The View November 12th Recap: Alicia Keys and Amy Brenneman
Today on The View it was the four main hosts again. The first topic was the Sarah Palin “media blitz.” Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that she watched the Palin interview where she was cooking dinner. She thought it was neat to see her in her environment, saying that she has trouble keeping a train of thought while cooking. Sherri Shepherd wants to know who cook in a three-piece suit. Elisabeth said she was making hot dogs stuffed with cheese. Joy Behar did not like that the baby was in the kitchen, worried they would drop him. Elisabeth said that the dad was holding him and Sherri said when you have five kids you know how to do it all. Joy thinks that Palin is trying to reinvent herself. Whoopi wants to know how Ted Stevens got reelected. Elisabeth said that she heard that Palin does not want Stevens’ job, but Palin said that if it is God’s plan, she will run in 2012. Elisabeth said that when she introduced Palin, Palin went off-script to talk about the clothes. Elisabeth said that she respected the fact that she could go off-script and say what she believes. Joy said that the McCain camp is turning on her for going off-script about palling around with terrorists. Elisabeth said that had Obama not won, we would be hearing about things that Biden said. Whoopi said that she still does not understand how Stevens got reelected.
John McCain was on The Tonight Show and joked it was all the press’s fault for his loss. Leno asked him if he thought the media was tough on him and McCain joked, “Did you see The View?” McCain said that can handle it and people don’t like a sore loser. Joy said that he looked relieved and thinks he might come back on the show. Whoopi then started singing “Johnny Mac,” I guess to encourage him to come back.
Sorry that is all the recap that I can do today. Feel free to discuss any part of the show in the comment section.
Scheduled guests are Alicia Keys and Amy Brenneman from Private Practice.
The View, Alicia Keys, Amy Brenneman, Private Practice, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Barbara Walters

hmmm..elizabeth finds it hard to multitask? what a surprise.
November 12th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Well, so far, The View is slightly entertaining this morning.
November 12th, 2008 at 10:45 am
“Elisabeth said that the dad was holding him.”
The father gave the baby to the youngest daughter who was wearing high heel shoes.
November 12th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Love, What the Hell Wednesday! However, I did see the story EH talked about. The runner left the fox clamped to her arm till she got to her car a mile away-then put it in the trunk and took it with her to find out if it was rabid. It was, so she is getting the shots now. Think she had to hit it with something to get it off her arm.
November 12th, 2008 at 10:54 am
Actually, quite a few people find it hard to multitask. Not just EH. She is being honest about herself.
November 12th, 2008 at 11:13 am
that fox also bit the animal control officer. wow, scary situation.
diane10- yeah,ok. most moms have that mastered by the 2nd kid. i guess it depends on your situation and state of mind.
my opinion and i stick by it.
November 12th, 2008 at 11:22 am
I thought the numerous interviews w/SP, in a suit, while cooking, was odd. As in…is this an SNL skit?? Once, charming. After that…odd.
I don’t like the “What the Hell?” segment title. Couldn’t they have been more creative in thinking up a title w/out profanity? I’ll be interested to see BW some wednesday saying it.
November 12th, 2008 at 11:34 am
Let’s hear it for Alicia Keys- she made the show today!
Palin’s sudden media blitz is getting old….let’s move on,people. Sometimes it seems the media is pushing Palin to run for Alaska senator and to get her to run in 2012 even though the NEW president isn’t in office yet!
November 12th, 2008 at 11:35 am
#6 You are more than welcomed to have your opinion and stick by it! I merely made a statement of fact.
November 12th, 2008 at 11:40 am
I am about to start watching the show today. But I wanted to say one quick thing about yesterday’s show, as I spent most of yesterday’s blog talking about Veteran’s Day.
At the end of yesterday’s show, when they were talking about Elton’s dogs, he said they were married. He said they were named Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller. EH goes, “Oh… such a good combination.” HELLO? Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe were married! How can she not have known that? If you learn about AM’s works in school, you usually learn about his private life. She should be put in the dunce’s corner for that. So again, what exactly does this woman bring to the table?
November 12th, 2008 at 11:45 am

absolutely. me too.

that segment definitely needs a different title. hopefully they’ll rename it.
and no more unpleasant bodily function talk would be nice.

Alicia Keys and Amy Brenneman are total babes!!
sorry Joy *blush*

Amen- ITA The new Pres. isn’t even in yet. This is exactly what happened 4 years ago. The election season was way too long. This past election was the first one that I remember being 3 years long- way too much.

Okay, the lack of knowledge on this show makes me so mad. If you are going to talk about the current affairs on a nationally braodcasted show, you should at least do some background research so that you can discuss it properly. Ted Stevens was convicted in late October, so yes, voters knew this when they went to vote. It was all over CNN and I’m sure other news networks. I think it was Sherri who said that they didn’t know yet and Whoopi said that they did know he was going to court.
Noooo, he had already been convicted when he was re-elected to office!!!
November 12th, 2008 at 11:59 am

maybe they’re talking about the early voters. either way, they definitely seem to lacking research skills lately.
November 12th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
Haven’t watched the show yet… Did they correct their bogus military figures from yesterday? Do they take the time to correct themselves EVER?
November 12th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Well I think they are now counting the early voters’ votes, but the actual Nov 4 voters reelected him or they have him in the lead.
November 12th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
June–
it was actually 2 years long…… The press started asking for candidates right after the November 2006 election…. Tucker Carlson would ask on his show daily when Hillary Clinton was gonna announce her candidacy and she finally did succumb on January 20, 2007 exactly 2 years before Barack Obama gets sworn in.
Still WAY too long though
November 12th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
someone correct me if I’m wrong.
November 12th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
I would have to agree with Whoopi on this one. It’s mind boggling that someone would actually vote for a senator who had just been convicted!
This was in the Anchorage newspaper on Oct 27:
http://www.adn.com/opinion/story/569718.html
So when they talk about Palin’s popularity in this state, well, you are talking about a state that also voted to re-elect a convicted felon!
November 12th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
they don’t seem to rachel anna.
it’s as if facts aren’t important.
November 12th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
I usually don’t notice, but TLB had a very unflattering top on today. To counter, I did notice she looked better than usual in navy the other day, so maybe it’s the contrast that made me notice.:)
November 12th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Roger,
Mostly I refering to the coverage/spectulation. I remember Condi Rice, Rudi Guliani, and I think Hillary all had supporters that were taking petitions for them to run when I had my laptop, which was at least back in 06 if not before. This one just got so much early press with the war and all. I just agree we need to see what is going to happen in the next year at least before talking about new candidates again! UGH!
November 12th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
But then again, he did do a lot for that state, so maybe the general public decided to look past his bad judgement.
November 12th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
I think Ted Stevens was still running because he is claiming he will be exanerated (sp?) during his appeal process. He is still claiming to be innocent. The news piece on him I saw, portrayed him as being very well liked by the people he represents, so he has alot of backing. I do not know the law though, as far as being a convicted felon in office. He certainly couldn’t vote for himself! LOL
November 12th, 2008 at 12:20 pm

t’s mind boggling that someone would actually vote for a senator who had just been convicted!
Did you hear Stevens statement after he was found guilty? I think he may be insane… He said he wasnt really convicted, because he was appealing.
My question is this… what are you appealing if u werent convicted.
–insanity can be fun
November 12th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
He certainly couldn’t vote for himself! LOL
LMAO
November 12th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Here’s what’s funny: you can get elected as a convicted felon, but you can’t vote as one!!! What the Heck is right!!
November 12th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
About Ted Stevens, I thought on the news and either the Keith O. or Chris Matthews show said that there were 40,000 votes not yet counted in that race. I remember them making fun of how slow Alaska’s voting process was. They said that his opponent still had a chance to win. I also think Rachel Maddow address this as well. She had a radio person from Alaska on talking about this and how they are being deligent in watching how this plays out because Alaska has had corruption in their voting process in the pass.
November 12th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Is EH and Sherry having problems also? Sherry didn’t seemed patient with EH today.
November 12th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Just watched the show. Alicia Keys is such an amazing, TALENTED, strong woman. This is the kind of woman that needs to represent the “young one” on The View.
I don’t like how EH immediately jumps on Joy every day. EH has no respect for her elders, or for someone that’s been on the show since its inception. It’s just RUDE.

it was 90,000 and they joked that they were waiting for the spring thaw.
and rachel’s guest said that because of past shenanigans, that she was watching the vote count.
November 12th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Thanks Heather! I couldn’t all the details but I knew there was more to it, than they said on The View.

ITA!!!!!!! They shouldn’t do hot topics if they don’t even know the BASICS about the subject they are talking about. And the ‘crack’ research team at The View (not) should be looking stuff up AS it happens so they can correct themselves. (like the musicologist that texted joy during the show about the meaning of ‘it ain’t over til the fat lady sings’.
I can forgive Whoopie’s cultural ignorance about opera - it does have a small - if devout - following. But them not knowing that Ted Stevens was convicted before the election? How much do those ladies make? They can’t read the paper everyday? That’s their JOB. Or have ONE journalist on the panel who can correct them.
Like saying that thing about that pastor in Sweden getting fired for refusing to perform a gay wedding. It’s really irresponsible to spread misinformation on a show with this kind of profile…
The balance on that show is RETARDED! stick to Dancing with the Stars and guests then…
November 12th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Well, Ken Lay of Enron fame died before his appeals were final, so his conviction was abated.
November 12th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
Amen, Heather.
November 12th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
They need to have a day of “HOT CORRECTIONS,” and go back through the episodes and give REAL facts and figures. Oh, but that would mean mostly correcting LDV… and for some reason BW and BG won’t do that…
November 12th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Lol, R A, starting with Sherri correcting that the earth is not flat.
November 12th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
no problem, jane.
November 12th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Does anybody know who Alycia Keys dedicated Superwomen to? I couldn’t hear her.

really?? Because he died he doesnt have to be concerted a felon? If thats true, and I was one of his victims….. Id want him dug up and finish his appeals.

Rachel Anna Says:
They need to have a day of “HOT CORRECTIONS,”
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE send that suggestion in to abc.com - if you don’t I will!
They are so drunk on their (perceived) power and mention how often other people cite the show when people are usually making fun of them. lol.

I played it back like 5 times…. couldnt figure out what she said.
November 12th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Could it have been Hillary Clinton?
November 12th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
really?

“A dedication to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton who has been fighting for the best interest of this wonderful nation called America. A wife, mother, Senator, adovocate to millions of voices across the nation. Senator Hillary Clinton is nonetheless a SUPERWOMAN.”

That’s what came up on a Google search. I did not see the show though, so I don’t know what she said there.
November 12th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Heather - I did so, but the more people, the better!
Happy Birthday!
November 12th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
When I first read people talking about Palin’s daughter wearing high heels during that interview, I was thinking it was one of her older girls and people were just nitpicking. Then I just saw the clip. I think that is just insane! Are those high heels actually something that kid wears? Or was she being playful and having a pair of her Mom’s on? I didn’t see the whole interview.
If those were her shoes, it’s my personal opinion that any Mom that would do that to her kid is messed up. And the worst part was her holding that baby in them. What are they thinking? That he’s already mentally delayed so being dropped won’t hurt him? What could possibly be an excuse to let your little kid hold a baby while wearing heels?
Someone clue me in on if I missed something or didn’t see the whole picture?
And thank you if you’ve made it this far in my rant.

Does anybody know who Alycia Keys dedicated Superwomen to? I couldn’t hear her.
I posted that question on Yahoo Answers… a fun place sometimes…. anyway… I got this answer….. dont know if it is true as I didnt confirm, but it sure did sound pretty cool
I thought she dedicated the song to all the women in the audience. When she was talking about the song, she said it was for all women, because of all the things a woman/mother controls while running a family.
Then, when she got up to sing, she said this one’s for you….meaning the audience.
November 12th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
ShannonP,
I think the little girl may have been wearing her moms shoes. Either way it seemed unsafe to me too.
November 12th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
I decided to watch, ignoring the political and just enjoying the entertainment. It worked. Alicia Keys and Amy Brenneman were entertaining. I am sick of the topic of Palin..

“A dedication to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton who has been fighting for the best interest of this wonderful nation called America. A wife, mother, Senator, adovocate to millions of voices across the nation. Senator Hillary Clinton is nonetheless a SUPERWOMAN.”
I like this song even more now.

How can I send Winnie pictures from Whoppi at the rally against the mormons tonight for their support of Prop 8 in NYC? Mine are only Ok, but thought you all might like to see. Whoppi walks the walk that she talks.
November 12th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
Eddie–
at the top of this page there is a place for “contact me” send her an email and she will respond to you
November 13th, 2008 at 2:25 am
Winnie, you should name this blog.
” HATE watching the view”
because all people do on this website is just bag the show?
i dont understand why people come on here or watch the show when they dont like it?
love the site. BECAUSE I LOVE THE VIEW
November 13th, 2008 at 6:32 am
Jenny, It’s not called LOVE Watching the View either.
Read the banner at the top. It says
“We Watch the View So You Don’t Have To”
Some of the people here DO watch
Some of the people USED TO Watch
And some just come here for the recap, subsequent conversation and people who post here.
Not sure why you are questioning why people post here. If you want a site where you can see people post ONLY positive things and not “bag” , maybe you can do a google search. Or create a happy happy View blog of your own.
I’m sure Winnie welcomes all of the people that visit and post (so long as they follow the site posting rules)
November 13th, 2008 at 8:45 am
PRIOR POST: Winnie, you should name this blog. ” HATE watching the view”
RESPONSE: Sounds like a new blog to me. Doesn’t seem to fit Winnie’s mission or personality, and assumes things I don’t think are true, but good brainstorming. Keep it up.
PRIOR POST: because all people do on this website is just bag the show?
RESPONSE: I’m missing something. What is your point? That people shouldn’t bag the show?
P.S. Why do you read this blog if ALL that happens is bagging the show nad you don’t like reading about bagging the show.
PRIOR POST: i dont understand why people come on here or watch the show when they dont like it?
RESPOSNE: People are complicated, aren’t they. I don’t understand why people who like EH would come to this blog. But their choice.
