The View September 3rd

by Winnie McCarthy

I hate to be so lax so early into the new season, but work commitments will keep me from getting a recap of today’s episode of The View up today.

Feel free to comment here about today’s episode. If you missed the announcement on Tuesday, Sherri Shepherd will be missing today’s episode to take her son Jeffrey to his first day of school.

Scheduled guests are Maura Tierney from E.R. and Broadway’s “Three Changes” and singer Adele.

  1. Sandy Hackett Says:

Ladies…judging from your vocal, hysterical comments, we can only deduce that you are scared,scared,scared..and, unfortunately, that includes you, Barbara. Hang in there, Elizabeth..we’re on a roll.

  2. Tony Says:

Wow…who’d have thought it ? I actually agree with EH on this one. Sexism is alive and well in our society…even among Whoopie and Barbara. Yes, Governor Palin has little kids….SO DOES BARACK OBAMA !! Why hasn’t anyone asked HIM how he is going to DO IT ALL?? and as for the issue of vetting?? Why hasn’t Barack Obama been properly vetted after TWO years??? Maybe now that it’s September, BO will finally get vetted and the public will finally learn what a fraud he is.

  3. ShannonP Says:

    For Sherri:

  4. Barbara Says:

I feel that Elisbeth Hasselbeck never allows everyone else to speak she is right and no one else is. Whoopi , Barbara and Joy have their right to their opions with out being slamed everytime. I have a sister that is that way She is right and everyone is wrong. Don’t get me wrong Elisabeth has her right to her opion but she should interrupt just because she does not like what everyone else says.

  5. Larkin Bennett Says:

    RE: Governor Palin

Initially I was very impressed with Governor Palin but the more I found out about her the more she looks and acts like those women in the Texas polygamist compound.

While I support a woman in high offices and admire some of the things that it is said that she accomplished. I have serious doubts how she has run her own family.

You are right running a State and being Governor is a LOT OF WORK. Her Husband is out fishing and she is a power house politician, then who has been raising those five children? It looks like her older children have been free nannies and take on adult responsibilities at very early ages. How can she run the government, be a wife and a mother, nurse a new baby with down syndrome and give love and nurturing to her other children ? Someone is paying the price and I think it is the kids. Her daughter’s early sexual behavior in a household that is so rigid in their religious beliefs tells me that her daughter was seeking love and intimacy from outside the home.

If Palin was not running for such a high office I would not mind how she conducted her private life but in my mind her ambition trumps her concern for her family.

  6. Stacee Says:

LOL, Sen Obama has not been vetted. Too funny. :-D

  7. Lajet Says:

PRIOR RESPONSE: .SO DOES BARACK OBAMA !! Why hasn’t anyone asked HIM how he is going to DO IT ALL?? and as for the issue of vetting??

RESPONSE: If I had just given birth four months ago, and had a baby at home - particularly one with Down’s Syndrome - my husband wouldn’t be agreeing to run for national office.
I do think some of the questions have been sexist. But I think it’s legitimate to ask about the thoughtfulness of either parent running for Pres/VP with a four-month-old special needs baby. There are some things you can pay others to do just as well. Other things not so much.

Why hasn’t Barack Obama been properly vetted after TWO years???

    1. Huh???*
    2. If Obama were vetted as you suggest, just who do you think should do the vetting and tell the party who it can nominate?
    3. Answer: Perhaps the media IS doing the vetting for the presidential candidates.
    2. Are you worried about McCain being vetted?

    * I don’t think presidential candidates are vetted - well, they are - by the electorate, and the media. Vetting is done by someone who is going to offer someone else employment, and the offeree is vetted, not the offerer.

  8. susieq Says:

i have a theory as to why palin was chosen as vp candidate…if god forbid mcain were to win he prob won’t run for 2nd term…palin would decide her family needs her too much and then another rich white man can swoop in and be the nominee…if mccain loses then oh well the repubs will wait 4 yrs and nominate another rich white man

  9. Kristie Says:

Elisabeth you drive me nuts, good luck with your little girl when she gets to be 16, you can’t be with them 24 hours a day. I started having sex with my then boyfriend now husband when I was 16.We have been together for 21 years. I made the choice to go to the planned parenthood in our community. It was my choice!!! Let me tell you I was brought up right and I had a head on my shoulders. No!!!I did not get pregnat until I was 25 and that was our choice. One of these days you will learn that you can only lead and talk, people will make there own choices.
Another important point I need to make is
that the only dream I had in my life was to
get married and have kids and have a happy wonderful life…Dreams do come true..I hope yyour kids make you proud and your not talked about like you guys do about other people. My mom taught us not to talk about peole until you walk a mile in there shoes. You haven’t done that!!!

  10. Jennifer Reynolds Says:

I am so fed up with Whoopi (she has to have the last word) who says “not necessarily so’ all the time. In other words, what she has to say is right and there is no further discussion needed. Her and Sherri are a “poor example” for the view. They are too biased about blacks and I am fed up with it. Which is better a black cloud or a white cloud?

You have BET, if we had White Entertainmen Television we’d be racists. If we had white pride day, you would call us racists and if we had white history month, we’d be racists. We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce and a plain Chamber of Commerce. A white woman would not be in the Miss Black American pageant. If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarhships you know we’d be racists. In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you got it, you would call us racists.

Get on with life. I like red, black, brown or white people but you and Sherri are making me racist!!!!

  11. Petal Says:

I’m so tired of Elisabeth’s shrill pronouncements and her rude treatment of her co-stars.

I have a fantasy that Rosie will have a show that airs in the same time slot as the View, and that she hires Joy to be on it with her. And I’d never again have to see Whoopie resort to one of her stock silly-faces when she can’t quite make her point, or see Sherri squeal like a silly little girl when a Big Star is on, or, best of all, no more Elisabitch Aren’t-I-just-so-darling-who-else-could-matter Hasslebeck.

  12. rainlillie Says:

Lajet, I agree with your entire post..well said!

  13. rainlillie Says:

    Stacee,
They even went back to Obama’s kindergarten class, but he hasn’t been vetted. ROTFLMAO!!
    :-D

  14. ShannonP Says:

What really makes me sick about this election is the lack of dignity and honor in the media in covering it. It feels like an election by TMZ. That aspect has really been pumped up by the selection of Palin.

  15. S King Says:

I stopped watching The View today to write to the producer about E. Hasselbeck’s apparent inability to shut her mouth. Of course she has a right to her opinion, and to speak about it. But more than once she was asked to let someone finish their sentence (Whoopi asked her three times), and her response was to become more shrill, more anchored to her agenda, more insulting and less respectful. It’s not the first time…but it’s the last time I’ll have to watch it. She’s gone on and on about how exhausted she is coming to work when she has children to care for, but if being tired makes her behave the way she does on television, I pity her children having to deal in private with her short temper, the demon psychic that tells her what other people are thinking (and that’s usually inaccurate), and her complete lack of respect for other people’s integrity. I’m done.

  16. Valerie Says:

I’m confused . . . how come the Repubs weren’t screaming sexism on Sen. Clinton’s behalf? I remember EH being reluctant to admit that sexism (and racism for that matter) were even an issue in the democratic primaries. And, I vividly remember times when race or racism were alluded to on Barack’s behalf - the Repubs screamed that he (or the Dems) were pulling the “race card”. There seem to be so many double standards concerning this election. . . on both sides I’m sure.

On a diff. note, gotta love Joy. She says what others wouldn’t dare and then she makes you laugh.

  17. rainlillie Says:

    Shannon P,
I agree with you. Rick Davis, McCain’s campaign manager said: ” this election is not about issues, this election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates.”

This is beyond insulting to the the American voters. I hope the American people aren’t stupid enough to fall for it. We are facing some serious challenges, and those challenges have been overshadowed by this lame soap opera.

We can’t afford to put someone in office, based on the they’d be good to have a beer or a cup of coffee with. I don’t want my president to have average intelligence or to be a regular guy or gal. I want the smartest woman or man running the country. It’s just stunning to me that this is where we are.

  18. Sandy Says:

    # 7 Layet,
I also agree with you entire comment, and thought it was well stated.

I just would add one thing, if I said it.
While I believe it is legitimate to ask about the thoughtfulness of either parent running for Press/VP., with a 4 month old special needs baby. I would not hold that decision against them. Nor would it be a basis of my choice.
I could not, nor would I, do it myself.

  19. Danielle Says:

I agree with you rainlillie. They think everyone is a low information voter. Hell, does anyone on this board know that America is so far behind renewable energy that it’s scary. Small countries have better levee systems, and they don’t even have hurricanes. We have states bigger than these countries, but we can’t seem to get the picture, because our government is too broken, because it’s all about them. We need a revolution. I know one thing if things keep going this way Canada is right next door literally from where I live, and as that old saying goes, “I didn’t leave my party, my party left me.” This is my saying, “I didn’t leave my country, my country left me!” The conversation on the view made my point about this messed up system. Joy is the only one that seems to know anything, and can back up her claims. Whoppi gets too upset to get her point across sometimes, and Sherri is so uneducated it’s stunning. Elisabeth has drank so much of the republican koolaid that she can’t even think for herself anymore.

  20. Joyce W. Davis Says:

You know, what bothers me is…..1st. Gov. Palin was introduced by Sen. McCain and the whole Repub. party as a ‘mother of 5, one with special needs a real Repub. woman, etc. Now we, per Elizibeth can’t talk about her family. The Repubs drag it out continually but not one else can. Also, why did she hide her pregnancy from her constituents during the Gov’s race. 2nd. How come Clinton, per Repubs is a ‘whoremonger’, when McCain cheated for five years on his wife with several different women after his wife had faithfully waited for his return from Vietnam
and then applied for a marraige license before the divorce was final to marry the last women he was cheating with, Cindy? He dismisses that with ‘that was my greatest moral failing. And then everyone else forgets about it. 3rd. There have been many reports from several different sources, that McCain didn’t just say he was a bad pilot/pirate/whatever, but he gave detailed secrets about US targets, missions, etc. which cost many American lives. If this is the case, the heck with dissapointing his father, he should have come home when this was offered to him. 3rd. Palin DOESN’T have nearly as much experience as Obama. Just becase you say it’s so, doesn’t make it so. 4th. How does a U of I undergraduate degree in Jounalism compare to a degree from Columbia in Political Science and a Law degree from Harvard? 5th. The Repub. party has long PREACHED about family and the importance of having a mother in the home with small children. “If women have children, they should stay home and take care of them, not be paying a stranger to bring up their children” per Dr. Laura, their assigned watchguard on the morals of America. 6th. If this had been a child of the Clintons’s or Obama’s having a child out of wedlock, the Repubs would be all over them.
Actually, I could continue on, but I would like to tell the Repubs, Read Matthew 7:1. By whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged. That is only a small part of of the verse but you should see by now that ‘what goes around, comes around’ but every time it does come around to bite you in the butt, you justify it and say its all right now. That same verse says “Hypocrite!”
I’m tired of the Republicans saying that they are ‘the chosen’ and Democrats are all heathens. It was so evident in the convention last night that they feel that it’s ‘their way or the highway’. The only trouble is ‘their way keeps on changing route according to their mistakes.

  21. Linda21 Says:

After doing much research on Sarah Palin, I’m stunned to hear people speak in support of her! She is just the same-o, same-o as the rest of the corrupt republicans, accepting bribes, working with crooked lobbyists, the list goes on and on. Her ties with Jack Abramoff & Ted Stevens need to be investigated also. She is far from being a maverick. Do your homework people!

  22. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST:I have a fantasy that Rosie will have a show that airs in the same time slot as the View, and that she hires Joy to be on it with her.

RESPOSNE: I have this fantasy all the time. Recommendations:

Over 65: Phyllis Diller/Betty White (actresses) over 65

50-65: Billie Jean King(athlete/activitst) or Aretha Franklin (entertainer)
    (I really want both!)

    40-50: Susan Molinari (Republican politician)

    30-40 Kristi Yamaguchi(athlete) or
Margaret Cho (I think that’s her first name; a comedian)

    20-30 - Britney Spears or
Rosie picks one of her Rosie’s kids

    RESPONSE:

Sounds like it wasn’t too far of a leap to me!!

  24. rainlillie Says:

“Sounds like it wasn’t too far of a leap to me!”

LMAO! No that wasn’t a leap…That was a very, very small step.

“Which is better a black cloud or a white cloud?”

    I prefer the sun myself.

  25. Dee Says:

Let me add Jane Pauley to the show (50-65). I was so sad when her show only lasted a year.

I wonder if Rosie vacationing from her blog might be due to negotiations for something on a network. The last time she was close to getting something, her blogging helped tube it. I imagine if the far right gets wind she will not be hired, just like Janeane Garofalo several years ago.

  26. rainlillie Says:

    Lind21,
THANK YOU! this needs be said over and over. Here’s some info on Palin’s record. http://pr.thinkprogress.org/

  27. Kelly Says:

Okay - I have to post. I swore off The View - but now I MUST find today’s video and get in the mix…I’ll be baaaack!!!

  28. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST: Let me add Jane Pauley to the show (50-65). I was so sad when her show only lasted a year.

ABSOLUTELY. I think she would be an alternative to Susan Molinari, but frankly, I’m make Susan the alternative if Jane said no! I also like Kathie Lee Gifford, but she has a gig now.

  29. Valerie Says:

    misslingdow -

    too funny!

  30. Kelly Says:

How do I get the video???? HELP!!!!!

  31. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST: ABSOLUTELY. I think she would be an alternative to Susan Molinari, but frankly, I’m make Susan the alternative if Jane said no! I also like Kathie Lee Gifford, but she has a gig now.

RESPOSNE: Ooops. You’re right. Jane is older. Now I’m torn. I really like Billie Jean King more I think.

  32. rainlillie Says:

    Kelly,

Go here and look in the right hand corner.
    http://abcnews.go.com/

  33. Linda21 Says:

rainlillie, thanks for the link…great web site!

Some of the previous council members while Palin was mayor are starting to speak out. Seems she fires anyone who disagrees with her so most people are afraid of her vindictiveness.

For example, she told the city librarian to destroy certain books, & when she refused, Palin fired her.

  34. margie wilson Says:

Joy made the comment married at seventeen, life is over. I think her words prove her to be narrow-minded and uninformed. I was married and had my boy before I was eighteen, we were married for twenty eight years and remain friends now as we share two children and three grandchildren. Don’t judge people to your standards.

  35. Sandy Woodward Says:

Alaskans are going to pay money to share their view of their Mrs. Palin to the world.

    From http://mudflats.wordpress.com/

“Then there’s progressive talk show icon Ed Schulz. He’s hosting a town hall meeting at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. A thousand Alaskans will cough up between $25 and $100 to stand before the microphone and tell the world exactly what they think of Sarah Palin. The show will be played back on September 15th. Should be interesting. And yes, I’ve got my tickets.”

  36. May Says:

After watching morons EH and Sherri carry on like nincompoops about how great Gov Palin is and will be for our country…I could actually chew nails and I mean ten penny nails. They don’t know squat about the woman..last month Sherri had a fit over O’Bama while he was on the show..thought she was gonna jump his bones before he could get away from her and now she is all over EH and couldn’t agree with her more. When Palin supposedly asked the librarian to burn books, and fired her when she refused, what dictator is she trying to emulate and who is naive enough to vote for someone like that?

  37. Sandy Woodward Says:

    May,

I think you just named two morons who would ;).

  38. berndoubt Says:

Here’s what they really think about Sarah Palin in the Republican party:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrG8w4bb3kg

  39. susieq Says:

did anyone catch eh commenting that alaska is the biggest state in the union? like that makes palin qualified to be vp…its the biggest state in area not population unless you count moose…and i’m sure if the repubs could register them they would

  40. Kelly Says:

Palin reminds me of this girl I grew up with - Kerry (an evil princess). Kerry’s ambition was greater than her good, and she fought anyone and everyone to be ahead in the great game of life. She lied, she cheated; she rigged her own election and was booed off the football field. But she had no shame and easily laughed it off. Kerry, like so many others, hid behind her church, her politics and her family (so dysfunctional she allowed her unknowing husband to raise another man’s child). What was horrifying to me, people were fooled, all the time. Truth had NO bearing…or so it seemed. The truth will always surface…in it’s own time. The Republican Party is over.

  41. May Says:

    Sandy Woodward, Touche’! :D

  42. ShannonP Says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAioIZBY6nE

I don’t know if anyone posted that already, but here is 10 minutes of the hot topics.

  43. ShannonP Says:

watching that clip now, I just want to smack Elisabeth upside the head and knock that nasty and bitter smug look off her face. She sits there so mean-spirited, tantrum-like with arms crossed. That is not a person that wants a discussion, to learn and grow and share ideas, it’s a pissy bitter person that wants her way with the conversation.

  44. ShannonP Says:

  45. ShannonP Says:

And finally, I don’t know who Adele is…but if you are interested, here is the link of her on the show…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0LJY7uzE5U

  46. leeBM Says:

After today’s hot topics I was pretty irritated at what was said about Palin’s 17 year old daughter and she should be a mother first not VP. First of all she is a mother who has a teenage daughter that has gotten into some trouble whether wanted or not. Barbara W”s daughter had troubles herself as a teen and is now a wonderful role model for troubled teens. I have more of a problem with people bashing mothers when they should probably bash the Bill Clintons, John Edwards or even B.W for having affairs as adults while married and know it is wrong! Why is this so accepted? Everyone’s child makes mistakes, granted some worse than others.

  47. Kelly Says:

    susieq: soooo funny

The moose (largely Republican) where immediately sent Voter Registrations, Absentee Ballots and offered free champagne and limo service to over 1 million voting booth locations.

The reindeer (largely Democrat) where told they couldn’t vote if they ever received a parking ticket, were ever late with rent, were born anywhere but in the Yukon, lost their antlers or couldn’t hike to the peak of Devil’s Thumb in less than 3 hours where the single voting booth was located.

And still, the reindeer registered more votes…but hanging chads and hoof-and-mouth disease managed to belie the results.

  48. Kelly Says:

ShannonP/rain – thank you so much for the link (still waiting for the upload). Did you ever notice that if you scramble the letters around in the name Elisabeth Hasselbeck – you get Raging Hypocrite?

  49. Lorraine Says:

The 2 clips were well worth the time to view. I liked the discussions. The only thing that is abundantly clear is that Elisabeth will not tolerate any discussions about the Republicans whatsoever. She needs to be muzzled.

  50. Winnie McCarthy Says:

I have posted four clips from today’s hot topics, as well as the video of Adele:
    http://www.watchingtheview.com/videos-of-the-view-september-3rd-hot-topics-and-adele/

  51. Kelly Says:

Just watched The View video from today:

Number of times EH rolls her eyes…………………….…..22
Number of times EH interrupts her co-hosts……………….44
Number of times EH spews frothy Republican lies………600
Repeatedly insulting your boss on boss’s show..PRICELESS.

Oh…and you may want to Google this headline: McCain Camp Battles National Enquirer Over Alleged Palin Affair

Say what you will about the National Enquirer, but they broke the John Edwards story, and then headed to Alaska in a show of biparisian fairness. Who was it that comdemmed cheating as a Democratic failing?

Now I know why the NEW (yawn) GOP theme is Country First – no one’s standing behind the Republicans but the village idiot…and Sherri.

  52. Joyce W. Davis Says:

Oh leeBM, I so agree! Let’s talk about John Sidney McCain who’s wife waited faithfully for him for 51/2 years while he was in Vietnam. How did he repay her? He cheated with several different women over a period of the next five years, then applied for a marraige license to marry, Cindy, the person that he was currently cheating with even before the divorce was final. Unlike the
republicans, the Democrats don’t talk about these moral failings, even when they are on the news. John McCain: morally bankrupt!

  53. Sandy Woodward Says:

    Thanks Kelly.

Say, does anyone know when the mini-series about Palin’s “accomplished” life is airing on Lifetime. I’ll bet Sarah will play herself.

  54. Vina Bolling Says:

Miss Jennifer Reynolds, Sherri isn’t making you a racist…you are already a racist. How
dare you…how dare you!!!! Blacks have been living in a white world ever since the beginning of time and we still are. So what if we have BET. We need something when there are so many prejudice shows that won’t have blacks…how dare you!!! I wanted to comment on Elisabeth, but when I read your comments, Elisabeth is an angel compared to you. God help you!

  55. Shawn H. Says:

I agree with several of you about Elizabeth. She’s the only one out of the bunch, that is never open minded or can view a situation from both sides. She disagrees with everything and always has an attitude when she doesn’t agree with a statement. She mentioned sexism and that women can work and raise a family. I agree women can work and raise a family when it comes to a 9-5 and your day at work ends. Not everyone has nannies EH…. As a mother (with 1 child) my work is never done. Raising 5 kids (1 with special needs & 1 pregnant), being a wife (most be attentive to your mate at some point), and trying to help run a country is a bit much. This means she is on duty as VP 24/7. I say someone or something will fall short. You can never be 100% in all areas (unless you on prozac). We already see her kids obviously suffered from her career choices (pregnant teen who’s now being rushed into marriage). She stated she went back to work only 3 days after giving birth, who ever heard of such?? The only question I have to ask and I hope that all will ponder; Would you want Sarah Palin as your president??? Remember McCain has 1 foot in the grave already…

  56. leeBM Says:

Oh Ms.Joyce W. Davis, Thanks for telling me John S. McCain is morally bankrupt. Funny coming from a democrat….
Pres. John H. Kennedy - HELLO - running around on Jackie - thank God she was a quiet and great women to keep belief in the American Presidency,

Teddy Kennedy - What can be said - He couldn’t even report an accident that took a women’s life. Now he is God with a brain tumor. However I have had him in my prayers so he can live as full of a life with his family as possible.

Bill Clinton - What a joke - a band nerd who is a sex addict. Hillary by my standards is a sad case. She should have said goodbye in Arkansas but her goals for glory in government all went with him.

Say what you want about Republicans, but I am Pro choice so rape and incest victims can be helped but Pro life for babies. Abortion should never be birth control. God Speed and I wish all well….

  57. red Says:

    @leebm

yes, bill clinton had and affair. So did John Edwards. We can make a long list of politicians who have had affairs, republican and democrat. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. The difference is that democrats aren’t preaching religion and all that it entails and trying to make that into policy, forcing the rest of us to live by those standards.

  58. Sarah Says:

leeBM: You can list all the Democrats who have ever cheated on their wives and it still will not erase the facts about McCain.

And you’re jumping to conclusions when you assume that just because someone is a Democrat that they think the affairs the Dem. candidates have had are acceptable.

  59. Mz Elle Says:

Hey, Elisabeth honey, glass houses should NEVER throw stones, remember when you were the other women, stole a wife/mother from her husband.

Well, well, well-watching the 08-21-08 Rerun when Mrs. Michelle Obama was on, it behooves me that, Elisabeth-one your entire body language was with an attitude, you enviously stares & kept out of Mrs. Obama’s range & you, Mrs. Husseyback questioned her & had the goal to say the Lady which Michelle is & you’ll never will be, had affairs. Trust me an AFFAIR is what you had & out of it came those another-woman’s/daddy baby.

I hope when the time come you’re able to honestly & truthfully explain to your kids how you broke-up a home & changed the lives of the other family.

But, when that Cindy Mack-the-Wifestealer Cain came on sweet Elisabeth was all up her behind.

Why didn’t you, Cindy-double ask Cindy why did she sneak (yeah, sneaked), sleep & broke-up the home of the original real 1st Lady Mrs. McCain when the poor lady was on her death-bed as she & John Mack-the-Jerk Cain was sleeping around? What kind of conscience & principles & morals were they showing?

The View’s next Hot Topics should be: Backstabbing - home wrecking - sneaky-sluts! Must be true Cindy & Lizzy that bleached-blondes have more wife grabbing fun?

  60. Jenny Says:

i dont understand why the biggest headline in the media lately is about Palin’s 17 year old daughter that is pregant, when we are trying to find the president to run the united states of america , its pathetic.

plus i think EH is a extremly strong lady, yeah i dont agree with everything she says but then whoopi annoys me aswell when she just sits there and does her stupid looks when she isnt interested.

the view would be extremly boring if EH wasnt on it, because there would be 4 women sitting at a table agreeing with each other all the time, no arguments and probaly no intresting conversation
shes a strong ladie, i have to give her that.

  61. Lajet Says:

PRIOR POST: Blacks have been living in a white world ever since the beginning of time and we still are. So what if we have BET

    RESPOSNE: I totally agree.
This is a market issue. If there’s a demand, and there’s nothing illegal, immoral or unethical about it, what do I care. (Besides, I sometimes find interesting stuff on BET that I wouldn’t find on the rest of TV.)
I remember going through a stage where I did lots of Scottish stuff becuase I have Scottish heritage. I thought the tartans & crests were cool. No one thought I was being un-American. I was just getting to know my roots.

  62. Kelly Says:

The only things missing from last night’s GOP convention were Jerry Springer and flying chairs.

  63. Petal Says:

Vina Bolling — I want you to know I agree with you completely and I’m so white, I glow phosphorescent in the winter.

  64. Tony Says:

wasn’t able to post again until today, cuz I have a job with “actual responsibilities”. For those of you who think BO has been vetted, fasten your seatbelts for what’s going to be coming out about him in the next couple months….it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

  65. S King Says:

Yes, EH is appears to be a strong woman. However, it is possible to present strong ideas without being dismissive and rude. Perhaps she has strong ideas. I think a truly strong person does not have to resort to insulting people to present their opinion. Weak people have to resort to the antics we see from EH. She definitely represents and models the behaviour of many far right conservative followers (and many lefties, too).

Al Gore lost loads of cred by rolling his eyes, condescending and being a snot during his campaign.

My old mentor used to say, “Forget what people say. Watch their behaviour.” It’s served me well.

Petal, I, too, have mayonnaise legs at all times of the year.

  66. rainlillie Says:

Can someone tell me what kind of job doesn’t have responsibilities? I can’t think of one.

  67. maryn48 Says:

Well….I thought this was going to be an interesting outlet–my first venture into blogging. However, I’ve come to the conclusion that internet blogging is just another anonymous way to say half truths, distorted truths, lies (Elisabeth Hasselbeck was the other woman?? When? Who? I’ve never heard this before.), and list ‘facts’ without citing any proof or source of information. Democrats and Republicans blaming each other for all problems and both name calling each other for the same offenses–it’s like watching playground fights. Jeez-louise!! I will have to look around for another hobby.

  68. Vina Bolling Says:

Thank you Petal and Lajet. Not just because you agreed with me, but because you are some pretty smart and intelligent ladies.
