The View October 6th: Felicity Huffman

by Winnie McCarthy

Today on The View, Barbara Walters was back, but Joy Behar was absent. According to Whoopi Goldberg, Joy was “working elsewhere” today and will be back.

The first topic was how Barbara Walters attended Howard Stern’s wedding. Beth Ostrosky’s wedding dress had a cut-out on the side. Whoopi said that women on Bridezillas always wear crazy dresses showing skin. Barbara showed some other photos from the wedding, including one of her posing with Donald Trump. Bill Geddie was her date for the wedding. He loved Beth’s dress. Sherri asked Barbara if she thought the marriage would last. Barbara said she thinks so, noting that Howard vowed that he would TiVo all Beth’s favorite lousy reality shows. Barbara did not know that anyone could get a license to marry people. Whoopi suggested that she could do that as a side job. Whoopi said she would marry her cat if Barbara got a license.

The next topic was the Vice Presidental debate last Thursday. Sherri said that seeing Joe Biden speak instilled a lot of confidence in her and she admired all of his experience in the Senate. Elisabeth said, “Don’t you see that in McCain?” Sherri said yes, but she is concerned about Palin dealing with heads of state, noting that she winked several times. Sherri said that when Palin didn’t answer a question and instead started talking about energy, Sherri threw the remote at the TV. Elisabeth thought she did a good job and focused people on areas she wanted people to hear about. Barbara said that Palin even said that she would not answer the questions. Sherri said she thought that a debate was supposed to be answering a question. Elisabeth said that you are supposed to tell the truth and Biden said things that were not true, like the cost of the war. Whoopi thought the debate was like seeing someone you really want to be with and then you are with them and you are like “That’s it?” She did not anticipate either one messing up and it did not wake her up to anything new. Barbara said the debate did not appear to make a difference, but provided more fodder for Saturday Night Live.

Barbara said she is concerned that Palin’s infant son was at the debate because it was so late at night. Elisabeth said that it was only 8:00 p.m. at the time in Alaska and the baby should be with their parents. Sherri said a baby needs a routine and should be on the time of the time zone they are in and suggested they could have had someone else watching the baby. Elisabeth said that she would want her children to be at the debate for her. She said that Tim always wanted them waiting for them in the tunnel after football games because it was a stressful day for him.

After the break, they showed a clip from last Saturday’s Saturday Night Live, where they had a skit about the VP debate. Barbara said that she gives Palin credit because she is so likeable and has to have a sense of humor about herself. Sherri said kudos to Tina Fey for the great job. Whoopi added, “Beautifully done.”

Palin has accused of Barack Obama of “palling around with terrorists,” while the Obama campaign is talking about John McCain’s involvement in the Keating 5. Barbara said that the Ayers issues came out in the primary and Obama addressed it and they are just re-hashing it. Elisabeth said it is still important. She added 9/11 in the past, but it is still important. Barbara said that we should not be talking about the Keating 5 anymore, either. She said that we should discuss the economy and health care, rather than discrediting people on either side. Whoopi said that Ayers turned himself into the Feds and assumes he has rehabilitated himself because no one is going after him for terrorist activity. She said that people have pasts and sometimes you just need to focus on the present and what are you doing now. She does not believe that his students and their parents are carousing with terrorists. Elisabeth tried to interrupt several times, but Whoopi kept saying “let me finish.”

Elisabeth said McCain was cleared of wrongdoing in Keating 5. Barbara asked her if she thinks that they should get past all the smears and she said “No, because (the Ayers connection) is not a smear.” Elisabeth said that Obama went to Ayers’ house for a fundraiser. She said that Ayers said after 9/11 that he was not-repentant about the bombings he had done. Sherri got very excited and said, “No, you don’t!” and said that Ayers was not talking about 9/11, but was talking about his book prior to that time. Barbara asked Elisabeth again about getting past the smears and Elisabeth said “It’s the truth.” Whoopi said it is because McCain is losing and he is bringing out garbage that did not work for Clinton and won’t work for him. Elisabeth said that her main problem with Obama is that he is hiding things. Sherri pointed out that he addressed the Ayers issue at the primary debate. Elisabeth then said that Obama is hiding all his “radical connections.” Whoopi almost said, “That’s bullshit,” but stopped herself and then they went to commercial. EDITED TO ADD: I just watched the clip of this part again and I missed the fact that before they went to commercial, Whoopi told Elisabeth that she is “spreading crap.” You can watch the video of this segment and the segment about the VP debate here: The View Hot Topics October 6th.

After the break, they showed pictures of the candidates showing how they have changed during the campaign. Barack Obama looks more gray-haired and Sherri joked, “every little bit of white helps.” They all agreed that McCain looks better and Whoopi said she is glad his face went down. They think that Biden may have had botox because his forehead did not move during the debate. Elisabeth noted that Palin’s bangs did not move during the debate, either. Sherri said that Palin looks sexy with her hair down and it is probably why she wears it up. Whoopi told her Sherri needs to get a little something-something.

They talked about Sleeping Beauty on DVD and showed a picture of Elisabeth and Grace at the Disney event for the video. Barbara noted that Grace is adorable, but looks just like Tim. She joked that she is not sure she is Elisabeth’s child, but she is Tim’s. Elisabeth agreed, noting (again) that she calls her “Timberly.” Whoopi told the story (again) about about when her daughter was born she looked like an Asian baby and Whoopi did not think it was hers. Whoopi said that she still gets excited watching fairy tales.

Felicity Huffman from Desperate Housewives appeared on the show. The show has picked up five years into the future. She said it wiped the slate clean and they could get rid of any story lines that did not work. She was sad to see the actors that played her children go because they had to be replaced by older actors. They played a clip of next week’s episode in which her character’s husband wants to be in a band.

Her real-life husband, William H Macy, got a motorcycle as part of a mid-life crisis. He wears a leather jacket and looks hot. He did a movie called Wild Hogs and they gave him a motorcycle. She has two daughters in real-life who are six and eight. She knows the teenage years will be daunting because you need to be closer than ever, but back-off. Whoopi said it is like surfing and from age 12 you won’t do anything right until they are 19.

Felicity is working with Iams Home for the Holidays to encourage adoption of homeless pets. They have a goal of 1 million adoptions, of which 750,000 would have been put to sleep otherwise. She adopted a black lab mix and they showed a photo of her with him. Whoopi joked, “I thought that was a picture of you and me.” Felicity laughed and told Whoopi that she has a crush on her. Felicity said that the dog sort of adopted them because he came up to them at the shelter.

The next segment was “Fall Fashions,” where they talked about, you guessed it, fall fashions. I did not really pay attention, so, sorry, if you want details on the clothes and boots. If you buy shoes at Marshall’s, they will donate $1 to the fight to end domestic violence.

  1. Deborah Says:

EH was way out of line today with regards to her comments about Obama hiding his radical connections. Does she really think because Obama was friends with Ayers when he was 8 YEARS OLD that he is supporting his radical ways.

    She disgusts me.

Bill Geddes should be ashamed that he has allowed The View become a platform for EH to spout of her extreme republican views.

She sits like a coiled snake waiting to strike out at anyone who dares oppose her republican views.

Disgustung and hateful is how she came across today, more so than usual.

  2. rainlillie Says:

“Whoopi said it is because McCain is losing and he is bringing out garbage that did not work for Clinton and won’t work for him.”

    That’s it in a nutshell.

  3. Roger from Ohio Says:

Im really getting tired of this.

Yes EH spews venom any chance she gets….yes she over talks others….. yes they point out when she is wrong….. yes they argue about views.

Then they tell Whoopi to go to commercial and when they come back all are smiling and they move on to some dribble that matters to no one.

There really isnt any honesty on this show.

My favorite show would be if they spent the hour discussing the Tues debate on Wed morning. Instead they will keep telling each other how wrong the other is then jump to commercial…. how disappointing.

  4. heather speaks Says:

elizabeth proved today that she gets her talking points from the rnc and fox news.
unfortunately, there are americans out there who believe this “garbage” and no amount of truth already proven that obama is not a radical will change their small minds. they are beating a dead horse with all this nonsense because they know when the real issues are discussed, mccain cannot win the argument. less than honorable people always try to deflect attention away from themselves.

  5. Lorraine Says:

I absolutely agree. Though I don’t want to see them “carry on”, getting very upset with each other before commercial and coming back like it never happened is dishonest. It’s like watching 2 different shows, before commercial, after commercial. So two-faced.

  6. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Deborah–

Just to be clear…. Obama sat on a board with Ayers after he started running for state senate

When Ayers did the bad things that are being reported Obama was 8 years old at that time.

When Obama met him, it was after Ayers went to trial (I believe the case was thrown out) It was years later when Ayers came public about the things he did in a book he wrote. (Fugitive Days: A Memoir)

To be clear……. Ayers did bad things when Obama was 8…… Obama sat on a board with Ayers and Ayers held 1 fund raiser when Obama was running for State Senate…..Obama NEVER did anything bad or illegal with Ayers.

  7. Sasha Says:

I’d love to be in the audience or talk to someone else who has got the chance to attend a taping, just to see what goes on during those infamous commercial breaks. I wonder if they really tell each other off while off camera!

  8. Carol Says:

Barack Obama was 8 YEARS OLD when Ayers took part in non-fatal bombings at the Pentagon and the U.S Capitol FOUR DECADES AGO.
Obama served on a charity board with Ayers in Chicago; he also lives in Ayers’ neighborhood and was taken to his house to attend a fund raiser when he was first starting out in politics. Obama has denounced Ayers’ past activities.
OBAMA DOES NOT PAL AROUND WITH AYERS.

EH SHOULD SHUT HER MOUTH. SHE IS DISGUSTING AND SO IS SARAH PALIN AND JOHN MCCAIN!

    Regarding McCain and Keating 5:
McCain and Keating had become personal friends following their initial contacts in 1981, and McCain was the only one of the five with close social and personal ties to Keating. Like DeConcini, McCain considered Keating a constituent as he lived in Arizona. Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates. In addition, McCain’s wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating’s expense, sometimes aboard Keating’s jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating’s opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln S & L. Because of these connections, Phoenix New Times writer Tom Fitzpatrick stated in 1989 that McCain was the “most reprehensible” of the five. (taken from Wikipedia).

So again EH, shut your face!

  9. Roger from Ohio Says:

I hope u all realize how sad I was today….. there was no Joy on the view *weep*

  10. Keith Griffin Says:

Where did this informed, smart Sherri come from? It’s like two totally different people from last year to this year

  11. rainlillie Says:

    Great post, Carol!

  12. Roger from Ohio Says:

A Rolling Stones article on John McCain

send it to everyone that u know that is even thinking about voting for McCain.

    http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_real_john_mccain

  13. NOTIMPRESSED Says:

    Carol#8

..I wish you had been on the show today..you said it ALL…and we all know Lizzy wouldn’t agree that her mouth was full of shit if it was…she spends most of her life in denial…she is s-o-o-o pathetic.

Gee I had a great few days in Bermuda and great to get away from all the BS for a while
and missed the debate nor did I care to spoil my R&R watching it. But we all knew how it would go anyway. PALIN is clearly on the losing end and she and McCain both know it…thus bringing up all the past trash
    they can muster.

  14. Carolyn Says:

Palin commented in her debate that Biden was stuck in the past, not looking forward. What was this Ayer’s thing then?

Deal with substance and issues that concern the American people, like employment, health care, social security and education.

Elizabeth, whom I thought to be intelligent has just proved that she is as gullible as the sources she gets her information from.

    Please, think before you speak!

    Take a look at this:

    http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/10/1/22234/6599/102/617219

  15. Carol Says:

After seeing the close ties the Bush family had with the Bin Laden family, the last thing twit needs to say is what someone else is “hiding”. What about Palin’s association with AIP, which, like terrorist, hate America. The twit had no comment about that, did she? See, this typical of the McCain camapaign. They don’t want to discuss the issues. Just attack the character of your opponent and what better way to instill fear than to say he is Muslim and is associated with terrorists.

Meanwhile, we have Palin under investigation and she and her husband have been served supoenas(sp). The Keating 5, where I think McCain and his wife, even after a full confession, were just slapped on the wrist. But, that is overlooked. I hope Obama and his campaign comes out swinging and sticking to the issues as well. Handle the smear with class and continue inform the people you represent.

If you live a glass house, you should not throw stones. Don’t talk about the speck you see in someone else’s eye and not see that PLANK in your own.

  16. susan brown Says:

I was living in California at the time of the Keating Five. CA senator Alan Cranston (R) was the one who took the fall for the deal and lost his next election. McCain was as guilty as Cranston.I am sick to death of EH and her screeeeching voice. I was so proud of Sherri today!! The woman must be reading, listening and observing on her own. Good for Sherri - you go, girl. Now - - - what is the real reason Joy was not present today?

  17. Carol Says:

    Thank you Carol #8!!!!

  18. Amy Says:

What did Sherri say? Thanks Carol #8 and #14!!

I just want to say, you are going to vote for who you want. Just make sure you HONESTLY feel is the best. Unlike EH, don’t support someone anyone, just because they re Republican or even Democrat. Learn for yourself.

  19. Cape Cod Says:

I cannot believe that the producers let EH spew her undeducated crap across America. I guess that’s what the first amendment is all about…you can say whatever you want, whenever you want, whether it’s the truth or not???? As a mother of children her age, it is appalling to listen to her because she, like the “Stepford Wife” Sarah Palin, just repeats what is fed to them by the Republican party. EH has not once had an original opinion or thought with regards to this campaign. I am embarrassed for her.

  20. lynn c Says:

EH does not even hear what BW, WG and SS are saying as she is just sitting there waiting to open her mouth and let the ignorance spew forth. Apparently, she is all for the smearing of candidates, even if (1.) the issue(s) have already been addressed and (2.) the issue (s) are false or being misrepresented. She embarrasses herself daily. And as others have posted, after the break, which BG always calls when the “view” gets too hot, all come back smiles and with their “we love each other” faces pasted on. What crap.

TIME magazine recently had an article on The View which gave them credit for asking hard questions. Mebbe, but the screeching and shrieking done by EH far out numbers whatever the others are trying to get across. She needs to find a different outlet for her opinions, she is absolutely ruining The View.

  21. Dee Says:

I made the mistake of watching today and should have turned it off when I heard Joy was not on.

This BS about smears from both sides, “The Red, White and View” is one of the biggest agents of spreading smears via the screeching Chihuahua Hasselbeck. She is vile and disgusting. The fact that she gets to spout horrid lies and distortions unchecked is slander.

And then there is Babs who has to take another swipe at Rosie with her good bud, Donald Trump. What a pair, they deserve he other.

As for Sherri, you go girl. Bits isn’t your friend and she would knife you if she thought you had an advantage. Don’t believe that the barracude is going to do anything for your special needs child, if it isn’t needed in her family then she isn’t going to worry about yours.

  22. lynn c Says:

One more comment on today’s show: BW photo at Howard Stern’s wedding, with The Donald. Her comment irked me. She could have said nothing. There are still View viewers who remember how horrible Trump acted toward Rosie and who have no utter use for the guy.

  23. DL Says:

To Elisabeth: You can spout off all you want about linking Obama to Ayers and Wright. We’ve heared it all before. America’s not buying it. Not this time!

In case you haven’t noticed (while living in your ivory tower) the economy is imploding, 159,000 jobs were lost last month, millions don’t have health care, we are in two wars where young kids are being killed almost daily and the Republicans only want a smear campaign. Talking about Ayers is not going to fix the economy or end the war. McCain/Palin don’t have a plan - only nasty remarks. Palin is bordering on the B word.

    Obama/Biden 08

  24. May Says:

Barbara and even Sherri (?what’s up with that?)tried to explain that McCain was faulted for bad judgement in the Keating case but as usual EH ignored it and said Mccain was cleared! She listens to nobody but her own voice (and Fauxnews and Hannity). Hannity had a disturbing show on last nite that I saw as I was flipping the dial. It was everything bad about O’Bama and his associations with Ayers,Wright and the “other terrorists”. They showed unflattering photos of Barak and spewed vial suggestions that he is hiding radical views, just like EH. They didn’t show an equal say from the democratic side (you know,”fair and balanced”). Sean Hannity is indeed a hate monger, like McCain seems to be. I can’t wait till this election is over and O’Bama is elected (please God!)

  25. G.L.Nyquist Says:

For E.H.—-Stand your ground my friend.Put on the full armour of GOD. He will give you the grace & fortitutde to deal with these women. Being Christians we both know what will become of all who turn away from Him in the end. We will all stand before Him and account for all that we do & say. I am praying for you .

  26. Roger from Ohio Says:

Bush gave a speech today. In it he said this little gem

Americans that pay their mortgage are asking, why do we have to bail out Wall St? Bush answers…. because these guys standing behind me would be in worse shape if we didnt.

And ladies and gentlemen, That is the problem today….. Americans get the bill and Bush’s Texas buddies get the cash.

  27. jenny mortimore Says:

Elisabeth - you are racist and homophobic. I truly wish Ms Walters would get rid of you! Your attacks on obama are just plain mean and nasty. You truly are a silly little girl with nothing to say that any one with half a brain would want to hear. Because of you and your childish outbursts I will no longer be watching the veiw - and there are a lot of people out there that feel the same way. Just go away.

  28. bree Says:

hateful hateful liberals. Talk about spewing venom. The epitomy of desperate housewives on this blog. A bunch of women in there late 30’s early 40’s who waited till they were 38 to have kids unhappy with there lives and themselves. So they hate on a a younger prettier version of themselves so sad.

  29. Diana Says:

EH You live in a one way narrow Tunnel.
I really get tiered of the interuptions
and the winey voice. I have to turn the
show off when you start talking.

  30. misslingdow Says:

I was actually very, very impressed today with Sherri– I hope this transformation lasts.

How sad for McCrypt Keeper to have to resort to this low class form of campaigning. I look for the pictures of Obama wearing the turban to resurface, the pictures of Obama’s African grandmother with the chicken and of course the Rev Wright crap to come back– Let the mudslinging commence–

    “Say it ain’t so Joe!!”

  31. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Reading May’s post #22 made me wonder…..

If Obama gets elected, and Sean Hannity continues to spew his questionably truthful, hate filled, “facts” (if not downright lies) then will the Secret Service shut him down for “Threating the President”?

personally I dont think they should wait.

  32. Lorraine Says:

Where did you get that Rolling Stone link? That article is something else….

  33. G.L. Says:

The “Rev. Wright Crap” you can not tell me that Obama was in that church for 20 years & never heard that so called Man Of God spew his hatred, or for that matter the Rev.Pflager’s hatred.

  34. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Lorraine

I am on a local democrat email list and it was sent to me on there.

  35. Real Says:

Sherri and Sarah Palin have both been studying.
However, Sherri sounds a lot smarter than Sarah Palin.
    Pretty scary.

  36. Real Says:

Whoopi & Eh were also in a heated exchange before the first commercial break. Whoopi kept telling EH that she keeps either sending or spreading crap out there (to the viewing public).

    Pretty much.

  37. Real Says:

They played nice after the commercial, because they had to do a giveaway of the Sleeping Beauty DVD.

Disney after all is the happiest place on earth- so they can’t call each other names, and then turn around and give away a happy DVD.

  38. May Says:

I just noticed in my above post (#22) that I’ve been spelling Obama’s name as O’Bama…don’t know where I picked that up..silly ain’t it? Also in my post I wrote “spewed VIAL suggestions” ..should be VILE suggestions. Guess I’m still keyed up after the “set-to” between the ladies and the nitwit this a.m.
Roger from Ohio # 25 good idea!

  39. rodan Says:

I am so tired of the bias on this show. Elizabeth isn’t given her voice and is often treated in a patronizing manner. This is the “view” and she does speak for many women and men who watch the show however I guess the “view” is only allowing one perspective - one view. The View makes me want to spew. I used to love you Whoopi. What happened? What happened to most of you. Elizabeth is the only one still sticking to her view and representing those like her - the rest of you have sold out and it is obvious.

  40. Winnie McCarthy Says:

For those who missed it, I have posted links to video clips of the hot topics from today:
    http://www.watchingtheview.com/the-view-october-6th-hot-topics-video/

  41. marjie Says:

I understand this website is about the tv
show “The View”. There are four, sometimes
five, women who are hosts? Three of the hosts are obviously liberals, one is either way but lately leaning towards the left, the fifth is obviously conservative. This means
three (or four) against one. Why do so many of the bloggers applaud what the liberals
say but do not seem to want hear anything that the conservative host has to say? Some
seem to not even want her on the show because her view is not the same as theirs.
I find it interesting to talk with friends
and hear different viewpoints and I would
think that this would be the basis of the
show itself. Also, is it a requirement to
call people names or use vulgar language in
order to post on this blog?

applaud everything the liberals say but either

  42. Dyhanne Says:

Its always amazes me how someone so perfect can sling such crap. Iam sure that a younger EH never was friendly with anyone who smoked pot, did drugs, stole, or
had connections with political unsavory. Wouldn’t it be nice to ask EH if any one she associated with at 8 was now associated with a undesirable group. I just try to remember that she is young and idealist.

Sheri is obviously watch, reading, observing this election and is trying to make a informed descision. Way to go.

I would love to hear Whoopie’s view’s uncensored.

  43. Roger from Ohio Says:

you are so on the ball Winnie!!!!

and so friendly too……. what a gal!

  44. Stacee Says:

They speculate that Biden has had botox but did not mention his MIL’s passing?
    Wow.

  45. Jane Says:

Today was just too too much. EH views I usually thought was good to see another side to the story. But with this political thing, its getting harder and harder to see the sunshine in her. Its actually was a very scary feeling watching her support what McCain/Palin are saying and doing. She’s usually a spokesman for what’s right, religiously and morally but with this election thing she seems to be putting that on the back burner just to make sure a Rep can be elected. Me, being a religious person, this election scares me. If we support this type of think process what does that say for us as a people and what does that say to the world who is watching. She needs to check herself. Because just a couple of months ago she was (1) critical of kids having kids; (2) Hilary campaign distorting the facts and wonder at times why Hilary didn’t address the issues instead; (3) questioned Obamas religious beliefs because of his pastor but have not questions Palins religious beliefs due to her’s. She has been critical of people not being treated fairly but supported of McCain/Palin actions to insure a win. That to me is being hypocritical which is something she has continually in the past stated she hated.

  46. Linda21 Says:

Does eh really want more of the same? Unbelieveable! This is a clip of Congressman Brad Sherman (CA) saying that some members of Congress were told that martial law would be imposed if the bail-out bill was not passed: http://www.dailypaul.com/node/66354

  47. rainlillie Says:

    Yeah Stacee,
that was weird. I know Palin doesn’t read the papers, maybe that’s why she’s rehashing these old smears. Also maybe that’s why she thinks we don’t know about her being under investigation.

  48. Danielle Says:

I have not seen the show yet, but sounds like they didn’t talk about the VP debate…? Is that true? If so, I know why, because Palin did not answer alot of questions, so here we are back to the drawing board. I hope Obama wipes McCain up and down the hall at the next debate. I also hope the Obama campaign lets everyone know that Palin, and her husband this past February attended a convention of a sucessionist group in Alaska, if you want to talk about hating America let’s go. Palin even spoke at the convention, and her husband is a MEMBER still. That happened THIS YEAR! I will personally email all the major news networks about this. They are just as appalling by not letting the public know all this dirt on the Palin’s. It’s shameful. I will give kudos to AP for at least reporting that Obama was 8 years old when that terrorist attack happened. I don’t even think Obama knew about his background- he only served on the same charity board with him, they are not the best of friends. And if the man is a threat why is he still a college professor?

There are so many uneducated idiots in this country, and the newsmedia caudles ignorance.

  49. Winnie McCarthy Says:

Danielle: They discussed the debate. It is in my recap.

  50. Roger from Ohio Says:

    41 Marjie–

Why do so many of the bloggers applaud what the liberals
say but do not seem to want hear anything that the conservative host has to say?

To be honest Marjie, I do want to hear the conservative views, as long as they are honest. When EH spews her venom, she isnt being honest.
–When she says Obama is a bad guy because he knows a bad guy isnt honest… if that were true, we would all be bad guys.
–When she is questioned about McCain or Palin she responds….. Obama/Biden did this or that…. that isnt honest or answering the question.
–I have asked at least 2 people that have been defending the Republican side and havent gotten an answer….. maybe u can answer Marjie.

Do u think that George W Bush has been good for America?

  51. Lajet Says:

Oh am I glad I don’t watch anymore. I can tell from teh reports EH would have given me HBP.

I was doing some political surfing, nothing to do with The View, and ran across an anti-Palin piece. But that’s not why I put it here. Go to this website:
    http://margaretandhelen.wordpress.com/

Then do a word search for “that Elizabeth girl.” It’s about the 8th paragraph down.

Of course if you want to read the rest of the article, I think that’s terrific. But I really did post this becuase of the out-of-the-blue reference to EH, not because of politics.

Rosie really nailed it - identical cousins.

  52. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST: The “Rev. Wright Crap” you can not tell me that Obama was in that church for 20 years & never heard that so called Man Of God spew his hatred, or for that matter the Rev.Pflager’s hatred.

RESPONSE: I’ve seen no evidence, and HEARD NO EVIDENCE including from conservatives who keep harping on it, that suggests Obama hates America, or anything close.
SP on the other hand, attended enough meetings of the AIP - who does hate America and wants to secede from the union - that the leadership thought she was a member, and her husband was a long-time member, and the leadership praised her for becoming a member of a major party (either would do) so that that AIP would be in position to do things in line with the AIP. SP belongs to a church where the pastor told people that if they voted for Kerry they would go to hell. Now, I’ve not seen evidence that Sarah believes these things - but I’ve not heard her denounce them either. Obama forcefully repudiated Wright’s hate.

  53. NettenAZ Says:

In response to GL #33 “The Rev. Wright Crap”….unfortunatley in Black/African American churces some of things are said, not because the Pastor is unpatriotic, it’s how they are able to reach their parishoners. Unless you, (I mean mainstream America) have attended a sermon in an African American church you will never understand the language and content of the sermons. I have attended African American(Baptist), Catholic, Protestant and Non-demoniation Christian. Each pastor knows how to reach their congregation by the communities they reside in. In addition, for anyone to say that Obama attended every service to hear the sermon in question, can only be if you saw in the congregation at that time. My grandmother had old saying: “Belief half of what you hear and all of what you see”. Did you see Senator Obama in church during this particular sermon?????

  54. Patrick Says:

Roger in Ohio: those guys standing behind him represent small business owners everywhere.

And the Weatherman did kill people and the only reason they didn’t kill more is because their mission failed. William Ayers is a terrorist. He may not promote violence today but his political agenda is the same. His core beliefs has not changed only his strategy.

  55. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Lajet

Dont forget that her church still believes in witchcraft also.

It does disappoint me that Obama stayed with that church for as long as he did…… he had to know (even though he wont admit to it) that his preacher was spewing hate from the pulpit. I seriously doubt that Rev Wright changed his sermon if Obama was or wasnt there.

That does NOT mean that he shouldnt run our country……. but it is disappointing

  56. Sandy Says:

    Thanks Winnie,
    Always enjoy reading the recap.

I did get to see the show, which I enjoyed. Guess because I haven’t been able to watch it too much lately.

I agree most with Whoopi, concerning the VP debate. I didn’t anticipate either making many mistakes. (both made a few) Nor did I learn anything new. I would have liked to have heard their answer to the question, what did they think they might have to put on hold, or delay, because of the economic crisis we are having, neither really did.

I agreed with Whoopi again when she said that Gov. Palin would have been created either way, concerning the baby being at the debate.

I’m glad that they showed the clips from SNL, as I had not seen the show. Loved them.

On the next topic, William Ayers, I agreed most with Barb. We should be, the campaign’s should be, past all this smear type stuff.
Everyone had heard about, read about, William Ayers, and the Keating 5, before.
Everyone has formed their opinion concerning this stuff long ago.
Move on to what is really important to the American people. Our economy, and the problems it is posing, and what you are going to do to help. Our health care system, our children’s education, etc.

I loved Sherri’s joke about senator Obama’s hair ..Every bit of white helps. :)

And yes I think Sherri did great today.

I’ve says this before, ..but, I do think they can disagree and have heated discussions and still be on friendly terms after them.

  57. rainlillie Says:

Ayers and Rev Wright aren’t running for office. So been there done that. Palin is married to a man who was a member of the AIP. Some called her hubby a “shadow” governor, because he was involved in a lot of the decisions being made.

  58. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #53 NettenAZ–

unfortunatley in Black/African American churces some of things are said, not because the Pastor is unpatriotic, it’s how they are able to reach their parishioners(sp).

Im not much of a religions guy….It seems to me that when a preacher feels he must spew hate to be able to “reach their parishioners” is really a sad reflection on that church.

Also, how is a “black” church different than a “white” church? I thought they were all suppose to be “worshiping” the same god?

  59. Patrick Says:

    Thank you Roger! #58

  60. Roger from Ohio Says:

    ednaegan–

I have asked u before and didnt receive a response….. I dont expect one again but Ill give u another shot.

Do u think Bush has been good for our country? If so… in what way?

ednaegan replies– (Oct 1st recap post #153)
That depends on what the meaning of the word bad is.

That really isnt an answer…..Im sure in like 2nd grade u were able to define bad.

So again….. Id like to ask the Republican leaning poster……. Do u think George W Bush has been good for our country?

  61. Rebecca Says:

ednaegan- yes this is “slightly” liberal blog but it does make for a good debate.

  62. rainlillie Says:

“There are so many uneducated idiots in this country, and the newsmedia caudles ignorance.”

    Agreed.

  63. Julianne Says:

Ednaegan - what a “flaming hateful” thing to say. If you’re not enjoying yourself, you really should go. Don’t let the door hit you in the a** on the way out. From here, it seems that some of us are willing to agree t disagree.

With regard to Grace - it’s painfully obvious that she’s not a cute child. BW even stopped herself after telling EH that she was pretty. She (BW) had to back up and slide in, something like “oh and Grace is adorable” before she said what most people are thinking: she looks like her Dad - looks fine on a man, but not on a 3-year-old little girl. Maybe she’ll grow out of it. Besides, looks aren’t the measure of a person any way.

  64. Amy Says:

Thanks Julianne. Ednaegan, flaming hateful liberal..is hilarious. Hate and Republican are more synonomous with each other. As Julianne said, don’t let the door hit where the good LORD split cha.

Roger, she/he has yet to answer your question. Taking the Palin route.

  65. Stacee Says:

    ednaegan Says:
“It was a good enough answer for Bubba, so it’s plenty good enough for you.”

    Roger is not Bubba.
Why are you dodging the question?

  66. Jon A. Says:

I felt like Whoopi was very out of line today! Why can’t EH have her opinion of people. The rest sure has theirs about John McCain but God forbid that EH has hers! GO EH!!

  67. Roger from Ohio Says:

He/she is dodging the question because

    A) he/she thinks Bush has been bad for the country but would be a bad Republican to admit it.
    B) he/she is a 22%er (yes they dropped from 29% to 22% thanks to the economy)
    C) he/she doesnt know who George W Bush is

Is it…Ed Naegan? or Edna Egan?

I vote Ed….. although “he” seems kinda blonde

  68. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST:Dont forget that her church still believes in witchcraft also.

RESPOSNE: Got to admit, that one doesnt’ bother me much. I haven’t seen SP on a witch hunt of innocent people (well, there is her brother-in-law issue, but that isn’t in the name of witchcraft.) If you call evil a witch, or Satan, or evil, I’m okay so long as it doesnt’ result to illegal, immoral or unethical behavior (I believe it may have with Rev. Muthee in Africa, but I’m not clear enough ont eh details, and I haven’t heard anything about such things in Alaska). I have a friend who is a wiccan. She uses the words “witch” and “warlock” very different than most. And I’m not clear the different between witchcraft and prayer as an outside observer. You can argue one is more effective, and you might be right, but I’ve never seen the data.

But supporting threats of hell for a political vote is evidence of a religious belief that is out of sync with The Constitution. You’re entitled to that believe (1st A and all) but I don’t want someone in office who so blurs the lines!

  69. NettenAZ Says:

    Roger #58—-

Yes, they worship the God, however, words, context and language are different. Always has been, always will be. It’s fact of culture, people try to deny it or avoid it, but it’s real and there. People don’t have to like it or agree, just be aware that’s all.

  70. Rebecca Says:

There are some very witty people on today, this is much better than watching to View.

  71. marjie Says:

Roger from Ohio…I believe you might be an
interesting person to discuss politics with,
but I’d like to know why you would ask me my
opinion of George W Bush. Would this be a
way of discerning my political position?
And if so, you have just proven my point.

To Danielle….I’m afraid you lost me when
you said that the newsmedia “caudles”
ignorance. What does that mean and whose
    “ignorance” do you refer to?

  72. Heather in LA Says:

Patrick #54 “William Ayers is a terrorist. He may not promote violence today but his political agenda is the same. His core beliefs has not changed only his strategy.”

Obama did not go to a Weathermen meeting (ie. Palin PARTICIPATED in an anti-American act). He was working on education reform. If you are going to indict Obama for interacting with post-Weathermen Ayers then you have to indict the University of Illinois where he teaches, Chicago Mayor Daley who consults him on education issues, all his colleagues, all his students, the publishers of the 15 books he has edited or written and all the people who bought the book.

  73. MiamiVision Says:

jon a….because EH’s words came directly from last night’s Hannity’s America - almost word-for-word….she is nothing more than a parrot. They need to get Amy Holmes on The View for an adult (she is only 34-35) conservative view by someone who knows how to speak in public.

  74. Sandy Says:

    # 59,
ummm, I have to say your comment was pretty rude.

    I’m definitely not a Liberal.
I definitely enjoy this site, and most of the posters.
I’ve had some disagreements, and some darn good discussions. I’ve also learned a lot.

  75. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST: I felt like Whoopi was very out of line today! Why can’t EH have her opinion of people.

RESPONSE: She can have her opinion. I wouldn’t even mind if she spouted her opinions ad nauseum (I’d probably quit listening, and it would get boring) But what people object to isn’t EH’s opinion, it’s -that the doesn’t back them up,
-when she does it’s with mistatements, false statements and I suspect lies somtimes (I can’t believe she believes some of the stuff she says. She’s not stupid.)
-or sometimes she “back them up” not by answering the quesiton but by going offensive and making the other side defend their position (which has either already been done, or she has shouted down, or both.)

  76. rainlillie Says:

#74. Heather in LA, you’ve nailed it!

  77. Patrick Says:

Heather in LA- I never said Obama went to a Weatherman meeting as a matter of fact I never even mentioned Obama. I only stated the facts about Ayers.

  78. Heather in LA Says:

    #39 rodan, #41 marjie, #68 jon,

EH is entitled to her view, of course. But let’s stick to the facts and THEN say that makes me uncomfortable, I don’t agree with that, I respect that, etc.

That’s what the majority of people are complaining about here - is when she spouts rhetoric. It’s called The View, not The Rhetoric.

And many of us feel she could work on presentation. Only on the political stuff does she get shrill, hysterical and argumentative. It’s hard to hear her first of all, unpleasant to watch and impossible to take seriously. Evidenced by the other hosts practically yawning when she speaks now vs. a year ago when it drove Rosie (rightfully( bonkers.

  79. susieq Says:

there is one word for elisabeth…predictable…barbara walters has spent time with fidel castro, does that make her a communist?

  80. rainlillie Says:

The McCain campaign is going down. The fear card is all they have left.

  81. Heather in LA Says:

    Patrick -

then what was your point about calling Ayers a terrorist?

Isn’t that the smear against Obama, that he is associated with a terrorist?

yes, you didn’t say he went to a weatherman meeting - sorry if that felt implied. I was using your comment as a jumping off point to say that Obama worked on education reform and Ayers is part of that world and they are connected in that context whereas Palin attended and spoke at an AIP meeting.

  82. susieq Says:

McCain is getting desperate…i think he thinks he’s somehow entitled to be president, like its the next logical step for his career, but lets be frank, he’s 72 years old, other than remaining a senator what does his future hold?

  83. Patrick Says:

Heather in LA- I only made that comment because it sounded like some were making lite of what Ayers is.

  84. Lajet Says:

PRIOR PSOT: Heather in LA- I only made that comment because it sounded like some were making lite of what Ayers is.

RESPOSNE: And just what “is” Ayers. As best I have heard, he’s a law-abiding citizen involved in the community, and doing good things for the community. I understand he is a respected member of the community.

I understand he WAS involved in very bad behavior. Many years ago. I haven’t heard of any very bad behavior in the past decade or so. Most people mature and grow up. Some don’t. I don’t see any evidence that he continued his criminal behavior.

  85. rodan Says:

Heather 80 - and Whoopi, and Barbara and all the others with their PC BS are being honest and straight forward? !! yeah Right - they are NOT. They didn’t give McCain or Palin a chance and joke about them constantly. They ground out any view that isn’t their own. EH doesn’t even get a say on there anymore. Why? Why are people afraid to here the truth about Obomba? EH is the only fresh voice on the View at this time - the rest have fallen under obomba’s spell and refuse to look at him honestly - instead they are worshiping him. Now that is scary.

  86. Patrick Says:

Lajet- Ayers is a terrorist you may think that is ok but I don’t. I might think different if he had at some point apologized and showed remorse for his actions but he has not.

  87. marthe Says:

Fact: McCain was offered early release from Vietnam but turned it down.

Spin: McCain loves the company of communists.

Fact: EH bonded with Bill Clinton over football and gluten

    Spin: Bitsy hangs with adulterers!

Fact: Cindy McCain had a prescription drug problem

Spin: McCain associates with drug addicts!

  88. Heather in LA Says:

    88 Patrick,

but again, whatever Ayers is, what is being questioned is this supposed link that Obama has to him.

  89. mibi Says:

i have best debate with my conservative christain best friend because she is blunt, honest and we can agree to disagree but EH just says things that you can see on her face while she belives but that she is just says because she wants to suport her party.

I do see the reb side of things which i think is the point of debate to see the other of things. but the problem with poeple like hanity, oriely , beck is that athey take a point howevr vali dor invalid and they harp and they hammer and conjole ( never looking at the other side or taking in the full contect of the thing) to the point you lose perpective . case in point i duing the primaiers in some misguided effort ot be balance i watchdc oriley and was convenced that if hilary won nom i would not be voting for her in election. i stoped watching and went back to stance if she won i would suport. i have dont blame eh for heer view if i watch hannity like she does i would not like barack either.

  91. Patrick Says:

Heather in LA: Do you disagree about what I said about Ayers, is that the problem? Because I’ve already explained why I made the comment.

  92. Patrick Says:

I have a question? If I attend a KKK event, who might not promote violence anymore but their political agenda is the same, and the event was to raise money for sick children, is that wrong?

  93. Aileen Says:

    Wow,

What a show today.. I thought EH head was going to spinaround and green spew from her. ok, that being said, EH is way off the mark and I gasped when she started to talk about Obama and Ayers when this could be viewed as slander. Marthe above stated it well, EH could be viewed as palling around with adulterers, Clinton and Mcain! Its amazing what you will say when you are down in the polls and what others will say if you stand up for the truth. I guess we are just.. um.. what did that bone head say? Desperate housewives who had children late in life and bored? Not sure what that means, but I am no housewife! My dirty home can attest to that as well as my grown up children who suffer from mal nutrition! :-)

    I’m just saying….

  94. rainlillie Says:

I’m more afraid of Palin and McCain than I am of Ayers. Palin and McCain if elected, can make and shape policy that will have a impact on my life and the lives of my friends and family. Take for instance McCain’s plan to cut medicare benefits:

“John McCain would pay for his health plan with major reductions to Medicare and Medicaid, a top aide said, in a move that independent analysts estimate could result in cuts of $1.3 trillion over 10 years to the government programs.”
    http://washingtonindependent.com/10498/mccain-will-cut-medicare-and-medicaid-to-fund-health-plan

  95. Danielle Says:

#96- Thank you rainlillie, I am deathly afraid of McCain’s health care plan. My God, why don’t he just say, If you’re working class/ middle class (if that still exists)I guess you’re going to die.

And Marjie what I mean is, the news media along with alot of people in this country ignores the truth, I’ll repeat- they ignore the truth whatever it is. If it’s not sensationalism it gets the back seat in reporting. Just like McCain’s health care plan. By the way, I hope you’re rich, because if you’re not your health care (if you have health care) is going to be taxed under a McCain administration, so get ready for it.

I’ve already made some changes, I’m working out more, and trying like crazy to focus on what I’m eating, Lord knows what’s in America’s food nowadays. I may be just a working class regular American citizen, but the Republicans will not walk all over me because I’m not rich. I will go down fighting.

And don’t tell me I’m wrong about McCain’s healthcare plan. My sister-in-law works for a pharmaceutical company and she told us exactly what his plan is all about, and the main thing she was concerned about was the fact that he plans to tax health care plans, and was wondering why no one has talked about this in depth.

  96. Sasha Says:

#28 YOU SAID: “hateful hateful liberals. Talk about spewing venom. The epitomy of desperate housewives on this blog. A bunch of women in there late 30’s early 40’s who waited till they were 38 to have kids unhappy with there lives and themselves. So they hate on a a younger prettier version of themselves so sad.”

-You are the epitome (which you spelled wrong genius) of an ignorant republican who only follows along with what other ignorant conservatives say and do because you are too stupid to think for yourself. This post doesn’t even make sense. Gee, I’m 24 and had a child at 23 while achieving a college degree and working in education. And I’m sure the majority of posters do not fit your ridiculous little profile. What does it matter what age someone has a child? Just goes to show your ignorance. And believe me, there isn’t a single thing to be jealous of when it comes to EH. She is a swollen, overLY made up robot who doesn’t have a single self created thought in her empty head. We don’t hate her for being better then us. We hate her cause she is almost half brain dead and makes dangerous remarks that other morons like you are starting to believe. Please educate yourself.

  97. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #73 Marjie–

I’d like to know why you would ask me my
opinion of George W Bush. Would this be a
way of discerning my political position?
And if so, you have just proven my point.

Actually no….in post #41 you said Why do so many of the bloggers applaud what the liberals
say but do not seem to want hear anything that the conservative host has to say?

I was actually looking for the “conservative” point of view,(I was assuming that u were conservative) Im not sure why u went negative when you were asked for a critique of the leader of the republican (conservative) party.

  98. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #88 Patrick–

Ayers is a terrorist you may think that is ok but I don’t. I might think different if he had at some point apologized and showed remorse for his actions but he has not.

I totally agree Patrick……. Im not gonna vote for Ayers no matter what office he runs for!!

    bold = not yelling :)

  99. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #97 Danielle–

My God, why don’t he just say, If you’re working class/ middle class (if that still exists)I guess you’re going to die.
Actually he did say that Danielle. During an interview he was asked….what would it take to move from middle class to rich? McCain said, $5 million. So if u make less than $5 million you are middle class. I guess thats true when you wife is worth $100 million+

…the main thing she was concerned about was the fact that he plans to tax health care plans
You are totally right…… I dont remember how many millions of people will lose their healthcare because the business they work for will not be able to afford the new taxes so they will drop that benefit.

  100. bree Says:

    Sasha
Oh I can guarantee you my thoughts are my own and I don’t change them with each passing year as liberals do. I don’t live my life based on what other people are doing at the time, I have always been someone who thought for myself and chose not to take part in things that were wrong or hurtful to others. Your lives are so filled with gray areas you don’t know right from wrong until your told usually by someone on t.v. what to believe. I guarantee I can tell your opinion on almost every issue just by reading you blog. You all seem to love to pick at little insignificant things that make no difference because it makes you feel better about yourselves. Because your perfect right I’m sorry I have 3 kids and I don’t have the time nor do I really care if everything I write is spelled correctly why would I so one of you don’t call me a name, sorry but I’m beyond that. I never resorted to calling you names I simply made an observation about every person I’ve met that thinks like you and so far I’ve been right every time. Oh and I bet you you worked full time while your kids were shuffled of to daycare just a guess.

  101. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST: Lajet- Ayers is a terrorist you may think that is ok but I don’t. I might think different if he had at some point apologized and showed remorse for his actions but he has not.

RESPONSE: I’m going to sound like Clinton, but define “is.”

He is now a professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, holding the honor of Distinguished Professor. His interests include teaching for social justice, urban educational reform, narrative and interpretive research, children in trouble with the law, and related issues.[35] I’m pretty sure the University of Chicago, one of our premiere universities, would be interested to know he IS a terrorist.

I think a pretty good indication that he has reformed is that he turned himself in to authorities! One of his victims received an apology from Ayers, and it was well-received and said to be sincere.

He says the quotes attributed to him in early 2000 were deliberate distortions. I have no way of knowing, but find it very plausible, particularly in light of the rest of his life (including the apology and turnign himself in)

Just what is it that makes him a terrorist today? Or are you one of those people who think that once you commit a sin you are always a sinner?

  102. Aileen Says:

You Go Sasha!!! Its always amazing to me how we get attacked for having an opinion and agreeing with EH spew. She does not provide informed facts but shmears the rumors which are unfounded. THere is alot we can speculate on Palin due to rumors but we dont. But somehow our ability to have children at whatever age is now suspect to how our brains function. More ignorant spew from the vile. Well if you saw my house these days.. you couldnt call me a housewife. More like a work obsessed frequent traveler who is ready to hire a cook and a housekeeper. Does that make me desperate? :-)

    I’m just saying….

  103. Aileen Says:

oops.. I meant NOT agreeing with EH spew. I have almost cut off my finger tip cooking and I have this huge bandage on my finger that I can hardly type!

    I’m just saying..,.

  104. Aileen Says:

Bree which is it, having kids when we are older when we decided to settle down and are financially secure or having kids and having the kids when we are younger and shuffling them back and forth to daycare? Are you against that too? Are you against anything that an opposing party does? Is there something the right wing party does better and only cause ur supported by the GOP cult? How can you conceivably group all of us as one person? Are you that small minded are just angry that the polls are not swaying your way? You certainly are name calling.. what is the desperate housewife comment and when we have kids and who watches them? Its amazing to me that you judge how we raised our children without even knowing us. You are truly a contridiction to yourself. Please reread your posts slowly and take a deep breath.

    I’m just saying….

  105. bree Says:

no one said anything about your brain function or lack there of I am merely making an observation of what seems to be the type of people who write on this blog. My opinion is based on people I meet in every day life. People that are very confrontational way to opinionated and ready to jump down your throat if anyone disagrees with them. Oh and did I forget to mention thinks way to much of themselves and there opinions. No on cares about your opinion it is the delivery that is all wrong.
Oh and another observation is that you pay other people to raise your kids because it’s very important to be able to have things. let me know if I’m wrong on this one I guarantee I’m not.

  106. Roger from Ohio Says:

    102 Bree

Im really glad u stopped by.

Im very much like you…. I make up my own mind…. I believe that we all should look out for others. I think that we disagree how that should be done but thats fine.

I am a liberal and proud of it. I think that people should come before business. You sound like a conservative, even thought u didnt admit to it in your post.

I really do hope that you answer this question with honesty. Has George W Bush been good for America? In what ways?

Thanks….. lookin forward to a spirited response.

  107. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST: I have a question? If I attend a KKK event, who might not promote violence anymore but their political agenda is the same, and the event was to raise money for sick children, is that wrong?

RESPONSE: I’m not getting the connection? What meeting did someone (Obama?) attend that has a nefarious past? The board that did charity works? The fund raiser for a respected elected official? The vaguest connection I can find is that someone with a nefarious past attended one of these events, and although Obama didn’t invite him, and wasn’t in charge of invitations, he hsould have somehow vetter him and kept the previously nefarious person from performning good works today.

I don’t think George Bush personally has been responsible for our economic situation if that were the case then why is everyone blaming it on mortgage companies. I think people blame who they want to and it all depends on who you side with because you will here different things from different people who’s to say who’s right there’s usually a little bit of right and a little bit of wrong in every side. There are only a few things I know for sure that is moral issues. I believe both sides republican and Democrat lie and tell people what they want to hear and to believe that one party is completely innocent of that is naive. To answer your question yes I do believe he has been good for this country because he has upheld alot of laws that I think are important such as stem cell research. Everytime there is a war everyone wants someone to blame and fails to look at the big picture considering most government issues are kept top secret for safety reasons and other reasons to assume we know everything about the war is ridiculus. So then how can we say the war wasn’t neccesary. Because this country has gotten so used to instant gratification we forget that sometimes everything can’t always be easy sometimes it takes sacrifice to accomplish something. The other thing that bothers me about it is that back when the holocaust was going on we wondered why weren’t the Americans stopping it or helping in some way but know that murder and violence is going on and we are doing something about it everyone says we shouldn’t get involved. I don’t believe that just because we don’t have to help we shouldn’t like it or not we are better off then almost any other country, but all anyone wants to talk about is how they can’t afford the luxuries that other countries would never even have the opportunity to acquire.

supposedly an FBI agent tried to flag the mortgage issue in 2004, but he was basically ignored.

Ahhh, you mean the “gray areas”, right?

bree Says:Because this country has gotten so used to instant gratification we forget that sometimes everything can’t always be easy sometimes it takes sacrifice to accomplish something.
Gee, I don’t know where they got the idea that we would not be at war that long. Perhaps it’s because our leaders told us we’d be in there from 1 month to at the most 6 .

bree Says:Oh and another observation is that you pay other people to raise your kids because it’s very important to be able to have things. let me know if I’m wrong on this one I guarantee I’m not.
You’re not very observant because I guarantee you’d be wrong. Not every person that posts here had their child in daycare. I, for one, have NEVER.
But keep up your generalizations. They are an interesting read.

  111. bree Says:

Oh by the way I think anyone doubting that Barak Obama could have terrorist ties should watch the video on Hannity and colmes called barak and friends. This same professor that is suppsedly no longer involved with the terrorist organization he once led was the same professor that invited ahma dhinajinabav to speak there. He has recently said he believed in ethnic cleansing and Isreal should be wiped off the face of the earth. Not to mention donating money to a organization run by run by him and his wife. It sure seems like he supports him to me. He also has ties to an organization called ACORN look it up that is now being investigated for unlawful business practices such as using force and intimidation to get housing loans for people who wouldn’t normally be able to get loans due to bad credit and no money. Google it. Barack worked for this company trained there staff and later represented them in a court case and then had there staff and owner work for his campaign to become Senator. If thats not enough the church he attended was not just based on religion but more of an occult. There description is racial oppression backed up with religion and that is written in a book by the pastor himself. It was not just a sermon or two based on that subject that was the whole premise of the religion itself.

    Bree
I have to agree that both sides lie. adn i have to say i too have thought there must be more to this war but mostly because i did /do not want to think that this administration is as bad as it is for the sake of being bad and there is more but i doubt it. (guess i think people are at heart good). you said moral issues get your vote or suport but i can think of moral people who are not so good. (picture the clergy who molested children )
have you ever asked if america want to pervent geniocide/holocaust why are we not in darfur?

and please dont think you know me cause i post on a blog. i mean are you a person who lives in the same city you grew up, married you high school sweet heart after going to state college and taking over the family bussiness? or maybe you never went to college and your just a simple catholic kid working hard and raiseing your kids. am i right? prpoably not cause i don’t you from a blog post or because your poli. views. or religon oR color or any one thing about you
no not 40 no kids and not materialistic.(sp)

  113. bree Says:

workaholic though I bet and no your wrong on all counts except one. Your response about Catholic clergy. I wouldn’t consider Catholic as any more moral then anyone else there religion is more about religion then God. They say one thing and do another. No I am certainly not Catholic.

  114. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Bree

Since u brought up the Economic issues…

I don’t think George Bush personally has been responsible for our economic situation if that were the case then why is everyone blaming it on mortgage companies.

Bush is the leader of the party that was in power. It was his policies that were enacted by the Republican congress that allowed this economic downturn to progress.

But what stood out was this comment of yours. There are only a few things I know for sure that is moral issues.

This has been probably the most immoral administration that we know of. This is the president that allowed Torture, kidnapping, he discarded habeas corpus, he allowed illegal wire taps. (even your phone calls were taped bree if u have a cell phone), I could go on bree but Im sure u understand, since u said u were a moral expert.

Im gonna go out on a limb and suggest that u are probably one of those anti-choice people.

How can someone claim to be “pro-life” and pro war?

  115. mibi Says:

bree i was not expecting to be rigth i was grasping at random straws. am a type b personality in lot of ways actually.

i mention the clergy because they are seen gerenrally as religous moral poeple and yet like people fail. but my point was being moral does not make you ready to be president it a good start but not the whole picture.
besides who morality? i don’t mean go gray on you but for each person it diff and as government they have to deal with the black yes(es)and white no(s) ( or vice versa)

  116. rainlillie Says:

When someone starts off the conversation by calling people names, they lose all credibily. Those kind of people are seeking attention, and really don’t have anything productive to add to the conversation.

  117. Roger from Ohio Says:

Oh Bree….. u dont have to be catholic to have a church leader that is a pedophile. You just have to be a member of a church to have that possibility.

you say I wouldn’t consider Catholic as any more moral then anyone else there religion is more about religion then God

There isnt a religion today that is about god instead of religion…. catholics just are more vocal about what they think. These “television churches” are all about money. “send me money and you will be saved” “buy my book and Ill tell u how u are suppose to live.” “blah blah blah god blah blah blah money

is that what u mean by moral?

  118. Joyce W. Davis Says:

i just jumped on and am reading the info on Ayers. Ayers was a Weatherman 40 years ago during the anti-Vietnam war demonstrations WHEN OBAMA WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD!!!!! He has since become a good citizen that is admired by many. Obama had nothing to do with any of that!! This is why EH’s lies are so dangerous. Uninformed people that don’t bother looking up the facts believe her lies and go on to spread them as if they are the truth.

  119. mibi Says:

Rain you are so so right but i was bothere bythis person thinking they know all lib all people ona blog and then the moral/religous thing which is a bit of pet peeve of mine guess but i promise i will do better. asap

  120. bree Says:

thats were the liberals always go wrong they can’t make a point without exagerating what other people say. Can you please tell me when I said I was a moral expert, know your just sounding very childish. Anyway to answer your question I am pro life, babies are not a choice to lower such an amazing thing to merely a choice shows no respect for life. I have 3 children and they were my real to me and they were my babies from the first moment I knew I was pregnant. From the moment they were concieved they were going to be the little person they are right know, with there own special personality. I have seen a fetus turn into a 6 yr old boy I don’t need a scientist to tell me his life meant nothing because he hadn’t yet turned into the little boy is now yet. So don’t call it choice, choice is to give a child you can’t take care of up for adoption or use protection or birth control or the morning after pill that is choice not to kill a child that will one day tell you mommy I love you. Like I said not everything can be a quick fix and there are other choices.

A soldier who VOLUNTEERS to fight is different then a baby dying without a choice, but that doesn’t make it any less sad but that is life there will always be Wars there always has been and sometime there necessary because you can’t change other peoples minds by talking unfortunatly.

Although the President is in charge of alot of things he cannot control everything and what you guys seem to forget is that no one is perfect we all make mistakes and you can’t always for see every problem that comes along.

  121. bree Says:

    Roger from Ohio
This misinformation is a huge pet peeve of mine. Do not think you know what every religion is like when you ever never experienced every religion. I am non- Denominational and it has absolutly nothing to do with religion it is all about God. God tells us to be good people to be kind and understanding to be better then what we are today. Treat people they Jesus treated people. Can you PLEASE tell me what is wrong with anything in that message. The fact that you think that most Christians relate or believe in any of the crap that comes from televengelists and Catholics shows me that you have never been exposed to a real God based church. The church I go to preaches on things like being jealous of other peoples belongings gossiping about people helping people when they need help, treating your husband or wife kindly and respectfully. I don’t see how any of that hurts anyone. I think we should all strive to be better people unfortunatly our tendency is to be judgmental and angry and I think those are all things including myself that I need to work on. And I know it will help my marriage as well as other relationships I have with other
    people.

  122. msroncon Says:

bree, go back to school or better yet, go back to sleep.

I’m sure you think that being drafted is okay. I mean they didn’t volunteer.

Do you think masturbation is killing children too???

  123. Heather in LA Says:

Patrick #94 “I have a question? If I attend a KKK event, who might not promote violence anymore but their political agenda is the same, and the event was to raise money for sick children, is that wrong?”

I think the correlation you are looking for is if an ex KKK’r happened to serve on a board I was on for education reform, does that make me a KKK’r by association.

You consider him currently to be a terrorist. If that is true, then I’ll ask again, why is only Obama being vilified? Why not the University, Mayor Daley, all of his colleagues, etc.? Why 15 years later is this only coming up because of Obama? ie., lots and lots of credible people have associated with Ayers since he turned himself in, got his doctorate and became a productive member of society.

  124. bree Says:

he still believes the same thing he wrote it and he said he makes no apology for saying isreal should be wiped off the face of the earth it is in writing how can you deny that. Does the fact that he is the one who arranged for alma dihnajinabav to speak at Columbia University tell you anything about where he stands know. I really urge you to look into it further there is much more to learn.

  125. Heather in LA Says:

    Patrick,

Three days after the Qaeda attacks, Mr. Ayers wrote a reply posted on his Web site to clarify his quoted remarks, saying the meaning had been distorted.

“My memoir is from start to finish a condemnation of terrorism, of the indiscriminate murder of human beings, whether driven by fanaticism or official policy,” he wrote.

from the recent NY Times article on Ayers that Palin has been quoting…

So I guess that means you wouldn’t think he is a terrorist, right?

  126. Heather in LA Says:

    Bree -

the issue isn’t Ayers - I will look into what you are saying - the issue we were discussing is EH slandering Obama by saying he is connected to Ayers. He is not connected to Ayers the Weatherman. He chaired a board that Ayers presented to and they overlapped on one other board. Do you think they were huddled in the corner between comments planning terrorist attacks?

Again, indict Obama, indict EVERYONE currently (actually) connected to Ayers.

  127. Heather in LA Says:

From the Chicago Sun Times Aug 30th

“And what did the muckrakers find? Horrors, Obama had attended meetings and retreats with the author of The Good Preschool Teacher and To Teach: The Journey of a Teacher. He had actually rubbed shoulders — can you believe it? — with a distinguished professor of education who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in early childhood education and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction. He had probably even shared a cup of coffee, as only a co-conspirator would, with this professor, whose writings describe good schools as places that are “organized around and powered by a set of core values” and “effectively meet students where they are and find ways to nurture and challenge them to learn.”

In other words, Obama does, indeed, know Bill Ayers as more than just a guy from the neighborhood. So do a host of civic leaders in Chicago. For example, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge board included Susan Crown of the General Dynamics Corp. family; Patricia Graham, former dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Arnold Weber, past president of Northwestern University and of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago. Indeed, just about everyone active in Chicago school reform in the early days saw Ayers as a colleague. No one ever accused them of being radical because of their association with Bill Ayers.

Whatever one thinks of Ayers’ actions 40 years ago, there is nothing to condemn, and much to admire, about his leadership and commitment over the past 20 years in making schools better places to teach and learn. And there is nothing to condemn, and much to applaud, in Obama’s close association with those efforts.

Some of the reporters assigned to dig into the Annenberg archives felt a little silly about it all, I’m told. Their editors should too.”

  128. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Bree

I see u have helped to demonize Mahmoud Ahmadinejad by repeating his comment on “wiping Israel off the map” , but u left out what he was commenting on. If I understand it correctly, he believes in the state of Palestine.

Im not a moral expert like yourself, so Im not really sure how this works. It seems to me, that if you are against Palestine and for Israel, then you are doing exactly what Ahmadinejad is suggesting on the other side.(wiping Palestine off the map)

    How is that different?

  129. bree Says:

What I’m sorry I have no idea what you are talking about that makes absolutely no sense. And you never answered my question about being a moral expert. Why is it necessary to take things so out of context to make a point. You need to ask yourself why someone trying to do the right thing makes you so angry.

  130. Roger from Ohio Says:

    bree–

in post 110 you said There are only a few things I know for sure that is moral issues
sounds like a self imposed expert.

Ill ask u right out…. I thought I was clear before. the way I understand things, Israel is now where Palestine used to be. After WWII Israel was given to the Jewish people and the Palestinians were told to “deal with it”

Do you think that is how it should be or do u think that the Palestinians should be allowed to have their country as well?
