better.
xoxo
March 19th, 2009 at 9:21 am
When it comes to race on TV, I dont notice…. I dont think that a show is better or worse depending on the race of the characters.
I dont know if that makes me progressive or it says I just dont pay attention.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:21 am
Barbara is completely out-of-touch. The valley girl voice is her favorite OR she is a nasty horrible woman who is completely passive-aggressive with her audience the way she is with her daughter!
March 19th, 2009 at 9:22 am
My problem with Sherri’s argument is I’m kinda getting the feeling she means she wants to see characters that act like her. She has a “persona” she uses quite a bit and honestly I would rather see characters that aren’t necessarily written as black or white.
IMO it seems insulting to write characters as “black”. What does “black” mean.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:23 am
susq you put in words what iwa trying to get at wiht my # 16 thanks. and bern yes she BW is slapping us in the face
March 19th, 2009 at 9:25 am
Bern, check your email.
Yes Mibi, that was exactly what I was trying to say. I like Tyler Perry but some of his characters are very stereotypical. Actually Entertainment Weekly just did an article about that. Whether he hurts or helps Black Hollywood.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:25 am
#19, I think that confusion about her point is the reason that she needs to refine the argument and present it better.
I think the best example is The Bernie Mac Show (grilled cheese rest his soul). There were “black” cultural references, but it was just a show about a family. There is a way to have a great balance.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:25 am
#12 susieq, Touche! Maybe Rush, Ann, and O’Lielly can take Jay on.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:26 am
OK Mibi, you’re my new BFF. Sorry Bern, Mibi is on my wavelenth today.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:30 am
It’s almost as if it’s a trap. If “black” shows portray their characters in a certain way they’re accused of being stereotypical but then if they show the characters in non-stereotypical ways they’re accused of not being “black” enough. I’m curious how Sherri’s show is going to be.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:30 am
Why do they keep doing this??
An interview with a dog? Dead air would be just as creative and interesting.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:33 am
#18 berndoubt I read BW’s Valley girl voice endorsement to indicate that someone has been noticing distaste for it in the blogs. It’s the equivalent of Barbara sticking her tongue out at us.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:33 am
#25 susieq–
I’m curious how Sherri’s show is going to be.
personally, I think it is gonna be a stereotypical show. degrading humor, and “maybe” the “token” white character
March 19th, 2009 at 9:34 am
#26, agreed, terrible piece with James Lipton. Total waste of time.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:36 am
Umm, I don’t know what to say, but I think she seemed ticked off with someone. Is it just me or did BW seem a bit defensive with her? Right off the bat telling Sherri she ‘didn’t want to start an argument’ with her?
And then after the break BW says they were still talking about it and she made a point to tell Sherri she was hired because she was wonderful, not because she was black.
WTH?
And Sherri she needs to stop referring to Pres. Obama as Barack.. it is disrespectful.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:40 am
Whoopi: “I’d better check my genitalia”: the perfect reality-slap for Jaime Pressly and her idiotic generalizations about all men and all women.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:42 am
I like Jamie Pressly.
It was a good interview too… the hosts asked their question and they let her answer it.
I wish they could have more interviews like this one.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:42 am
Elisabeth: “Tonight on Earl there’s a guest. There’s an amazing guest star tonight on the show. Tell us about it.”
GUEST Jaime Pressley: “The amazing Betty White.”
Elisabeth: “Right.”
March 19th, 2009 at 9:45 am
Well, Bern, Betty White is outspoken animal lover is so of course Elisabeth would have no use for her.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:46 am
#33 Right, berndoubt. EH and Pressly: when two mind vacuums meet. Two mental black holes.
March 19th, 2009 at 9:51 am
Here we go again – the same notes again.
Why wasn’t Elisabeth Hasselbeck concerned about AIG under the Bush Admin?
-Bush deregulation created the AIG fiasco and economic collapse
-Bush Republicans refused to vote on the bailout unless all provisions were removed
-Bush bailed out AIG twice before – including bonuses and corporate parties
-Bush’s Paulson negotiated all the terms of the bailout that benefited the banks – AIG – and CEOs – NO strings attached. ALL the bailout money they spent was given without stipulations. Half the money is gone and the PRESS didn’t say a word. Only the blogs talked about bonuses under Bush. This was all done purposefully – and behind the public’s back. Bush’s declaration that the AIG tax-funded party was disgraceful was a ruse. Bush went on to bail them out a second time, after his pubic outrage, without stipulations AGAIN. AND Paulson added language that would allow troubled banks to be bought up by larger banks without tax penalties – further eroding the recovery of our tax dollars and costing us billions. And Elisabeth said NOTHING.
Now we have the same thing again – another AIG bailout followed by bonuses. This time the Main Street Media is awake – imagine that.
-Dodd changed the provisions and lied about it when asked by CNN
-Treasury staffers fought against it – but didn’t repeal it for fear of lawsuits from AIG
-It appears Obama found out after the fact – and TOOK the blame for ALL of it – can anyone picture a Republican doing that?
Don’t re-elect Dodd- reprimand Geithner and get about the business of fixing the mess Bush left behind. Obama’s administration inherited the worse mess ever left behind by a former invalid president. We’re lucky any sane person would take the job.
You want to talk about vacations Elisabeth? Why don’t you take an open-ended one.
And why would Obama agree to town hall meetings with McCain? So he could spend his valuable time explaining he’s not a Muslim socialist Kenyan terrorist named Barry Hussein? Please. He did the right thing. Obama KILLED McCain in the town hall-style debate against McCain anyway. How many times do you want to see McCain tenderized in public EH?
March 19th, 2009 at 9:51 am
Barbara, has your Jackie tried to find her “real” parents?
March 19th, 2009 at 9:52 am
I was highlighting Bitsy’s “amazing” interview skills only. I cast no aspersions when it comes to Jaime Pressly.
I’m not loving the way they’re doing this whole reunion segment with Troy Dunn.
“Kristin when you see that it brings everything back.” She tries to say something and Barbara interrupts her.
This show sucks!
March 19th, 2009 at 10:02 am
peper i belive jackie said she did not wish to find her biological parents per BW.
love jamie prestly.
Kelly. Eh and other repubs only care about this now. hello it only matters when dems do things. it the blue dog dems that get me.
the interview it the locator had a few tense (for lack of better word ) moments
March 19th, 2009 at 10:08 am
#39 Thanks mibi for the information. I wonder if Jackie has expressed interest lately in looking for her biological parents? That could explain recent tension beween BW and Jackie and why BW said she has had some private contacts with the locator herself.
March 19th, 2009 at 10:40 am
Although Sherri’s point is valid, her regular rants are coming off as constant griping rather than thoughtful discussion. Someone mentioned on this blog the other day that she is giving cheesy shout-outs to anyone who is black and on tv. The fact is that 50% of the regular panel she sits on each day is black, and yet she seems to want to yell at Barbara about this. Barbara says we have come a long way, but I’m not too sure about that. I may be naive here, but personally I don’t care what race or color the hosts on the View are, I just hope they are talented, entertaining, are properly prepared before they walk onstage and earn their paychecks while we spend our valuable time watching. I grew up in what was considered to be an affluent, whitebread town, and yet every week we gathered in front of the tv to watch The Jeffersons and Good Times. During much of the 80’s, the #1 show was The Cosby Show, with A Different World not far behind. Naive again, maybe, but I think if a show is good, people will watch it. Those shows were a long time ago, so maybe we have not come a long way. The point I would like to see them make when they discuss this on the View, but as far as I know, they haven’t is this: Sherri mentioned that out of 70 pilots this year, only four feature black leads. Could it be they are taking their cues from current and recent top-rated shows. Out of at least 17 installments of The Bachelor/The Bachelorette, an ABC show they shamelessly plug ad nauseum, there has not been one black Bachelor or Bachelorette out of at least 17 installments. On Dancing With the Stars, although I could be wrong, I haven’t watched it this year, there is not one black dancer in the cast of the professional dancers.
March 19th, 2009 at 10:42 am
I noticed in the recap that Jaime Pressly mentioned she battle bulimia (which I missed when I first sort of watched today) and also said she was a tub at 156. Seems like maybe she’s not over her problem yet. And I did hear Bitsy chime in and tell Jaime to “remind” her to take off the baby weight after she has spawn number three. What a lovely message for women everywhere.
Have I mentioned that this show sucks?!?
March 19th, 2009 at 10:52 am
#41 Good points, ds.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:02 am
OH MY GOSH….Sherri shut up!! Oh I just figured it out…she wants an NAACP award.
I understand that there are not nearly the minority shows on, but give me a break. Having Barack Obama as our President is not going to encourage networks to have more black sitcoms. He’s half white too Sherri, remember. What an idiot.
I was blinded by Jaimie Pressley’s tan. WOW, tone it down.
#15 berndoubt right on.
Sherri has been on TV for quite some time and she happens to be on two popular shows. 30 Rock and The View. Why can’t she start helping give a hand up to her “girls”
Also, Whoopies’s valley girl impression could be construed as mocking white people. BW says that’s her favorite….WHAT????
March 19th, 2009 at 11:07 am
FROM RECAP: “which gave Elisabeth the chance to go to the way back machine and talk about how he didn’t want to do the town hall meetings during the election.”
MY RESPONSE: Oh boohoo. wahhhhhhhhhhh!
Why should he have done town hall meetings? He had just cinched the Democratic nomination after an extensive and emotional battle with then-Senator Hillary Clinton. He needed to reach a broader amount of people and start to heal the party after a contentious battle. Town halls was not what he needed to do at that point in time.
I’m surprised Bits is still gnawing on her bone regarding the town halls. Did people really want to see that? Weren’t the various debates enough? What about that town hall meeting where they each took questions from the audience? Was that not enough?
I’m not even sure why so many people were touting how great McCain did in town halls. From what I saw, he was really not impressive. He reminded me of a wooden stick; flat, bland, nothing to really write home about. And that creepy smile….ick
Another thing; it’s funny the Rush Limbaugh dittoheads are squacking how Pres. Obama can only speak using a teleprompter YET Pres. Obama is out talking TO the people and they STILL complain? WTF?
March 19th, 2009 at 11:11 am
#37 - with all due respect, her “real” parents are the ones that raised her. Having a baby does not a mother make (see EH for 2+ examples).
Sherri needs to come down about 3 notches. Relax - you’re lucky you have your job, Sweetie, regardless of your color.
EH is an idiot. Going on and on and on about Bush…..besides lying on her back with her legs in the air, what is she good for?
March 19th, 2009 at 11:12 am
#44, um…that’s not what I said at all in #15…read it again…and I disagree that Whoopi is mocking white people…she’s mocking Valley Girls…my problem with the impression is that it is old and dated and not funny…wow…please don’t read anything else into my posts…thanks.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:12 am
What? Pressly didn’t mention that she got a divorce along the way after baby? I did read that somewhere.
EH had to act like Pressly was her best friend. She sickens me to the core. Two bimbos, EH the twit can’t wait to get in her 1 cent remark that Jay and Prez Obama should get us some answers when they “debate” tonite.
EH, talking between two people isn’t always a debate…like someone earlier said on here,
“Shut up!”. Maybe you’ll learn something.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:15 am
#46 Julianne, your comment about #37 , I know you are more than capable of defending yourself, Pepper, but I want to mention that Barbara herself never, ever misses an opportunity to mention that Jackie was adopted.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:17 am
I remember many, many years ago I was listening to Rush Limbaugh (yeah, I know, shame on me, but he was nowhere near as bad as he is now)
Anyway, they were discussing the Cosby Show and someone called in, said they were black, and were complaining how unrealistic the Cosby Show was.
I was floored.
I guess some people are only comfortable when black people are shown enacting the usual stereotypes. I guess I feel how can someone aspire to be better than they are if they are only shown negative images of people that look like them?
March 19th, 2009 at 11:18 am
#44. “Also, Whoopies’s valley girl impression could be construed as mocking white people.”
Good point, msroncon, I never thought of it that way. But if Joy, EH, or BW habitually trotted out some “girl in the hood” type persona, the $#%! would hit the fan. Plus, the whole valley girl thing is soooo not funny. To normal people, that is.
Let’s see- Pres. Obama has the nerve to take his coat off in the Oval Office, read from a teleprompter (getting those facts/figures right is so elitist), and hasn’t fixed the economy in the last 12 weeks? What!? And the worse thing of all? Mrs. Obama dares to show off her toned arms by wearing (gasp!), sleeveless dresses.
One of my creepiest memories of McCain was the horrible “my friends” that he used ad nauseum.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:21 am
#49 - It was not my intention to make any one feel that they needed to defend themselves. If that’s how it was taken, I apologize.
It was my intention to clarify words such as “real” in that context. As I’m adopted (and guessing that, mathmatically, I’m one of the few), and found my biological parents before it was what was done, I know that I’ve had some experience with this.
Changing the subject - yes, being orginally from SoCal, it could be considered somewhat offensive that WG does the Valley Girl voice. I left for a reason, so it doesn’t really bother….but I follow that line of thinking.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:26 am
#52, I happen to agree with your point regarding “real” parents. It’s just that when you start something off with the phrase “with all due respect”, it sounds like a debate, invoking natural tendencies to defend.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:28 am
Diana Says: “Good point, msroncon, I never thought of it that way. But if Joy, EH, or BW habitually trotted out some “girl in the hood” type persona, the $#%! would hit the fan. ”
MY RESONSE: Yep, gotta agree.
Doesn’t Whoopi take umbrage whenever Sherri uses certain voices when talking about members in her family? Why is Whoopi the only one that is allowed to take on personas? I mean, at least Sherri is impersonating members in her family, who happen to be black.
And sorry, but Whoopi sounds like a complete and utter idiot when she does that voice. It’s almost as bad as that crappy tacky leopard print dress she wore. yuck
March 19th, 2009 at 11:32 am
Where to begin? Ok, Sherri, sweetie, enough! Show biz is a revolving door. Let’s not go there! You know there are plenty of talented black people. Some prominent, some not. Shows get cancelled, yes. You aren’t doing too shabby. Don’t kiss BW’s. I would not say ‘color blind’. Again, Whoopi takes the prize, IMO as the least color blind. Yes, she does voice concerns OIAW. Color Pur. wttn for her, though?? Sherri sure did her research. 70 pilot, really? But doesn’t know about CB. I don’t think I want to see a bunch of Hispanic shows on TV. They don’t always get it right. ‘Yes, papa, I will do dat.’ No 1 I knw tlks like tht! ***BW referring to her daughter as ‘adopted’,?????Rosie hated ref. to her kids as adopted. ‘I’m Mommy’ The panel, biological. Ha, JB was thrilled. The Locator too moving? eh!
March 19th, 2009 at 11:41 am
UM I pretty sure there are black valley girls. my cousin being one of them but the point about doing a hood voice is taken thought i’m sure ther is a way and a show in which it has been done.
gtg to work but xoxo
March 19th, 2009 at 11:45 am
STFU lissie! OMG that girl drives me right off the edge.
Its like everything she says is suppose to be fact
Listen you little bimbo, you were on a reality show, your not a actress, star or anything as far as show biz goes.
You were picked to be on The View cause you would show your assets off to BG.
Pretty soon the stool will be brought out so she can prop her legs up and out or him.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:49 am
#41 ds…I totally agree Sherri needs to STFU
about all the “black” issues…it’s people like her that keep stirring the “pot” so to
speak. God hang it up already. Maybe she can use her “influence” now that she’s a star
LOL….There is nothing appealing about her AT ALL…

Bring Jaime Pressly aboard. Gee, wiz!! Wants to talk about sex in great detail, body issues, and that voice! Is that some geographical equivalent of the Valley Girl voice? Perfect fit! Fretting over turning 30! Fighting bulimia, but being a ‘tub’ @ 156 lbs.? I want to be 30 and 156 lbs.! I would feel so fine. Honey, if you don’t, then yes, you should feel self conscious, not physically, though. Have never been so irritated by a guest b4.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:53 am
Mibi: Kerry Washington who happens to be a black actress is as annoying as EH - and I have seen her on Real Time With Bill Maher and she sounded pretty *valley girl* to me at times. I absolutely cannot stand Kerry Washington. Whoopi on the other hand was doing her Valley Girl schtick back in the late 1960s….guess she finds it hard to let it go….and also she is a BW arsekisser and if BW likes her Valley Girl voice, rest assured that Whoopi will continue to do it because BW likes it. That’s what arsekissing is all about, isn’t it? *lol*
Here’s a tidbit - in one of my catalogues (I’m a cataloger) - I saw “Audition” on sale for $12.95, less than half the price it was originally selling for. Betcha it is even cheaper on ebay or craigslist. *snickers*
I would think some adopted people/parents might seek out their biological parents or biological history regarding family medical history.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:53 am
I don’t understand the irritation at Sherri for discussing things in terms of how they affects the black community. I thought she should elevate the argument to make people understand her point, but she is certainly in a position to comment on the issue. Why, after YEARS of having to listen to the alleged Republican view on every stinking issue, is it not o.k. to present the black view? I don’t think Sherri makes her point well, but I think she has a great point.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:54 am
#53 - thank you for that clarification.
Oddly, when someone says “with all due respect” to me, I feel they’re being respectful and NOT starting a debate. However, you telling me that was how it was did make me feel that I needed to defend myself. I’m going to see what I can learn about myself from that.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:55 am
#61, it should read “how they affect the black community” without the “s”
March 19th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
It does seem like BW doesn’t like Sherri very much. She takes every opportunity to “correct her”. I didn’t really think the SNL skit portrayed SS very well at first, but now I’m starting to think that it was pretty accurate.
Mibi, thanks for pointing out that there are black valley girls! Lol, I’ve just never heard any black female speak in the “valley girl” voice. My mind just goes to the blond valley girl stereotype.
In fact, does anyone really use that accent anymore? Except for the hilarious WG, who was the only black female to have a late-night talk show (really?), who inspired “Celie” of “The Color Purple”, staunch defender of all “celebrities”. Of course, I’m not buying that late night talk show thing because, after all, I wasn’t there. I just don’t know.
March 19th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
#62, yes. When I hear that, I say ‘uh,oh, bring it on!’. Also, ‘can I ask you a question?’ Already, you know that’s a question that shouldn’t be asked ITFP. ‘Not to be mean, but…’, ‘I didn’t mean to sound…’ Yup, they’re all preparing you for the worst. Is BW mocking the prior guests. ‘I’ve never mentioned my ‘bio.’ children’?!?!?. Just after young people were emotionally telling their stories. Wow, sensitive!.*Ooh, Pres. Obama is on!! Sherri, he’s Mr. President for you, and Senator b4 that. He’s not YOUR friend, but OUR president!
March 19th, 2009 at 12:07 pm
Stacee says: “Another thing; it’s funny the Rush Limbaugh dittoheads are squacking how Pres. Obama can only speak using a teleprompter YET Pres. Obama is out talking TO the people and they STILL complain? WTF?”
PLEASE – Bush had more wires and rigging than Abu Ghraib Detainees(scratch) – than Howdy Doody.
President Obama is a masterful orator and skillful writer.
We really should take up a fund – and purchase more straws for the Republicans to grasp. Inventory HAS to be low. Of course, it does keep the attention off of Bush’s Iraq War.

When i think of good black shows, I think of the Cosby living single, Martin Those where some good written shows no stereo type just good. And Sherry do have a great point but she need to come off as i don’t know the way she put it don’t sound right, But her referring to every body hate Chris & The game she was right because CW canceled A lot of black shows. But the other stuff i don’t know. What type of black show she want a all black show or what. Because if that it give me a show like living single any day. But Sherry come off as dumb when making her point like when she said something and Barbra cut her off it like she lost something what you guys think.
March 19th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
#44 msroncon: “Sherri shut up!! Oh I just figured it out…she wants an NAACP award”.
Good catch!! Didn’t the show just win some award like that? I can see BW and BG prodding Sherri to be their spokes-puppet.
March 19th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
kerry washington is okay by me.
havent’t noticed her voice “imperfection”.
sherri had a valid point but, she didn’t present it very well.
elizabeth is unable to function without her daily dig at president obama.
i don’t watch the view anymore because i fully irritated by it.
i enjoy the recaps and comments sections to keep up with the show.
i can’t thank you enough, winnie.
March 19th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Yes, ‘Living Single’ was a great show.
‘The Game’ was good, now it’s kind of blah.
‘Girlfriends’ used to be really good, but after the actress that played “Toni” left, it slid downhill fast.
March 19th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
#46 Julianne That question I asked Barbara in #37 was meant as satire, hopefully humorous.
I didn’t mean to be insensitive to someone in our blog audience who is adopted. Anyone adopted: please, please accept my apology if that post inadvertently offended or hurt.
#49 ds: “…I want to mention that Barbara herself never, ever misses an opportunity to mention that Jackie was adopted.”
That’s what I was thinking too. Although I am not adopted, I would be extremely annoyed if my adoptive parent kept telling the world that she took me in and raised me (to make herself look benevolent).
I think Barbara would be jealous of Jackie’s biological parents, and might feel threatened if Jackie tried to find them. Jackie is capable of trying that just to push Barbara’s hot buttons, or she might genuinely want to know her parents’ medical history.

#64 Diana: Wasn’t the friend in “Clueless” kind of a black valley girl?
March 19th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Miamivision, I don’t care for Kerry Washington either, I don’t know, she just comes across as abrasive to me.
Stacee, I LOVED Living Single.
Pepperbird, yep Stacy was her name. I just saw a bit of Clueless the other day on cable.
I posted yesterday that BW mentions Jackie being adopted, and lo and behold she mentioned it AGAIN today. I am not adopted nor do I have an adopted child but I’m assuming for most families involved in adoption, it would be something that isn’t brought up daily.
March 19th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Hi southernexplosion:
I don’t really have an opinion on Sherri’s comments. No dog in this fight. I would like to see more Latinos personally. Tall dark 50% Latinas named “Kelly” preferably.
But I will say if Sherri is doing The View, 30 Rock and now a new sitcom – when does she see Jeffrey? This little baby she forced her body to have through in vitro – giving birth prematurely and nearly loosing him. When does she plan to spend time with him now that she’s making more than enough money to support him?
She’ll never get these years back. She should drop 30 Rock and if her sitcom gets picked up – she should drop The View. Sitcoms are a lot of work. Unhappy mommies make unhappy children.
Did you all know Sherri’s husband was on this site before? He was NOT happy (if it was really him).

Jeff Tarpley Says:
February 21st, 2008 at 12:48 pm
I watched the view today and Sherri said something that provoked me to write. Regarding the McCain story Sherri said and I quote: “I’m feeling for Sydney McCain because you don’t know whether to be upportive….for me. Because it happened to me I’m looking at that face and I’m looking at that face thinking please don’t let anything come up that I don’t know about and I hope it’s not true. it’s very hard for the wife. because you’re in the position where you have to publicly defend this person and I hope to God your not lying”
Well if Sherri would keep her fat mouth shut no one would know about her marital issues. SHE(Sherri) is the New York Times. She uses EVERY opportunity to bring up how she is publicly humiliated by her Divorce. If you didn’t hear her hang around for 10 minutes and she’ll remind you again. If the View has a guest thats divorced Sherri has to say “Hey I’m Divorced to!!!. If the View has a guest that is in a movie playing a woman thats cheated on Sherri would say “Hey I got cheated on in real life!!!!” Sherri could hear that Roger Clemens is accused of cheating in Baseball because he took Human Growth Hormones Sherri would say “Hey my husband cheated to…..ON ME!!!” Sherri should realize that she is very different than Cindy McCain. Cindy McCain is next to her husband supporting him. She isn’t flying off to a job in another city abandoning her child. Cindy McCain isn’t using her Marital issues and her son’s issues as a platform.
If she knew anything at all about Politics maybe she would have something else to say. I am no longer going to stand by and hope she gets some class and stop talking about our private life. It’s obvious that that’s not going to happen. I have to come down to the level of Stupidity and Ignorance to meet her.
I just don’t have a TV show to use my misfortunes as fodder for humor…..Yet.
Jeff
Hey Sherri you son is doing fine today… If you care to know.

On Good Morning America, in Joy’s interview she explained that her new book, “Sheetzucacapoopoo: My Kind of Dog,” is a kind of parable about Barak Obama and his positive changes in our government. I don’t recall that she mentioned this idea on the View….instead they had that unfunny interview of the dog.
Why wouldn’t Joy bring out the Obama theme on the View too? Was she afraid of what Elisabeth might make of it?
If she is linking Obama to this fictional dog, why is she including at least 3 synonyms for dog excrement in the title? Buh, Joy?? I thought you liked Obama and supported him.

Well I am going to throw my two cents in on Sherry’s comment on how the shows of color are getting canceled.
The first thing that came to mind was:
- Most of these shows had a good run and shows only last so long before the material gets old.
- You can’t expect to have people of color as the staff of the shows, behind the camera and producing to make a show good. Ratings are required that would lend a budget to continue filming a show.
- You can’t expect people to watch a show of color just to ensure they stay on the air.
- Plenty of shows with people of no color get canceled for all the same reasons.
If viewership is not present, then a show tanks. Its simple as that! If Tyler Perry is behind a show (whom I love) You betcha that the staff is of color and if he gets cancelled, again its due to viewership.
Very few shows stay afloat in the non reality forum and writers have been complaining for some time now. I do not see this as an issue of color but times are a changing. Producers will put on TV what people want to watch. Viewership and rating lends the budget to produce.
Now movies are a different story. I see Whoops point there. Most movies where not scripted for someone like her and she was an after thought for casting where the movie did really well inspite of it. This is a different issue all together and I think that is the real problem.
I’m just saying…
March 19th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
just wanted to say i was annyoed with WG grandstanding about president obama going on the view if he is in NY as if he thinking about them.
Whoppi if he did come to ny and did want a forum to speak he could choose GMA or REgis or hell a press confernce or even late night again and skip the view and guess what you have to deal with it and the view does not run the world or the political world
that is all back work.
March 19th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Why would President Obama,(btw Sherri, that’s what he should be called now, only Michelle gets and to call him Barack, and you ain’t Michelle) come on the View? So Elisabeth can go speak at a Republican function and insinuate things about him.
If all the movies Whoopi mentioned weren’t originally for her but for white actors, then shouldn’t she take it as a compliment they chose her to do the parts, rather than feel insulted? She’s making it sound like every screenwriter should write roles specifically for her. She’s really been getting on my nerves lately. Maybe it’s just me but she’s been acting really snotty lately. Maybe she sees Sherri getting all these acting gigs and she’s a little jealous.

more on natasha - autopsy:
Richardson Died of ‘Blunt Impact,’
Medical Examiner Says
By ANAHAD O’CONNOR and DENISE GRADY
Published: March 19, 2009
The chief medical examiner for New York City said on Thursday that an autopsy of Tony-award winning actress Natasha Richardson indicated that she died of a brain hemorrhage caused by “blunt impact” to her head.
Ms. Richardson died on Wednesday in a Manhattan hospital, two days after suffering what appeared to be a minor fall on a beginner’s ski slope north of Montreal. She initially turned down medical treatment but complained of a severe headache an hour later and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
The autopsy on Thursday suggests that the fall tore an artery inside Ms. Richardson’s skull, resulting in bleeding in an area between the skull bone and the lining covering the brain, called the dura matter. Ms. Richardson’s death was ruled an accident, said Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office. She added that the medical examiner’s office did not have information on whether Ms. Richardson was an organ donor.
The official cause of death was an epidural hematoma. A hematoma is a collection of blood.
The description of Ms. Richardson’s behavior after she fell fits in with the initially subtle symptoms of the condition, said a brain surgeon not involved in her care, Dr. David J. Langer, the director of cerebrovascular neurosurgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt, Beth Israel and Long Island College Hospital, and an assistant professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University.
At first, the 45-year-old Ms. Richardson was up and about, acting normally, but she soon developed a crushing headache.
“People classically have a lucid interval, like what she had,” Dr. Langer said, adding that symptoms develop as the bleeding continues and the clot grows big enough to press on the brain. Epidural hematomas do show up on CT scans, and surgery is needed quickly to relieve the pressure, remove the clot and stop the bleeding.
Ms. Richardson’s sudden death left not only sadness — Broadway will dim the marquee lights before its 8 p.m. performances on Thursday in her memory — but unsettling questions about how a seemingly minor accident could have caused such a grave injury.
A spokeswoman for the ski resort, Mont Tremblant, said Ms. Richardson — who was not wearing a helmet — fell on soft snow, did not appear to have hit her head, did not lose consciousness and joked about falling. But she immediately stopped skiing and returned to her hotel room, accompanied by her instructor and a member of the ski patrol. It is not clear whether she needed their help.
The spokeswoman said that the ski patroller advised Ms. Richardson to see a doctor, but that she declined to do so. The reason for that advice is not known. But people who take minor spills on ski slopes are not usually urged to see a doctor unless they are showing some sign of an injury.
About an hour after the fall, an ambulance was called and Ms. Richardson was taken to a small hospital about 20 minutes from the resort — one that has a CT scanner but not an MRI scanner. In addition, a spokesman there said, the hospital does not treat trauma cases, but stabilizes patients and then sends them to a larger hospital.
A few hours later, at about 5 p.m., Ms. Richardson was taken by ambulance to a larger hospital, Hôpital du Sacre-Coeur de Montreal, about 50 miles away. Citing Quebec’s privacy laws, hospital officials declined to describe her condition or say what tests or treatments she received there.
On Tuesday afternoon, about 24 hours after she fell, an ambulance took her from the Montreal hospital to the airport, from which she was flown to New York. She was then taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she died the next day.
The resort had no immediate comment on the medical examiner’s report of Ms. Richardson’s cause of death, but released a statement earlier on Thursday.
“Out of respect for the family, and their request for privacy, we will not comment further,” spokeswoman Lyne Lortie said.
In addition, it said its staff “intends to fully cooperate with any resulting investigations.”

so sad, tragic - R.I.P. Ms. Richardson
March 19th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Natasha Richardson’s tragic death is one of those examples of “if only”. If only she hadn’t went skiing that day. If only she had caught herself before she fell. I’m someone who believes everything happens for a reason but it’s times like this you wonder the reason her life ended too soon.
March 19th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
I’d like to think G_d (or omgrilledcheese in your case LOL) or Mother Nature has a different plan, like perhaps she was needed elsewhere. I don’t know but it sure gave me food for thought.
March 19th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Thanks MV –
Hard to believe a ski-resort wouldn’t have a trauma center closer to the slopes. If she refused treatment for an hour – and then it took another 3 or 4 hours to get to a proper hospital – its no wonder they ran out of time.
This “Walk And Die Syndrome” sounds so much like the ten-year-old boy who drowned in his bed.
He took in water while swimming in a pool – into his lungs unbeknownst to him and his mother. He grew tired, soiled himself twice, took a bath and went to bed.
He never woke up.
Natasha was beautiful – ethereal.
Between the Neesons, the Travoltas and Patrick Swayze – there’s certainly a time to grieve.
March 19th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
No Kel, she refused the paramedics treatment at the ski lodge and sent the paramedics away! Then, an hour later, she got headache and they took her to a small hospital where they DON’T TREAT TRAUMA victims, and they stabilized her and sent her to Montreal’s Sacred Heart Hospital. By then, you’re right, too much time elapsed.
That story of the 10 y/o boy drowning in his bed…I remember that; anything can happen, freak accidents, etc.
We can all grieve for them and feel their pain or close to it, so devastating for them, very sad, tragic. And we can all appreciate more what and who we have in our lives and become even more humble behind that. *S*
But, here’s the other side, there has always been the Redgrave Family Curse - google it - though Natasha didn’t believe in it.
March 19th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Is there some sort of concerted effort out there to diss SS, taking the spotlight off of BW? The grande dame has gotten considerable negative publicity of late - that painful rendition of “Going to the Wedding, no Chapel” featured on TMZ along with the interview segments where she’s staring off into space as the guest speaks (the Valentino one being the most recent). SS is still the most real in my book.

Im not 100% certain, but then again i never am, but I believe that when Jamie Pressly was talking about her being 156 lbs was when she was pregnant. She had to work hard to lose the weight because her birthday was 2 months away…. Im really not sure where the bulimia came from.

I don’t understand the irritation at Sherri for discussing things in terms of how they affects the black community.
I think it is because in her way of thinking, everything is negative. When she was talking about that awards show, she noticed that there were more black people but still not enough.
That seminar with only black men and health issues…… no white men were welcome to it, but still it wasnt quite right in Sherri’s mind.
I dont really know what it is that Sherri wants…. it seems that any “improvement: still isnt enough for her.
I know there are still racial issues, but the oppression from the past is not the issues of today.
March 19th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
#75 Kelly, Do you think that was really Sherri’s husband? Sure sounds like he knows a lot about her. Probably was him. Sounded like she wasn’t home enough.

Why wouldn’t Joy bring out the Obama theme on the View too? Was she afraid of what Elisabeth might make of it?
You have to remember that Elisabeth isnt the only right wing nutcase on The View. Barbara Walters is and so is Bill Getty. He also has the last say on content of the show. If she didnt bring up the Obama angle of the book it was because of BG not EH.
If she is linking Obama to this fictional dog, why is she including at least 3 synonyms for dog excrement in the title? Buh, Joy?? I thought you liked Obama and supported him.
The title of her book SheetzuCacaPoopoo is from the “type” of dog she has….. a mix between a Shitzu, a cocker spaniel, and a poodle.
Everything that Joy says, does, or thinks has a comic edge to it….. If you find offense or that she is somehow disrespecting President Obama because of the title of the book, then you are just off base Pepperbird.

how do you know there were not white men giving prestnation on health disparities or giving other advice. I kid because today i had a convo with white male colluege about a group that is for black males. we had a laugh about how both of us would not qualify for the group.
March 19th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
I dont know mibi… my point was…. there was a seminar FOR black men… ABOUT the health of black men…. but still Sherri pointed out that this was the only seminar like this out there.. or something like that.
So since that wasnt good enough….. what is Sherri wanting to change?
March 19th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
#93, Hey mibi, wasn’t it cool that you could laugh about something like that with him…doesn’t it make you feel like there has been progress…it makes me feel hopeful when people can laugh and joke about things that used to be deadly serious and not funny.

Get a room you two -
KellyJo - I wasn’t around back when Jeff Tarpley was on - but having read the thread - I kinda think it was him.
He had some back-up - fellow male posters - which made me think - yup, it’s him.
March 19th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Actually, that letter was the first thing I read here, damn I’ve been coming here that long. Wow, time flies when I’m having fun.
Kelly, if you’re looking for long lost WTVers try to find Sandy Woodard. Remember her? Wasn’t she from Ohio like you?
March 19th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
it okay roger just a few to many brownies ….again but its cool no worries bernie i have both a mop and broom in the car i know rogers game. and kelly i saw you kissing roger last week so there. * wink *
March 19th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
Roger, you cad. Mibi at least you found out before you got in too deep.
March 19th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
I dont care who sees the kisses…. just as long as they keep coming!!!
I remember Sandy Woodard…. she was from Cincinnati and didnt like me at all….. even called me a republican….. needless to say I was quite offended so I doubt I made a good impression.
didnt see her much after that.
March 19th, 2009 at 7:16 pm
Roger, she thought you were, I think a former poster named Michael. Now HE was a Republican. If you get a chance go into the archives and check out some of the threads before you came on. I did that a few weeks ago, I can’t believe how many posters have come and gone here. I lurked for at least 4 months or so before I got up enough nerve to post and look at me now, I can’t quit typing.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Yup - Michael. I thought Rog was Michael too. But then, I thought Tony was Michael. hmmmmmmm Maybe I think too much.
Poor Sandy Woodward. I think she got into it with Lopez or someone - and then she was gone. Then she was back once - then gone again. Now they’re both gone.
I think it took me a while to get the nerve to post too. That seems funny now. I remember hitting SEND and wondering if anyone would talk to me.
I don’t think anyone did.

Don’t forget to watch the Prez tonight:
This from CNN:
“Here’s what happened. You have a company, AIG; it was a regular insurance company. Then someone decided to do a hedge fund on top and sell derivatives, etc.,” he said.
“This smart person said none of these things are going to go bust. So they sold these things. Billions and billions of dollars … the whole house of cards started falling down. The problem with AIG is it owed so much,” he said.
“The immediate bonuses that went to AIG are a problem, but the larger problem is we gotta get back to an attitude where people know enough is enough and people have a sense of responsibility and they understand that their actions are gonna have an impact on everybody,” he said. “If we can get back to those values that built America, then I think we’re gonna be OK,” he said.
Obama taped the show Thursday afternoon during a two-day swing through the Los Angeles area for town hall meetings focusing on the economy. The show airs Thursday night.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:31 pm
That was Obama’s response to Jay Leno - pretaped.
Rain has an open thread on her site for those watching Leno tonight.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
WOW
What I said on Monday: “I guess the lesson here is; if you’re a Republican, you can pretend your debt/liabilities don’t exist. And when your house of cards come crashing down – grab your golden parachute and blame it on the American homeowner/consumer.”
What Obama said today: “This smart person said none of these things are going to go bust. So they sold these things. Billions and billions of dollars … the whole house of cards started falling down. The problem with AIG is it owed so much,” he said.
I LOVE THIS MAN…
March 19th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
#92 Roger: OK–thanks; actually it is a relief to hear that you think Joy is not somehow disrespecting President Obama because of the title of her book.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:31 pm
Obama did an excellent appearance on the Leno show tonight. He was relaxed, cool, and articulate.
Seems to have lost weight though–I’d say at least 10 pounds or more.
March 20th, 2009 at 6:22 am
I didn’t comment on this yesterday because I didn’t know what TLB was talking about – which GOP talking point she was trying to sell when she said: “You wanna talk vacations?” to Joy.
Joy correctly said that Bush spent a THIRD of his invalid “presidency” on vacation. That’s nearly 3 years out of 8 years on vacation – no lie.
Then TLB chimed in about somebody’s vacation. They cut to commercial – but what TLB was getting at is – the GOPfia is trying to say that Obama is doing TOO much. He’s away from the White House TOO much. He’s throwing Wednesday night ‘cocktail’ parties on your dime and blah blah blah.
Unreal. Bush went on vacation the minute he stole the election – back to his faux ranch – and stayed on vacation for the last 8 years. But Obama is doing TOO much? His hour stint on Leno (while in California doing Arnolds’s town hall) was costing the tax payers TOO much. Why weren’t these ‘people’ concerned about Bush’s spending on Iraq, helicopters, Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, Wall Street, Big Oil….and on and on?
The Wednesday night White House gatherings are social building affairs. Imagine that –the Obama’s trying to build a network of cooperation in DC. Just crazy.
We’re lucky to have the Obamas. I’ve had it with the Republicans.

I agree with you Kelly, we are *lucky to have the Obamas* - as most of us have had it with the repugilcans.
I saw our President on Leno last night and I thought he was very cool! It was a great interview-discussion.
I love the Obamas! Though I do not like the $900 million going to Gaza. That’s just me, though. $900 mill could clean up our homeless situation in this country. I realize Gaza needs help in rebuilding but US giving THEM $900 mill? I don’t think so.
Again, just my nickel’s worth.

America gives Billions upon Billions to other countries…. for everything from weapons to humanitarian supplies….. all of this money could go to help real Americans.
The way I understand it is the 900 million for Gaza is directed to be for humanitarian supplies.
Do you also agree that we should stop giving Israel the money that we give them? I went and looked, in 2007 we gave Israel $2.5 Billion… most of that in weapons.
I can understand people not agreeing with the politics of those in Gaza…. but I dont understand the hatred for the Gazan people.

Roger - It’s not hatred for the Gazan/Palestinian people - it’s hatred for a terrorist organization as HAMAS/Hezbollah (both organizations that work with Al-Queda by the way), whether Hamas was voted in or not (voting machine rigging comes to mind).
Just like you said, the $$ is to be for humanitarian supplies, we are and have been sending in humanitarian supplies for months that HAMAS KEEPS SABOTAGING/taking/intercepting, making sure the supplies do NOT get into the hands of the people that realy need the supplies.
Additionally, Hamas shoots off rockets all the time into Southern Israel-especially during the cease-fires. They are antagonistic. And THIS is why Israel attacked them with an even greater force.
It’s like when someone hits you, you make sure to hit back and even harder than you were hit….that is, if one hits at all, but definitely hitting back is fine! I raised my own quite different than I was raised. I say never strike anyone, UNLESS you are struck first and then you got to hit back with a force that will possibly take the original hitter down, so that they quit getting up hitting you again!
Also, since they want to kill all Jews just for being Jewish and all Americans, yeah I’m okay with giving $$ to Israel (perhaps not as much though).
Let me explain - we don’t have many friends here in the USA now and militarily-speaking Israel is right-on-target (meaning more advanced than us and probably everyone) with their military equipment/might. So, if the other want to take America and Americans out -then I sure would want Israel on my side. And though I am a huge leftist-independent, I am very happy that Right-Winged Bibi Netanyahu is back leading the country!
But this is just my *take* Roger - don’t book any $$ on my take…that’s fer sure! *LOL*
Have a nice evening.
