This week of the scheduled View re-runs

In case you are curious which re-runs are airing this week on The View, here is the list, along with links to the previous re-caps, where available:
MON., AUG. 18 (OAD: 4/21/08) – Guest co-host Cindy McCain, wife of Republican Senator and 2008 Presidential nominee John McCain (R-Az.); Craig Ferguson (“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”); Chelsea Handler (author, “Are You There Vodka? It’s Me”); Recap here.
TUES., AUG. 19 (OAD: 5/28/08) – Joan Rivers, Kirk Cameron (No recap available)
WED., AUG. 20 (OAD: 4/9/08) – Trisha Yearwood (author, “Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen”); Eddie Izzard (“The Riches”). Recap of episode here.
THURS., AUG. 21 (OAD: 6/18/08) - Michelle Obama guest co-hosts. Recap of episode here. This is actually the third showing of this episode, as a re-run of it aired on July 1st. Originally it was not in the listing for this week, but was added later, perhaps because they scheduled Cindy McCain’s episode to re-air this week.
FRI., AUG. 22 (OAD: 8/1/08) – Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello (“The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”); Antonio Sabato, Jr. (SOAPnet’s “General Hospital: Night Shift”). (Recap not available)
Are any of you watching the reruns this week? Even though I missed a couple of these episodes a few times around, I really have no desire to watch them this week. While I am somewhat looking forward to the show coming back with new episodes, I get very bored watching old episodes because all of the news is old.
On an unrelated note, you may have noticed that the format of the blog has changed. The space for the blog entries are now wider, which means that I can post larger images and the text is not as narrow.
The View, Cindy McCain, Michelle Obama, Brendan Fraser, Antonio Sabato Jr, Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Joan Rivers, Kirk Cameron, Trisha Yearwood, Eddie Izzard

I need the name of the shingles vaccine that Joy said she got from her doctor.
August 19th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Carolyn, I think there is only one shingles vaccine Zostavax.
August 19th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
No, I’m not watching the reruns. The main reason to watch this show is to see the live hot topics, so I have no desire to waste my time watching repeats.
I AM curious to see the season 12 promos for the show, I read they started airing yesterday and the promo is called ‘Ready, set, view. Anyone see it yet?
August 19th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
I’m not watching the reruns and since RedLasso went down, I don’t watch the show anymore. I haven’t found it online anywhere else, except random clips here and there.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Vegas: I saw that, and I posted this yesterday somewhere else here on watchingtheview, but I didn’t know it was called “ready, set, view”:
I saw a pretty long ad and/or presentation on TV the other night for Season 12 of The View. It was on I think ET or Showbiz on the same channel as Nancy Grace is on. All 5 of them were in this presentation type ad, and they said emphatically to “watch for more strong opinions,” “more interesting guests,” “more entertainment,” and “especially more and better Hot Topics” and all 5 of them were very_animated while promoting Season 12.
They seemingly promised to make this show even better than (they think) it is. (I guess they are choosing to beat a dead horse.)
August 20th, 2008 at 6:24 am
Miami, thanks for the info. I fast forwarded through my recording of yesterdays rerun before deleting it and I didn’t see any commercials for the new season.
They sure sound delusional about the promises they are making for the new season. I remember when their first week back live was chock full of A list guests. This seasons opener is boasting having a has been boy group on the season opener. Oh yeah.. that’s my idea of ‘more interesting guests’. @@
Oh, and has anyone checked out The Views website? Looks like they want to make ‘Sherri Can’t Cook’ a regular segment. There was a sidebar asking viewers to send in videos of themselves cooking and if you get chosen you will get to go on the show and cook with the dum dum.
I can’t believe they want to make a cooking segment with that fool. I can’t stand seeing her around food. That last segment with the adorable Tyler Florence was terrible. Keep that idiot away from the food segments. We do not find it funny watching a grown woman shoving food in her mouth like she hasn’t eaten for days.

Vegas: I agree with you, except to say that NKOTB (New Kids On the Block) were very much loved by my children’s age group (25+ year olds today?) and so I believe there are folks who do like them. I remember taking my children when they were 8 and 9 to see them live at what was called Pro Player Stadium (The Miami Dolphins NFL stadium but is called something else today) and the stadium was packed with nearly 70,000 kids of that age group. I also agree with you about keeping Ms. Sherri away from the food segments.
Carolyn: I don’t know the shingles vaccine name; however, if it was administered or if the info was given to Joy by her dermatologist, I happen to know him very well as he was my dermatologist prior to him getting involved with the rich and famous! So, if you’d like his name, I could supply that and you could call their office and ask them this question about the shingles vaccine and/or they could refer you elsewhere to glean that information. There is a rumor that Sherrie Shepard is getting fired ? is this true ????????
August 20th, 2008 at 8:28 am
I love Sherri. So she’s not into all the political talk but I think that is more than covered by the other hosts. She offers humor and more importantly, kindness. I don’t see that in the others. I am very much looking forward to the new season and Sherri’s new segment. I do find it funny watching a grown woman shoving food in her mouth like she hasn’t eaten for days. Remember Lucy and Ethyl with the candy? Funniest thing ever!

BW said nobody is leaving The View when the rumor came up.

Here’s something funny at above link - “Mr. Elisabeth Hasselbeck joins ESPN”

Yes there is a rumor Sherri will be leaving the show in September, it sounds like they will have her back for the first week or so, and then she will make some excuse like she is ‘moving on to other projects’. I emailed Winnie the article I found about it this morning. I will post it here as well. I hope it’s true, she is not eqipped to be among this panel.
And Sharon…I always thought I Love Lucy was an idiotic show, I don’t find that kind of humor funny. You think Sherri shows kindness?
She brags about how she beats her special needs child! She admits to having ‘more abortions than she can count’. She’s just really stupid.
Here is the link to the article about Sherris geting canned.

I’m sorry you feel that way. I don’t share your opinion.

PRIOR POST: I love Sherri. So she’s not into all the political talk but I think that is more than covered by the other hosts. She offers humor and more importantly, kindness. I don’t see that in the others.
RESPONSE: i agree that Sherri is the kindest, most honest, most humane person on the show. She’s the person I most want to watch if I were inclined to watch. I’m not sure the others cover the political stuff very well. I’d rather hear nothing than lies, manipulations and disingenous comments. EH is not consistent, except that she’s consistently biased about whatever is pro-Rub-cans and anti-Dem-cats. But her thinking, and logic and explanations can contradict themselves - with rare exception. I’d rather see ignorance. Actually, that is ignorance, on steroids and with a loud voice. It’s why I can’t stand watching anymore. It’s not the conservative views, it’s the biased, disingenous views that go unchallenged, or tepidly challenged by the other. I don’t like being insulted on a regular basis.
Fool me once, shame on you (for providing propaganda and dishonest comments and calling it a lively discussion.)
Fool me twice, shame on me.

PRIOR POST: BW said nobody is leaving The View when the rumor came up.
RESPONSE: Hmmmmm. That means that BW won’t be throwing SS under the bus, but will allow her to leave with dignity - IF that’s what going to happen. Or maybe BW is stating the truth. don’t know.
Sheri hasn’t worked out as well as I hoped, but she’s still my favorite. I can live with Joy but she’s become predictable so don’t need to hear what she’s going to say anymore. Woudn’t mind seeing Whoopi leave - a little too tired and judgmental and authoritarian for me. BW serves a purpose on occasion.
But if anyone gets fired BEFORE EH it will make not sense. I’d threaten not to watch anymore, but I already don’t watch. It will only confirm what I already believe - it’s quit being “The View” and has become “THe EH Platform” or perhaps “THE BG Puppet platform” with the others playing supporting roles for her nonsensical politics. It just irks me to see someone who so lacks in humanity and compassion to succeed BECAUSE of her lack of humanity and compassion. She’s not the first. won’t be the last.
oh well. Time for me to get back to my life.
August 20th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
# 9 Sharon,
I share your opinion of Sherri wholeheartedly.
August 20th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
I also hate I Love Lucy, she was conniving and avaricious, like a little chipmunk I’ve viewed. And she always got into deep doo-doo, which never seemed to have any consequences, like a little chipmunk I’ve viewed. Lol, replace her with Denise Richards.
August 20th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
well, i guess it was only a matter of time before Roseanne Barr took a swipe at Elisabeth:
“By the way, I think elizabeth hasselberg is a f’r s’re closet case that wants to get whipped by sherri shepherd in a black corset while old babs slaps a riding crop on both of their exposed butt-oxes. love, crackpot granny!”
August 20th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
I think I’m still in the naughty corner cuz I’ve posted under different names, but what the hey. Vegas no. 11 really chapped me and I gotta put my two pesos in: WTF, Vegas? you imply a woman can’t have had abortions and still be a person who shows kindness. WTF ???
August 21st, 2008 at 7:17 am
Good morning all!
Vegas, yes I do think Sherri is kind. Not knowing her personally I rely on her countenance and the way she interacts with the other hosts to form my opinion. I haven’t walked in her shoes and don’t know why she made certain decisions but I do know that I make mistakes daily, some big and some small. My hope is that those around me will forgive me and let me try again tomorrow.
August 22nd, 2008 at 10:41 am
Sherri is the perfect type of host for The View. I don’t think she’s going anywhere soon.
August 22nd, 2008 at 11:30 am
PRIOR POST: Sherri is the perfect type of host for The View. I don’t think she’s going anywhere soon.
RESPONSE: If logic - or perhaps competence - prevailed, someone would have taken Star aside and helped her see the error of her ways. She was/is bright and sassy, and as Rosie has noted, celebrity can do strange things to you. She’s showing she is learning. Instead they just can her.
If logic - or perhaps copetence-prevailed, EH would have been long gone. There’s the inconsistent and totally biased politics, the chirping, the inability to do a decent interview, the churlishness, blah blah blah. I don’t think she’s as trainable as I think Star is educable.
But then it all depends on the goals of TPTB. They may not be what we think they should be.
