The View October 13th Recap: Day of Hot Topics and Rapper T.I.
Today on The View, it is a “day of hot topics.” It was the four main hosts again, with no Barbara Walters.
The first topic was the weekend. Elisabeth Hasselbeck did a “girlfriends only” trip to a local vineyard. She shared a bed with her Democrat friend and they had “politics pillow talk.” They also discussed how their friends are taking on Tupperware and similar jobs in order to bring in extra income. A discussion of food “dips” led to a discussion of Joy Behar’s hair and using Dippity-Do. Joy said that she was the only one with curly hair growing up. She would have had to go to the Black neighborhoods to get proper hair products growing up, but she was too scared to do it. Whoopi Goldbeg said that when she was in South Africa, she learned that for many years, Black South Africans and White South Africans were both told that the other race would eat them. Whoopi said had Joy gone to the Black neighborhood, they probably would have been scared of her, too. Sherri Shepherd said once she saw a white couple walking down the street and she mocked fear and grabbed her purse.
Whoopi spent Sunday with the Association of Aging who honors those who work with the elderly. At the end of the program, a nun gave her a cookie jar that looked like a nun. The cookies are called “Nun better.” She said that the people gave up a lot to do the work and she doesn’t know if she could do it.
Joy was talking with friends about how if you are on your death bed, will you suddenly become religious? Whoopi said not only then, but when something bad happens. Sherri said that when you are facing what happens after death, people will pray just in case. Joy almost died in the hospital and did not think about religion, but only where her doctor was off playing golf. Sherri prays when she wakes up and gives thanks for being alive another day and hoping that she can get it right today. Whoopi said that the Lord knows how you are feeling and, if she does not make it, would welcome Sherri, knowing she did the best she could because she is silly.
There are 23 days until the election. John McCain had to correct a person at a townhall who said that she could not trust Barack Obama because he is an Arab. McCain said that Obama is a citizen and a decent family man, but they disagree on the issues. Elisabeth said that so many lies can ride through the campaign and you have to love McCain for saying that and not letting that lie continue. Sherri said that you should expect him to say that just because he is a decent human being. She said that the terrorist talk creates fear and one crazy lady soon can become a mob. Elisabeth said that the facts are the facts. Sherri said they repeatedly use the word terrorist and people think we are supposed to kill terrorists. Elisabeth asked her if she thinks Ayers is a terrorist. Sherri said that he has done a lot of great work since that time. Whoopi said that Ayers was a terrorist, who bombed two buildings, 40 years ago. She encouraged people to go to FactCheck.org to get the whole story. She doesn’t like when people (not Elisabeth) misrepresent the facts. She talked again about how it is a dangerous road to look at everyone’s past connections because many in Congress are linked to former members of the KKK. She said that she recognizes that to some people a man who opposes the war and bombs buildings is not the same as hanging hundreds of thousands of Black people, but you have to be careful when making associations. Whoopi said that it was great that Elisabeth and her friend were able to argue in bed and then say “good night” and be fine. Joy said that if people wanted to go after Elisabeth they could say that was a lesbian thing when she was in bed with her friend. Whoopi said that what McCain said at that town hall is the McCain she used to love.
Joy thinks that Sean Hannity is a “dangerous dangerous force in television.” He had Andy Martin on for an hour and he spewed vitriol and lies about Obama. Elisabeth talked to Hannity about this the morning and said he would welcome Joy onto the show. According to Elisabeth, a producer interviewed Martin, not Hannity, and Hannity condemns what Martin said. She said that Hannity has had made a career of people with strong views on his shows, but he condemns them. She said that it was not an issue when he had Rev. Wright on. Whoopi said that Wright was not attacking anyone person, he is just mad at America. Whoopi likes Hannity and he believes him if he says, through Elisabeth, that he condemns Martin. Sherri said that Obama has condemned everything that Ayers has done in the past. Elisabeth said that Hannity did not sit on a board with him for 20 years. Whoopi said that she should not talk if she doesn’t know what she is saying is true and people should go to Fact Check. Elisabeth said she does know what she is saying.
The official report on “Troopergate” stated that Sarah Palin abused her power, but did not break any laws. Whoopi thought it was interesting because it is in her right to fire the employee, but confused how she abused her power. Sherri read the report and it is says that she violated an ethics rule for putting pressure on people, but she could fire the employee at will. The report also stated that the family connection was not the sole reason that Monegan was fired. Sherri said that Todd Palin…then Joy interrupted and said “the secessionist.” Joy said that was a member of the Alaska Independence Party. Elisabeth said that he was not active in the organization and did not personally state that he wanted Alaska to secede. Joy said that Palin gave a speech and told the AIP that they were doing well. Elisabeth said that was part of her duty as governor. Joy said that Palin is big on cronyism and hired friends. Anyone who disagrees with her is considered a “hater.” She said that Palin is “Cheney in a dress.” Back to the original point Sherri was trying to make, Sherri said that she was surprised by how big the role Todd Palin had in trying to get the man fired. She said that she thought he just stayed how and stayed home with the children, but really he was very involved in his wife’s job. Elisbeth said that then we should look at Michelle Obama because she has “strong world views.” Sherri said that Michelle is not doing things to affect his policy views or make changes. Elisabeth said, “You don’t know.” Joy said that Sarah Palin “overuses her power and underuses her brain.”
A survey found that 52% of brides think that their sex life will improve after they get married. Sherri thought she would be freaky after she got married, but she did not. She said that sex pre-marriage is taboo, but then after you get married, “he is there.” Elisabeth asked if you take it for granted because he is there and you “sleep in fleece jackets.” Joy said that marriage is too safe and doesn’t like that she cannot get out of it easily and that is why she won’t get married again. Whoopi suggests having the man hide in a closet in a ballgown and jumping out and saying, “I don’t know how I got here, but you turn me on.” Sherri said something and Whoopi said “You are looking for thug sex.” Elisabeth said, “I am just looking for any . . . from my husband.” Whoopi said she would call him. Elisabeth said that it is hard when you are married because you are tired and sleep in fleece jackets, and you get lazy. Whoopi said playing games is good.
There is a 105 year-old woman who is a virgin and says that celibacy is the key to a long life. Whoopi joked, “that’s right because no one is aggravating you.”
Rapper T.I. appeared on the show. He was nicknamed “Tip” as a baby by his father. He tries to be the best he can be and takes advantage of opportunities. This album is called “Paper Trail,” because this is the first time he put pen to paper since his first album. He wrote the album while on house arrest.
T.I. is facing one year in prison for buying machine guns. He said that he has since learned that no matter where you are from, you should walk with God instead of walking with guns. He has had attempts on his life and his best friend was shot and killed protecting him. He is concerned about going to jail, but is not scared. He is looking forward to getting over with so he can get on with his life.
He then performed “Whatever you like” from his new album.
The View, T.I., Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, Sarah Palin, John McCain, Barack Obama, AIP, Monegan, Troopergate, sex, marriage

As far as I know Sean Hannity hasn’t come on TV and denounced what that guy Andrew said. An Obama spokesperson called Sean out for having the guy on his show.
Sean is such a coward that he’s now shifting the blame on his producer for booking the show. It’s his show and I’m sure he has a hand in deciding who the guest are going to be.
Whoopi gets on my nerves with her always trying to be in the middle. Yeah, big deal McCain called the ignorant woman out, what about the other times where people yelled “off with his head”, “kill him” and he’s a” terrorist.”
TLB is wrong Todd Palin was a member of the AIP. which means he must have endorsed their beliefs. How can you belong to a group that advocates seceding from the USA, if you are opposed to it?
Palin was found guilty of abusing her power, the rest is irrelevant to me. She has shown us that she will be just like the current administration.
There isn’t anything likable about Sean Hannity, Joy is right he is dangerous. He has tapped into the ignorance, fear and stupidity of some McCain supporters. I wonder if Whoopi would feel differently if she were on the receiving end of some of that hate?
October 13th, 2008 at 10:29 am
EH is most definitely wrong about Todd Palin. He was a member until 2002 and his wife, Sarah, spoke at their conventions on more than one occasion. She was there so often, the other members thought she was a member as well. Sarah, as govenor, showed SUPPORT for the AIP. Terrorists are those who hate America. That includes the AIP, which Sarah and Todd, were both active.
And, TLB just needs to get off of it. What a hypocrite!!! She is just saying he was not a member. If this had been Obama, she would damn near have a seizure. He could have just driven by the convention and he is guilty by association. Yet, she and the wind bag, HAMmity, completely ignore the associtions the Palins have with the AIP. HYPOCRITES!!!!!
October 13th, 2008 at 10:29 am
Thanks for the recap. I may never turn on ABC again, seeing that they are FAux lite these days.
Bit’s ignorance continues to expand to fill the void. Sad that she has no critical thinking skills. Sherri, in contrast, seems to be growing by leaps and bounds.
October 13th, 2008 at 10:32 am
I had to laugh when Lizzie stated she had
“personally talked to Hannity” no shit..we
all know who is filling her head with the GOP crap. His producers did the interviewing?? Oh puleeze…anything to cover his ass Lizzie..we’re not stupid.
October 13th, 2008 at 10:39 am
EH must talk to Hannity every morning to get the talking points for the day. He tells her what to say with nothing to back it up. That’s why she just goes off because she doesn’t know the details, just today’s talking points. And if Sean said it then it must be true. I agree with Joy - Hannity is a very dangerous man. On the other hand, Sherri is becoming a huge contributor. She’s really doing her homework. Way to go girl!
October 13th, 2008 at 10:45 am
TLB is the HAMmity parrot. She fits comfortably on his right shoulder.
October 13th, 2008 at 10:46 am
You know it is a monday when you can’t remember what something stands for!!
What does TLB stand for?
thank you
October 13th, 2008 at 10:50 am
first TI is so cute and it is shame when talented rappers or musicans let ther past or just craziness mess with there current progress and success
second i will never watch hannity/fox news again in life . i tried to watch friday to see conservative reaction to palin report (hannity was not on) but never again after hearing he had such a person on.
i think mccain had no choice or little choice to let his supports no that obama is not an arab/ decent person and that they have nothing to fear from him. after week of gettign them riled up.
I wish they would have asked eh is she though obama was a terriost and if she say the connection in whats being said at rallies by palin mccain and there camp and people yelling things like bomd obama. ( rachel maddow which i watched friday for lib reaction to palin report a gave a little history of people( civil rights figs) who have been assainated by bombing )
October 13th, 2008 at 10:59 am
oh yeah palin she abused her power
and let her husband( who was hit harder by report) use her office to do as he wills and it scares me more that palin will let todd”the sucessionist” ( to quoyte joy) infulence her a vp than who will be influenceing obama .
October 13th, 2008 at 11:04 am

You are not alone. I also want to know what TLB stands for. I am guessing it means: ” the little bi**h.”
Help us out …. #6 ..Amy

I don’t even know why this parrot always seem to fing a way to say something negative or hint at something negative about MO. She did it at the crypt keepers luncheon and, as I have read, she brings up her name again. She tells Sherri, “you don’t know….as if she does!! MO has stated she is taking notes from Laura Bush and just standing in the background. Just being there to support her husband is all she is about.
Todd Palin was a member of the AIP. EH says it was just part of her duty as govenor. Well, I know there are plenty of govenors who allow the KKK to have their street marches, or conduct their hateful rallys..but they would not (at least not to my knowledge) speak at their conventions or attend their conventions. As mentioned, she was there so much she was thought to be a member of this group. But, let’s just ignore that.
October 13th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Most say the TLB stands for Torture Loving Bitch.
October 13th, 2008 at 11:19 am
I don’t respect McCain at all for correcting people NOW. He’s only doing it to save his own butt because it’s backfired on him and people are saying that in the event that something happens to Obama because of all this hatred, that McCain and Palin have a responsibility in it because of the tone of their rallies and the hate and lies they’ve put out there. And the MSM are responsible too. If a bunch of black angry Obama supporting crowds were gathering and saying “die McCain” “kill him” etc. I think the coverage of it would be just a wee bit different don’t you? It’s b.s. that it’s not covered with the severity that it deserves to be covered.
Today’s recap just continues to show what I’ve felt all along, Elisabeth is a Hannity bobblehead, Whoopi is an obnoxious fence rider trying to be a “cool cat” and please everyone, and none of these ladies are someone I really relate to. I am proud of Sherri though for becoming engaged in things and actually seeming to grow and care.
Their conversations on marriage always annoy me. As if there is one category “marriage” falls into. Marriage is what you make of it, it’s personal to each couple. Whatever your beliefs about it, your expectations going in etc…that all influences the success of the marriage. So if your marriage fails or succeeds, it’s not a reflection on the institution of marriage, is a reflection on the two people that entered into it.
October 13th, 2008 at 11:19 am
I think TLB was torture loving barbie? But it’s not what I say in my head when I read it, I go with “the little b*tch” too.
October 13th, 2008 at 11:21 am
TLB stands for Torture loving Barbie.
I believe it was Lajet who said, that TLB’s thoughts are not her own. This seems to be true. Does she get briefed by the grown up Eddie Munster look alike (Hannity) Every day? Any woman who can’t think for herself and allows a man to pull her strings is weak. That seems to be the case with Palin too, Todd Palin is Cheney to her Bush.
October 13th, 2008 at 11:26 am
“If a bunch of black angry Obama supporting crowds were gathering and saying “die McCain” “kill him” etc. I think the coverage of it would be just a wee bit different don’t you? It’s b.s. that it’s not covered with the severity that it deserves to be covered.”
That’s exactly what I told my friend this weekend. McCian/Palin have ignited this fire and now he’s trying to put it out.
October 13th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Okay I will make up my own little thing for TLB. I find it funny how TLB can be so blind about many of the issues. McCain is magician. Watch this hand While I do the trick with the other. Watch me reprimand this women for her misconception about Obama, while I let the rest of the crowd shout kill the terrorist. Palin is what you think of when you think of small town politician. Bend the rules so that they suit your purpose. It always amazes me how people can turn a blind eye about what they don’t want to see or understand. TLB has definaly got they down to a art form.
Whoopi, I think that she has made up her mind about who she is going to vote for,but
still needs to have more information.
Joy,knows who she is going to vote for, why she is voting and will give you facts to back it up.
Sherri, Was that a little dig toward EH about all the reading? She has come a long way with this political stuff. I think that she is really interested and wants to make a
informed decician about the election.
IMy daugher(19)asked what is the big deal with voting. I told her did she have any interest in where the us is going in the coming years? yes Do you like all the freedoms that living in the US ? Yes Did she want to be able to express a opinion about the election afer the election? Yes.
Than she had better vote. I tell her often either shutup or putup.
October 13th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Joy didn’t pussyfoot around when she called Palin “Cheney in a dress”! Love you Joy..you hit the nail on the head. Palin would try to take away wonen’s rights in a N.Y. minute and have Toddboy “helping” her run everything since she said that she would like to see the veep job expanded!
When bubblehead EH said that “she talked to Hannity this morning” I said “That proves the twit is his parrot”. She is probably staying on at “The View” till after the election so she can get his talking points across and make digs at Obama. After the election she will probably move on over to Fauxnews and proceed to take over everything there..and I’ll be thrilled evermore.
October 13th, 2008 at 11:58 am
an easy way of summarizing the palin report is to say it shows she holds grudges and lets personal issues affect her job…where have we seen that behavior before? oh yeah, the current administration…todd palin seemed awfully involved in his wife’s job…when hillary was running for president didn’t the republicans worry that bill would have been too involved in things? at least he would have been qualified.
October 13th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
RIGHT ON RAINLILLIE…..
WHAT HAS HAPPENED MOST RECENTLY PROVES THE POINT I HAVE BEEN MAKING TO FRIENDS….AND THAT IS THIS…..THERE ARE MASSES THAT DO NOT CARE, THERE ARE MASSES WHO DO NOT WANT TO KNOW, THERE ARE MASSES WHO HAVE LOCKED MINDS AND THOSE MINDS ARE APPARENTLY OVERFLOWING WITH MISINFORMATION….AND THEN THERE ARE THOSE WHO DO CARE, ARE CONCERNED AND SCARED.
WE HAVEN’T CHANGED….HATE AND VIOLENCE CONTINUES TO FLOURISH. I AM APPALLED NOT ONLY AT THE THINGS BEING SAID BY BOTH REPUBLICIAN CANDIDATES….BUT THE PEOPLE WHO APPARENTLY BELIEVE THEIR EVERY WORD. ANY CANDIDATE WHO STANDS ON THE BACK OF HIS OR HER OPPONENT DOES NOT DESERVE TO HOLD OFFICE IN MY OPINION!
October 13th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Oh…ok. The “B” stood for Barbie. My bad. I have called Hasselblech the HAMmity parrot for the longest. Hammity is a racist in my opinion and he has turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the fact that PALIN and her husband both support the AIP. This group hates America, and they are not Muslim. They are Americans who rather be referred to as Alaskans only. What about that?! The Palins supported this group and Todd was member. Palin was not just doing her duty as govenor, she was in attendance often and spoke at their conventions.
I agree with Shannon P about the hate rallies. If there had been people at an Obama/Biden rally shouting “kill the racist”, or in Palin’s case, “kill the terrorist”, it would have been “breaking news”. Rantings like that in addition to him being called an Arab (LOL)and a terrorist, Obama probably would have been arrested.
October 13th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
” Elisbeth said that then we should look at Michelle Obama because she has “strong world views.” Sherri said that Michelle is not doing things to affect his policy views or make changes. Elisabeth said, “You don’t know.” ”
Gah, typical deflecting TLB.
The point is we KNOW how Todd behaves and how he overstepped his bounds. We KNOW he was allowed to run rampant and try to use his wife’s position in order to have his ex BIL fired. We KNOW that because of the investigation.
Yet instead of saying he was wrong in how he acted, she does what she does best: point to someone else. She also has no PROOF that Michelle has behaved inappropriately while Obama has been a Senator. Has Michelle gone after someone she disagreed with? Stalked someone and taken pictures in the process? Called around trying to have someone fired? If Bits does not know and there is no evidence pointing to that, then there is no comparing in this case, and Bits needs to STFU.
Bits is such a two faced backstabbing, cowardly indiviudual. How she could sit and smile in Michelle’s face, then snidely refer to her in such a derisive manner is beyond me. I truly find it hard to believe that she could have a respectable and calm discussion with someone with a different political view. I also can’t believe that person slept in the same bed with her. I hope the friend at least had a flak jacket to cover her back.
By the way TLB = Torture Loving Barbie.
October 13th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
McCain doesn’t deserve to be President of the US and have a VP who supports a group that hates America. The kind of people at their rallies are the ones they have been speaking to all along. Vile hatred is what we have seen at their rallies and they condone it. It would not matter if Barack Hussein (sp) Obama was Bob Harold Olson. They would still find a reason to dislike this man simply because he is not a white man. If he were, there would be no doubt that a democrat would be in the white house by a landslide.
If the Obamas’ were the McCains’, Barack would not stand a chance. If Obama’s rallies were like the McCain rallies, again….it would have been over for him.
October 13th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
rainlillie Says:
“I believe it was Lajet who said, that TLB’s thoughts are not her own. This seems to be true. Does she get briefed by the grown up Eddie Munster look alike (Hannity) Every day?”
Rain, I seriously think she does.
If you listen to her, she sounds just like Sean. I think she tries to emulate him. She certainly parrots him and his views.
October 13th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Thank you, Stacee!
October 13th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
there is no evidence or even rumors that michelle obama has ever tried to influence or coerce her husbands policies…todd palin on the other hand has a report detailing his arm twisting…i swear one day elisabeth is going to actually say “i’m rubber, you’re glue, what bounces off me sticks on you”
October 13th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
#13 - ShannonP Says:

^ I’ll just save myself a few keystrokes and say I totally agree with everything you’ve said!!!
“Marriage is what you make of it, it’s personal to each couple. Whatever your beliefs about it, your expectations going in etc…that all influences the success of the marriage. So if your marriage fails or succeeds, it’s not a reflection on the institution of marriage, is a reflection on the two people that entered into it.”
Well said!

Guess we see where the first allocation from Hannity’s $20M a year radio contract is going….EH’s PR services as a surrogate spokesperson.
Yuck.
October 13th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
A FEW MONTHS BACK THEY SHOWED A SHOW CALLED “BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE VIEW”. IT SHOWED HOW THEY BRIEFED THE WOMEN ON WHAT WOULD BE SAID FOR HOT TOPICS, ETC. I THINK ELISABETH OR (LIZARDBREATH)DOES MAKE A QUICK CALL TO SEAN HANNITY. IN AN ATTEMPT TO PROVE HER IMPORTANCE SHE TIPPED HER HAND. IT IS HIS REAFFIRMATION THAT IS KEEPING HER FUELED UP. I THINK JOY IS RIGHT IN THAT HE IS DANGEROUS WITH HATEFUL IDEAS. AND I AGREE WITH WHOVER SAID THAT PASSING INTERVIEWS OFF ON ‘HIS PRODUCERS’ IS JUST RIDICULOUS. HE IS USING ELISABETH AS HIS TOOL BECAUSE THE VIEW PROBABLY HAS A LARGER FOLLOWING THAN HIS WACKO SHOW BUT WE ARE ALL SO TIRED OF HER THAT EVEN IF SHE’S RIGHT SHE IS WRONG. BW AND BG ARE FOOLS TO LET HER CONTINUE WITH THESE FOOLISH UNFOUNDED RANTS AND SCARE MONGERING.
SHERRI, YOU ARE REALLY COMING INTO YOUR OWN. WHOOPI, DON’T SEE YOURSELF SHORT BY TRYING TO PLAY IT SAFE.
IT IS SO NICE TO SEE JOY SLAM IT BACK DOWN THE RANTING DOPE’S THROAT.

OBAMA SUPPORTERS SPEAK OUT.
October 13th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Just wanted to share some information I have
regarding the “Abuse of Power” by Gov. Palin-
Even though there was no criminal act committed this act falls under the reasons
for IMPEACHMENT of a Government Official -
i.e. President Clinton - Thank you -
October 13th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Joy is so disgusted she can hardly sit there. Did anyome see her face when EH said ‘I spoke with Hannity today, I mean this morning’? She said, ‘you talked to Hammity this morning? Did you really?’ in a really sarcastic tone and then looked totally fed up and shook her head. It must be very hard for Joy to just sit there. They must have been told to tone down their discussions, but Sherri has been able to make her points in a reasonable manner. Joy looks like she’s going to burst. She DOESN’T love EH.
October 13th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Joy missed a great opportunity to trip up EH with her own words today. McCain has had to spend precious town hall time telling his puppets that Obama *is* a decent and good family family (i.e. not a terrorist) because last week’s terrorist theme went overboard. Today, EH is continuing on the terrorist theme. I would have got her with, ’so, you disagree with John McCain? He says Obama is a good guy….’. EH was obviously too busy with her girlfriends this weekend to keep up with the GOP script of the day.
October 13th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
I got to see the show today, and enjoyed it.
I remember reading a few comments towards the end of last week, concerning the host not interrupting each other as much.
I certainly noticed that today. It made for a much better atmosphere, I think. They each stated their opinions, and could actually be heard and understood.
This has to be better for The View, and it is certainly better for the audience.
It’s About Time!!
I appreciate that Whoopi spent Sunday with The Association Of Aging. Good for her!!!
About their first discussion, concerning fear of a different race. I grew up in a racially mixed neighborhood. there didn’t seem to be much fear of the other race, ..certainly not by us children anyway.
Perhaps I was a lucky person in that respect.
Anyway, Joy reminded me that when i was young, I loved to go to my friend’s home and watch her mother do/press her hair. It was fascinating to me. I guess because it was different. Things that interest children.
I am glad that senator McCain did correct the woman at the town hall, as he should have. I feel Sherri is absolutely right, it only takes a few people saying hateful things, to insight more negativism, and more hateful speech.
The report on gov. Palin abuse of power came out as I figured it would. I don’t feel it will make too much difference to those who support her.
I don’t think Elisabeth said that Todd Palin wasn’t a member of the AIG, but rather that, he wasn’t an active member.
I’m unsure how or why she knows or believes that. (if she does)
Never the less he is a member.
I agree 100% with ShannonP. concerning marriage.
Rapper T.I., I really enjoyed him and his song. I wasn’t sure i was going to, but honestly did.
October 13th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Yeah, NOW..Barack is NOT a man who should be feared. He is, after all, a decent and good family man. One should and rightfully so fear a terrorist and that is what Obama is NOT, nor is he an arab (LOL).
October 13th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
“HE IS USING ELISABETH AS HIS TOOL BECAUSE THE VIEW PROBABLY HAS A LARGER FOLLOWING THAN HIS WACKO SHOW.”
I agree, that’s why it’s so important for the other women on the show, to make sure the info that TLB puts out is accurate.
October 13th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
Go Joy! Out of the whole bunch I respect you the most for not being afraid to speak up your mind. By doing that you’re also speaking up for thousands of people like myself who are fed up of listening to people like EH. Only by doing what you are doing will the general public come to know who Pailin is and what she stands for. To me, she is an outsider who came to spill her poison onto this campaign. I thought McCain was better than that. I also commend you for been able to seat at the same table EH does without throwing up in disgust.
October 13th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
Elizabeth needs to widen her reading/ media sources. Have her read the Carl Bernstein article re: McCain’s pallin’ around with Libby, a domestic terrorist, that just came out.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/carl-bernstein/ayers-and-the-mccain-g-go_b_134256.html
October 13th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
I like to add for the record that Arab’s are also good hardworking family people. McCain missed an opportunity to explain that to that ignorant woman. She’s proof that wisdom doesn’t necessarily come with age.
October 13th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
This has gone beyond ridiculous.
Todd Palin was a member of the Alaska INDEPENDENCE Party, whether active or inactive – or whether anyone actually heard him pledge his allegiance. I hardly think he was a member for the free mousecakes and coffee. What did TLB think the members wanted their “Independence” from? Big Hair and Polyester Suits?
Can you believe she had the nerve to say, “Let’s put this issue to rest right now!”
I have spoken, so let it be written?! AS IF B*tch!
The Fact that Palin’s abuse of power has gone on with barely a blurb suggests to me no one is taking this offense very seriously. If Bush had not abused his power, there would have been no war in Iraq, no second term, possibly no 9/11, and no torture that led to American beheadings. Think abuse of power is no big deal?
HannityMcCainPalin all play the same tricks; plant someone in the audience to stir up hate; then distance yourself from the crime scene. Their handlers know that they’re losing this race, and so, they pull the fear card. People are being gassed, shot and harassed since the McCainines announced things were going to get ugly – a declaration intended to give you the impression that this is merely a harmless campaign strategy. Bullsh*t.
And get your smears straight EH! Obama did NOT spend 20 years on the board with Ayers. Tempest in a teapot – B*tch!
Sherri – you’re a lesson to us all: Never underestimate a woman.
Whoopi, Hannity is dangerous and should be living in a van down by the river with Lush.
Joy was right! Palin did appoint her girlfriend as the head of Ag because she loves cows!!!!

Thank you Winnie for the recap as always. You go girl for giving us the full recap :-).
The posters here have made fantastic points about E.H. and the View.

It would be nice if one of the cohosts could ask Elisabeth what the positive qualities are of Obama. The others have spoken positively about McCain in the past, and I would be interested to see what she would admit. Both candidates have to have some good attributes to get that far. EH consistently defending everything Republican candidates and their pundits say is not loyalty, it is a blind following.

Joyce W. Davis Says:
“She said, ‘you talked to Hammity this morning? Did you really?’ in a really sarcastic tone and then looked totally fed up and shook her head.”
Yeah, I kinda wonder about that too. Don’t get me wrong, I DO think Bits gets her daily talking points but I am skeptical that Bits actually spoke with Sean this morning. I see Joy is too.
Amy, you’re welcome!

Rain, that lady supposedly volunteers for the McCain campaign and spreads the smear mails. No doubt she FW:FW:FW’ds all those “ObamaisaMuslimSocialistNonFlagWavingTerrorist” emails. And I have no doubt that these people do so with full knowledge as well as the encouragement from the McCain campaign.
Other volunteers are going door to door, spreading the Muslim terrorist allegations. They are also comparing Obama to Osama. Reeeal nice

I’M GOING TO START SENDING ‘FIRE HASSELBECK’ EMAILS TO ABC AGAIN. WHY DON’T THEY JUST HAVE HANNITY AS A CO-HOST? INSTEAD OF THE TOOL?

Stacee:
Did you hear about New York (home of 9/11) sending out absentee ballots that gave your choice for president as: John McCain or Barack Osama?
They (of COURSE), claimed ‘typo’, but are the B and the S keyboard neighbors? Oh, I smell BS alright.

Re the race issue: Blonde me [I had chemical help, but it was subtle and natural-looking as opposed to TLB] used to live in the Philadelphia burbs. My car broke down in West Philly, which is nothing like North Philly, but is for the most part block after block of black families. This was before cell phones. I got out of my car and noticed a public phone sign up the block. A young man exited his house and headed to his car. He saw me, hesitated, then said that phone is broken and offered me a ride to a working public phone. I obviously wasn’t from the neighborhood and I knew what flashed through his mind was jeez, if I talk to her is she going to start screaming rape? He dropped me off at a corner grocery with a working phone.
It was a funny dance around stereotypes. Old stereotypes that McPalin is dredging up again.

Regarding that character Andy Martin on Hannity…ff the View people would REALLY do ANY homework, they’d find out his REAL name is Anthony R. Martin-Trigona, perennial losing candidate for public office and one of the truly great vexatious litigators not to mention speaks as if he is an anti-semitic. Vexatious litagation is legal action which is brought, regardless of its merits, solely to harass or subdue an adversary.
Regarding anything that comes out of Andy Martin’s mouth, one should always consider the source. http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/10/obamas_muslim_rumor_creator_ex.html
Hope that link shows up. They don’t show up for me in here when I try to post and then the entire post is removed. Perhaps it’s a glitch (?).

Nevermind, it is there.
I think it is arrogant to wear boots so often “in these times of economic crisis.” Sure, their high heel shoes probably cost 100s of dollars, but for most women, their budget only allows 1, maybe 2 pairs of boots.

As scared as I am with the election getting closer, I must say it is a relief to come to this message board and see that there still are intelligent people in the US, I know education is something that is looked down on in the current administration, but those of us that think the constitution is important, and reading and going to the library are good things are gaining some ground, finally.

As women on this site, I am surprised you are not up in arms over this? No woman should be called this….I would think the huffington post would have something to say….NOT!
October 13th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
I just watched the clips of the hot topics. Just wanted to add on something about Sherri…she is like a different person coming out. She looked so together today and even better she sounded mature, informed, and intelligent. Women that get attention by their tits or looks and cheap sex talk are a dime a dozen, especially in Hollywood…so I would be really proud of and happy for Sherri as a person if she moves away from that and keeps developing this new level she’s reached. I find her far more interesting to listen to and more attractive as a whole as a result of this growth.
October 13th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
i get so tired of listening to Elizabeth. So tired that I hardly watch the show. Besides being rude (she interupts too much)her views are ignorant, especially her views on bill ayers and she likes sean hamity! She is so far right that she loses all credability. She should leave the show. find another conservative but get someone who will at least listen. Who has her so programmed? She’s a republican puppet!

#44. Stacee,
You mean she was a plant? Was the whole thing fake? That’s really low if that’s the case.
October 13th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
i don’t understand why elisabeth is so upset about obamas supposed ties to william ayers (of course it is really all she has at this point)what does she think, if elected he’ll appoint ayers secretary of state? people should be more concerned about mccain’s ties to all those lobbyists…those are the people that really influence policy in washington
October 13th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
#58 Rainlillie, it wouldn’t surprise me if the woman at the mccain town hall meeting was a plant…the mccain campaign is trying to have it both ways…spread the lies and hatred out of one side of their mouth and condemn it out of the other side
October 13th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
PRIOR PSOT: Terrorists are those who hate America. That includes the AIP, which Sarah and Todd, were both active.
RESPOSNE: I think the tie to AIP is pertinent. However, I don’t believe they are terrorist. People can hate AMerica and not be terrorists. If we get sloppy with terms, it makes it more volatile to discuss issues.
My understanding is that AIP hates America, and their solution is a vote that was denied them 50 years ago. Now they want the vote so that they can choose not to be part of the union, but that’s hardly a terrorist activity! A vote is about as non-violent as it gets. I’ve never heard of any violence associated with the group, nor any violence conducted on their behalf.
October 13th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Rain, no I don’t think she was a plant or anything.
But she volunteers for the campaign and is spreading misinformation (which I think is shameful).
October 13th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
I have never posted on a blog…ever. But I have been a regular here for a while. I gave up watching the View for the most part months ago when things got too ugly. I love reading Winnie’s blog and will watch occasionally, when I can stomach it. The hate and vitriol spewed by EH and tolerated by BW and BG turns me off. But the best part lately has been the comments by Kelly. You are incredibly intelligent, informed and witty! I must say I look forward to seeing your posts. And not without bias…I understand from former posts of yours that you seem to be in Lake County OH…so am I. So glad that others are “out there”! Seems this area is a little too Red for me.
So to Kelly and many of the other regulars…rainlillie, mibi, shannonp. stacee, and many others, know that although only a few may post here, many appreciate YOUR views.
October 13th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
I was going to comment on how Elisabeth “did it again” but I see at least two people beat me to it:
” Elisbeth said that then we should look at Michelle Obama because she has “strong world views.” Sherri said that Michelle is not doing things to affect his policy views or make changes. Elisabeth said, “You don’t know.” ”
“i swear one day elisabeth is going to actually say “i’m rubber, you’re glue, what bounces off me sticks on you””
LOL. I was thinking of EXACTLY that quote from school days.
She did the same thing the day she was given the floor to explain what was so good about McCain, and her response was “Well, what’s so good about Obama.” I don’t think she knows why she believes what she says she believes.
October 13th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Regarding AIP and TP, I’ve heard nothing about whehter he was ever in a leadership role. BUt he apparently showed up, with his wife, often enough that the leadership and organization thought she was a member too. The misinformation on SP being a member didn’t come from conjecture - someone in leadership advised media that she was a member - and then had to retract it a few days later.
I EH is pulling a Clinton - just what is the definiton of “active” membership.
Come to think of it, I assume membership has some kind of dues. Just why would he pay dues for several years (even if inactive) if wasn’t sympathetic to their goals.
October 13th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Today was my last day watching The View until after the election. EH should be told by the producers that she sounds like a half-baked airhead. She makes the same inane, unsubstantiated comments show after show. Enough already!
October 13th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
I’ve always believed that Sherri is far more intelligent than some gave her credit for.
I think in the past she just leaned on her comedy more, until the time came when she was brave enough to express her own. She took some hard hits when she first came on.
October 13th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Earlier today, I listened to a black man who resides in London tell his story of being shot 3 times for wearing a Barack Obama T-shirt. This is what happens when you incite racism. The man’s name is difficult to pronounce, so I won’t attempt to spell it. Judging from his accent, he was from perhaps Kenya or Nigeria.
That is truly sad. He stated the man was in fact using racial slurs during the time he was harrassing him for no reason whatsoever.
This has got to stop. No one wins with racism and hate.
October 13th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
At the McCain rally, Pastor Arnold Conrad “prayed” for McCain to win because “there are others who are praying to THEIR god for the opponent and they will make their god bigger than you” Somewhat paraphrasing…but the man actually said that the Almighty God’s reputation is at stake if Obama wins. Of course, it is reported that they (McCains’ and the campaign) have distant themselves from this person. Can’t believe some people. *SMH*
October 13th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
More and more each day I am getting to enjoy Joy’s growing annoyance with EH. I’m pretty sure that off camera she only talks to her when she has to. I mean who could honestly be friends with someone like that? I have Republican friends, and almost my entire family is Republican, but they at least know when to admit when they are wrong or when their candidate has done something wrong himself. That is what mature intelligent adults do. EH seems to be lacking this ability completely and it’s making it close to impossible for the other ladies to even attempt to hold a decent political conversation with her. They are basically beating a dead horse and I couldn’t imagine how frustrating that must be for them. But bless them for trying every single morning!
I love that Joy, unlike Whoopie, sticks to her beliefs no matter what kind of reaction she knows will come from EH. Whoopie, for some reason tries to stay neutral even though it’s obvious she is more liberal from reading her blogs and stuff. This just shows that she is walking on egg shells around EH. And not because she is afraid of the lash out from EH but because she doesn’t want to hear the stupidity (I guess I can’t blame her for that one). But I love that Joy will basically entice EH to keep blabbing her nonsense so we can keep witnessing her tiny mind at work. Joy is a lot smarter then people give her credit for. And it was just freaking classic when EH declared how she talked to her boyfriend Hannity that morning and Joy let out that oh-so-sarcastic “really? you did?” That was brilliance.
Boy EH sure does have all the major Republicans on speed dial doesn’t she. First, Sarah Palin’s camp, then Hannity himself. Who’s next? I bet Ann Coutier is the godmother of her children!
October 13th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
#60. susieq, I agree, nothing surprises me anymore. After all Bush use have plants at his town hall meetings and faux reporters too.
# 62. Stacee, Thanks for the info. You’re right it is shameful.
Lajet,
I read statements made by the founder of the AIP, he said: “The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government.”
Todd Palin was a member and I’m sure he knew what the groups core beliefs were. If Michelle Obama belonged to such a group, Faux News would talk about it 24/7.
http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/aip_founder_professed_hatred_f.php
October 13th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
This whole thing is so high schoolish. The only problem now a days in school if someone gets their feelings hurt or they are denied something they want, people get hurt.
As far as EH and Hannity… they made this bed when they talked up how bad it would be if Hillary (and Bill) got in office.
As far as Palin’s husband influence…wouldn’t that apply under the same theory they had of Bill’s affect on Hillary’s presidency or vice presidency? Was that one of EH and media’s argument about Hilary? Hmmmmm!
Did anyone watch Palin speak today? She didn’t seem comfortable at all. She actually looked scared or out of sorts. The enthusiasm was missing in her speech today. Even the crowd had a look of “what is going on?” The vibes between her and Cindy McCain also seemed to off. Just my assessment.

EdnaEgan – it must get exhausting being wrong all the time? You should put down the Jack Daniels and try a little Merlot, you might find that you’re not only able to dress yourself again, you might actually put on something stylish! Give your mom a break already.
As far as those dumb shirts…Are those people extremists (unlike the regulars here) – or are they McCain plants? This looks like an inside job to me, for no one would vote for Obama using this political ploy. I guess we’ll never know – since your boy has already cried wolf. And there is no evidence Pat, those shirts are campaign sponsored – please.
Where was your outrage when Hillary’s Mad Cow shirts hit the market? Hmmmmoooo?
ACORN Smaycorn – there is no concern by anyone that multiple registrations turn into multiple votes. This is another GOP Tempest in a Teapot, the laying of the groundwork for throwing out thousands of legitimate registrations along with the bad. Baby and bathwater, bye-bye.
Where was your outrage when Diebold rigged the 2004 election? Hmmmmhypocrite?
By the looks of this race, ACORN shouldn’t help/hurt either party, no matter how hard the GOP tries. Excellent ACORN article here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rick-hasen/the-purge-surgewhy-the-go_b_133786.html?page=4&show_comment_id=16702285#comment_16702285
The Washington Independent states, “Once again, CNN and the Republican operatives neglect to mention this: Even if thousands of ACORN workers register thousands of non-existent voters simply to make a quick buck — and the evidence points to that as the workers’ motive — those non-existent people are NOT showing up to vote on election day.” Google: Washington Independent CNN ACORN
There Edna, take that. I love calling it Edna.

“I love that Joy, unlike Whoopie, sticks to her beliefs no matter what kind of reaction she knows will come from EH. Whoopie, for some reason tries to stay neutral even though it’s obvious she is more liberal from reading her blogs and stuff.”
I have to say I totally agree with that point. I don’t know what to believe regarding Whoopi. She says one thing on her blog and seems to convey a totally different sentiment on the show. It seems that she is afraid to say what she really feels.
I like Joy because she isn’t repeating talking points from Hannity…By the way if you’re going to parrot someone, at least pick someone smart.
Sherri does seem to be more engaged which is good. The criticism that she received early on was justified. Remember the whole earth is flat thing? Keep up the good work Sherri and Joy keep doing what you’re doing.

October 14th, 2008 at 7:39 am
Rainlillie - If I contradicted anything you said about AIP I take it back. I don’t disagree with anything you said. They do profess hatred for America. I only intended to draw the line at calling them terrorists. I don’t see any evidence they are terrorists. In fact, my understanding is they seek a peaceful resolution to the problem - which is to allow them to secede. This may be delusional thinking, but it isn’t violent.
October 14th, 2008 at 7:49 am
PRIOR POST: As far as Palin’s husband influence…wouldn’t that apply under the same theory they had of Bill’s affect on Hillary’s presidency or vice presidency? Was that one of EH and media’s argument about Hilary? Hmmmmm!
RESPONSE:
1. Hillary was very influential in Bill’s administration. So was Abigail Adams in John’s administration. It’s been going on for decades. HIllary was perhaps the most influential - but depends on your definition. Nancy was scheduling Ronnie’s travel according to astrology readings.
2. Hillary did not sit in for Bill. She was given a discrete task, and reported to Bill who decided how to proceed, just as with other people.
3. Bill & Hillary learned it was a bad idea to have Hillary working that heavily in policy. When things go wrong (and that can be due to mistakes, incompetence, or just the vagaries of life and politics) you can’t fire a spouse. It complicates things. Hillary eventually took a more traditional First Lady Role. She did it in a bigger way than most - speaking overseas, fighting for women. But so did Eleanor (although maybe that was after she became a widow, I can’t remember).
In the case of TP & SP, TP is sitting in on meetings with SP, and sometimes without SP when the other attendees expected to get speaking to SP!!! TP stepped over a line that Hillary never did.

I hope Joy keeps giving it to her and kudos to Sherri, she’s really doing her homework…..I’ve always loved Whoopi, but today she dropped a few notches, why does she have to follow every criticism/comment with ‘but I like him/her’….just say what you have to say and mean it!!!!
As an outsider, I would love to see Obama become President, he is a class act and such an asset to your country…..but then I think, no I don’t want him to, there are so many idiots out there, what if something were to happen to him, God forbid….
EdnaEgan…..you need to grow a brain.
October 14th, 2008 at 8:19 am
Lajet,
We’re cool! I agree with your point. You’re right they haven’t committed any acts of terrorism against the USA. My problem is really with the media and Palin. Her hubby’s group wanted to secede from the USA and she and her supporters have a nerve to question Obama’s patriotism.
October 14th, 2008 at 8:22 am

My point was if EH and her croonies alluded to Bill’s influence over Hilary and Obama being a problem then how come it can’t also apply to the Palin’s especially after the roll he played in Alaska. Aren’t we taking a bigger chance on him when there is so many more unknowns surrounding him. McCain preaches Obama is an unknown but he contradicts himself by picking an unknown. How is that doing what’s best for the country?

We don’t need change, we need expereince - oh, wait, change is good. unwed, teenage black pregnancies are “a problem” but unwed, teenage white babies are a blessed event. Partisan politics should be part of an investigation, so the 3-member panel that serves at the pleasure of the governor is preferable to hte Republican dominated lesiglature. And the list goes on.

EH - babe - you’re days are numbered on the View.
