Note to Winnie: When I just came in and went to the off-topics where there are approximately 189 posts…Norton Antivirus blocked a browser exploit. This is what it said: High Risk Browser Exploit at www dot watching the view dot com on 12/29/08 at 12:13 p.m. and the risk is “MSIE ADODB.Stream Object File Installation Weakness”

This is just an FYI for you, Winnie. Norton blocked it so I’m fine, I just wanted you to know.

    Happy New Year!!

Now who would rig this site (our thread in particular) with a virus?

marthe says: “Guardian UK reporting on Dan Rather’s lawsuit.”

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/dec/28/dan-rather-cbs-lawsuit-bush

Very exciting read from a non-US media outlet. Now I think I understand why CBS ran the Mike Connell story - to show their unbiased reporting of George Bush that Dan Rather claims they lack.

    From the article:
Among those CBS considered for the panel to investigate Rather’s report were far-right broadcasters Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter.

“CBS broke with long-standing tradition at CBS News and elsewhere of standing up to political pressure,” says Rather. “And, there’s no joy in saying it, they caved … in an effort to placate their regulators in Washington.”

CBS covered up Bush’s military record and draft dodging
CBS covered up the 2000 and 2004 election fraud in Florida and Ohio
CBS covered up torture in Abu Ghraib
CBS ran the Mike Connell story online only – to plant evidence that they are ‘balanced’.

CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN can join FOX in corporate media hell – for turning America into a 3rd world country under dictator Bush.

I hope the next war we fight – your children are on the front line.

  3. marthe Says:

Despite Laura and Condeleeza ridiculously saying Dumbya’s administration will not historically be viewed as a failure, why wasn’t it the smart Bush, Jeb, that ran? Oh, because Rove is Texan?

On a lighter note, a study in Japan noted that children who didn’t eat breakfast had sex at a younger age. Also, “People who said they disliked their mother had sex for the first time at the average age of 16, while the average age for those who appreciated their mother was 19, Kitamura said.”

Watch out Bitsy, you’re driving Timberly to early sexual exploration.

Response: Be careful for what you wish for….didn’t you say your brother was going to Iraq? What a comment to make!

Winnie…FYI….posters can get a virus when clicking on websites that people here add to their threads. Posters should never click on any of these websites that are given because some have a virus as soon as you click on the site. Many blog sites will not allow you to include a website to refer to because of this. Check out Gretawire, no websites are allowed to be posted at all because of this.

Response: Be careful for what you wish for….didn’t you say your brother was going to Iraq? What a comment to make!

Isnt that the point of her comment diamondlil?

How many Bush relatives are in harms way? How may of Cheneys, what about the Rumsfelds?

The people that have sent us to war, didnt send their relatives. They sent America children, brothers/sisters, fathers/mothers, but not their own.

Obviously, they believe their families are more important than others.

  7. diamondlil Says:

No .. Roger. I think you missed the point of her comment…why don’t you reread what she said.

  8. diamondlil Says:

In case you don’t know, Rog - there is no draft…everyone who enlisted, did so on their own free will.

  9. Kelly Says:

    marthe - so true.

    All the President’s Women;

-Laura Bush doesn’t “really feel like I need to respond to people” who view George’s presidency as a failure.

-Dr. Rice thinks “generations pretty soon are going to start to thank this president”

-”Why should we hear about body bags and deaths … It’s not relevant.” – Barbara Bush, March 18, 2003

Roger is exactly right - look how these people treat our soldiers. Disgraceful.

  10. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #8 diamondlil–

In case you don’t know, Rog - there is no draft…everyone who enlisted, did so on their own free will.

So that means that it is ok for them to die…. they deserve to die because they enlisted?
Since they enlisted then we shouldnt hold the people that lied to get them into a war accountable?
Their deaths matter less because they “volunteered”?
How many volunteered to kill civilians? That may not be the plan…. but that is the result.

When someone enlists in the military, the people that are in charge of them are required to lead them honestly. When our military is used as disposable resources those leaders should be the ones that pay the price. It doesnt matter if they enlisted under their own free will or if they were drafted.

  11. diamondlil Says:

Roger, have you ever served our country or do you just serve up meaningless thoughts on these sites? No one deserves to die whether they enlist or volunteer. When there is war, someone is going to die and thank god we have a military. There is no such thing as peace time and what’s brewing now in the Middle East won’t be Bush’s fault..Let’s see who we can blame for the deaths that’s going to happen there.

  12. marthe Says:

I was just reading an AP article about the taliban taking over Pakistan’s Swat Valley. A local commenter said the terrorists should be arrested and subjected to Gitmo torture, like being forced to watch uppity women rant on The View.

  13. Vickie Says:

#10 Roger wrote, in part: “…When someone enlists in the military, the people that are in charge of them are required to lead them honestly. When our military is used as disposable resources those leaders should be the ones that pay the price. It doesnt matter if they enlisted under their own free will or if they were drafted…”

It is an unfortunate part of wartime but the “boots on the ground” troups are needed mostly for their numbers. My dad is a highly decorated WWII vet and the theater in which he fought recruited from the “outcasts” so-to-speak of the Army. They knew that the mission they were going on was one in which they needed numbers to push through. Dad was told up front that he may not return that it would be a high casualty mission. He had been busted down several ranks due to not showing up at curfew so he agreed to go. He ended up as only a handful who completed the mission and he won metals for valor and superior conduct on the battlefield. So it is well known that the military uses “disposable resources” sometimes and in that setting for my dad, the leaders did lead honestly. War is dirty and ugly and the two current wars are no diffent than the others. Sad but true. But out of that are heros and hero leaders.

  14. diamondlil Says:

Very well said Vickie - My father also served in WWII,lying in fox holes with bullets passing over his head and watching his buddy die next to him. It is sad but true. I also consider him a hero for fighting for our country. America….Home Of The Free Because of the Brave.

  15. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #11 diamondlil–

Roger, have you ever served our country or do you just serve up meaningless thoughts on these sites? No one deserves to die whether they enlist or volunteer.

No diamondlil, I didnt serve our country. I tried but was declined for medical reasons. I actually tried 3 different times. Did you serve? If not, why not?

If I misunderstood what you meant by your comment on post #8 when you said In case you don’t know, Rog - there is no draft…everyone who enlisted, did so on their own free will. then I hope you will enlighten me.

what did you mean when you said they enlisted on their own free will…. it sounded to me like you meant they knew what they were in for so we shouldnt morn them. they werent drafted.

    I disagree with that.

  16. Roger from Ohio Says:

WWII was a different war. It was thought of then as an honorable war. It was…. we went there to defend our country, we went to defend the world. Times are different now, the soldiers are still as heroic, the way war is fought now is different.

The Iraq war isnt honorable, there is no one that we are defending, there is no one that we are protecting. This war was waged for revenge and profit. simple as that.

I dont believe that any military person enlisted to protect Iraqi oil wells, or the pocketbook of the war machine.

They shouldnt be used for that purpose either. I wish the leaders of today were as heroic as the ones from our history. Maybe our future leaders will learn from this current administration.

    we can hope.

Thank you to both of your heroes.

  17. Kelly Says:

    Roger…

Absolutely accurate distinction. Thank you for saying it –

  18. diamondlil Says:

They enlisted because they wanted to not because they had to and yes they knew the possibilities of war. My niece was in Iraq and she said she would do it all over again and if the call comes for her to go back, she’s ready. Once again, you’ve taken my post out of content…no where did I insinuate we shouldn’t morn for the ones that knew what they were in for. I would have gladly served my country had I the chance to do so. War does not scare me however, terrorists do.

  19. diamondlil Says:

    Rog says:
Maybe our future leaders will learn from this current administration.
    Response:
Maybe our future leaders will thank this current administration.

  20. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #18 diamondlil–

Once again, you’ve taken my post out of content…no where did I insinuate we shouldn’t morn for the ones that knew what they were in for.

Please put it back into content. Explain to me…. Kelly said that she hopes the next war is fought by the children of the people that waged that war. A valid thought from someone that will have family in harms way. Your response to her was in post #4 was Be careful for what you wish for….didn’t you say your brother was going to Iraq? What a comment to make!
When I defended her comment in post #6, you responded to me in post #8 In case you don’t know, Rog - there is no draft…everyone who enlisted, did so on their own free will.

What did you mean by that? if you didnt mean it in a negative light like I thought, please enlighten me…. what did u mean?

  21. marthe Says:

Yes, Roger, my dad quit his first year of college and my mom’s dad enlisted because he was insulted that he was deemed too old to draft. My aunt also served as a nurse. Fortunately all came home safely; well my dad suffered hearing loss.

This just in: Bristol Palin gave birth this weekend to Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston

  22. diamondlil Says:

OMG Roger - I can understand the medical reasons why you were rejected from the military. She said “I hope your children are on the front line”….To wish death on anyone is so unamerican. Don’t you know the difference between enlisting in the military and being drafted??? Anyone who enlists, does it because they want to…when they are drafted, they have to go in. Nothing negative about that, is there?

  23. Diane Says:

….And my father is a retired decorated Colonel from the Army in Korea. He is also a passionate Democrat, supporter of Barack Obama…and he has long time “called out” all the chicken hawks that blindly support war at any cost, and NEVER WORE THE UNIFORM, no diplomacy, no sanctions, no personal blood ‘in the game’, and who had powerful’daddies’ that got them deferments, or football injuries, or cysts on their butts, or got them cushy military gigs in “champagne units”, Limbaugh, Buchanan, Delay, Cheney, Dan Quayle, Saxby Chambliss, and more.

I don’t want to sound like I “own” military sacrifice…like Elizabeth Hasselback did when she called Joy Behar out on Veterans Day this year…” DO YOU KNOW PEOPLE THAT ARE SERVING…WELL I DO…” as if she “owned it” and was so self righteous. …yeah, yeah Timmy Hasselbeck, retired footabl player. we coul dhave used him. He’s young and healthy - why didnt ha ENLIST….Pat Tillman did. I don’t even want to go there.

I am an unabashed passionate progressive Democrat, and I believe in a strong military. But I am sick and tired of the jingoistic , feel-good empty phrases that attempt to wrap us all up in the flag and carry a bible to make it all absolutely right all the time: flag pins, support the troop magnetic bumper stickers., while we don’t give them adequate helmut liners, and proper gear, and “we go into to war with the military we have instead of the military we want”…(Rumsfeld)…and we don’t support the families PROPERLY back home with benefits, and why didn’t Mccain support Jim Webb’s JUNE military beneifts bill,(he was absent for the vote) and 11 other bills on the last several years to freaking “SUPPORT THE TROOPS”, and we did nt send in enough troops to Iraq to begin with, …empty jingoistic phrases to the real people that sacrifice.

The last bastian of a coward is to hide behind the flag…carrying a bible.

  24. Roger from Ohio Says:

what medical reasons are you portraying from my posts? If you want to insult me please at least be clear.

Yes I know the difference between enlisting and being drafted….. I also believe that both soldiers should be protected the same way by our leaders….. dismissing the sorrow felt and the tragedy of the death of a soldier by saying that they enlisted is insulting to all Americans.

No one wishes death, at least no one that I have read on here, but maybe…. just maybe, if the leaders would be putting their own children in harms way, they might think more about sending our collective children off to war for reasons that dont exist.

  25. Kelly Says:

Diamondlil buzz off - are you really that stupid?

You are undeniably delusional if you think anyone owes Bush or his administration gratitude for the cesspool of mismanagement his ‘leadership’ has brought us. OPEN YOUR EYES simple. He is an invalid president – he does not represent me. You exist in a world of 27% who blindly follow him while he sinks his blade into your back.

Do you see two wars raging on without end in sight - do you see this economy - do you see our soldiers coming home in caskets - do you see millions dead in Iraq and still no bin Laden – do you see jobs drying up – businesses shutting down – climate change altering our landscape – do you see wages dropping –the middle class disappearing – the rich getting away with murder and the poor sleeping on the streets?

Who the hell do you think you are coming on this site and defending that fool of a president? You aren’t real – some spoiled ugly princess Diamond Lil? Please – spare us your superficial views of the world and your over-inflated sense of self worth within it.

Don’t you dare address me - or accuse me of being unAmerican you sad little Rush tool. Get a new rally cry – you unpatriotic mess.

How do survive in this world so close-minded and self-centered. I would love to see the Bush twins suited up and on the front line - maybe then BUSH would bother himself with putting this country first - and ALL of its citizens.

    You disgust me.

  26. ShannonP Says:

This site has become such a negative vibed site. I came back from vacation and started to catch up, but it’s not even worth it to wade through all the negativity. It didn’t use to be that way, there were interesting conversations. Now it’s just petty bullshit and politics 24/7 and people trying to prove who is smarter or more entitled to an opinion. Seriously doesn’t anyone have a hobby or some creative outlet to invest in instead of coming here and bickering about stuff you’ll never agree on? It’s not a conversation when the other person doesn’t care about your answer and is only here to stir things up.
I think if someone comes on here with the obvious intent to disrupt, they should be banned…period. But it’s not my site.

  27. diamondlil Says:

Ditto Kelly - you unamerican unpatriotic huffpo tool

  28. NanW. Says:

#25 Kelly, Bravo, BRAVO! You said what I have been thinking for so long.
#26 ShannonP says, ” I think if someone comes here with the obvious intent to disrupt, they should be banned…period. I totally agree.
I said here days ago that some people on this site take pleasure in sowing hatred and that I wished for them peace of mind and heart. But today I just wish they would go far, far away.

  29. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #26 ShannonP–

I think if someone comes on here with the obvious intent to disrupt, they should be banned…period. But it’s not my site.

That might be valid if it happens repeatedly. I know there are times that I have disagreed with others, and someone might have thought that I was just trying to be disruptive.
I dont want to have anyone banned because they disagree…. People need to be able to vocalize their disagreement if it is valid.

Being disagreeable is quite a different thing.

  30. Monica Says:

Shannon #26…..Thank you….I agree with you! Every person who wishes to express their view, belief or opinion has a fantastic opportunity to do so with out spewing unending hatred!

I can’t understand why there is so much hate and violence…..what does it accomplish? I believe we can do better and should want to do better.

What I see happening in this country makes me very sad….I don’t trust my government on any level…be it local, state or national…..we quite obviously are OWNED by corporations….especially the media…..and lobbyists quite frankly should not play a part in any society who claims they are a democracy.

There are serious and grave issues that touch nearly every man and woman who are trying to work for a living and provide for their families in this country…..Can’t we agree that we need to look at possible and perhaps worthy solutions….can’t we all, regardless of race or greed come together for the common good of all citizens?

  31. diamondlil Says:

    #29
The problem with this site is that if you not anti-bush, anti-EH, or a Democrat, your views and opinions aren’t open for discussion. People on this site take pleasure in sowing hatred for the republicans.

  32. Sandy Says:

    #26 ShannonP..
Deep sigh…I so understand your sentiments.

    Absolutely.…

    .# 30 Monica,
.Can’t we agree that we need to look at possible and perhaps worthy solutions….can’t we all, regardless of race or greed come together for the common good of all citiz.

I believe wholeheartedly that We CAN, and that most of us are trying to do so.

  33. Roger from Ohio Says:

I dont hate Republicans…. I totally disagree on their philosophy on how the country should be ran. For 12 years they held the congress, whitehouse or both…. and the results of the Republican policies have damaged our country.

America’s standing in the world has been diminished. Our economy is the worse that it has been since the depression. The world is less safe, and terrorism has increased.

Republicans have proven that their ideas are the wrong ideas…. it has taken quite a while, but American has finally accepted that fact.

That isnt hatred of Republicans…. that is just the facts of today.

I have heard you before… “All of this is the fault of the Democrats” “Clinton put us in a bad way” “Bush isnt to be blamed, he is just hated”
I have heard it all…… but the bottom line is this…. American has spoken… Republican rule was a failure.

President Obama and his administration will work to clean up the mess put forth by George W. Bush and his crew.

Republicans lost… America won…. I wish you could see that….. maybe you do, but u cant bring yourself to say it.

  34. Sandy Says:

    A different View,

I have been commenting on this site for somewhere around a year & 1/2.
I am not a Democrat, I am not anti E.H., President Bush..well I’ll say that I have several problems with him.

I have had some disagreements with my fellow commenters,..several.. However, I can say that I never felt like I was treated unfairly, or disrespected. I actually look upon most of the comments here as friends, and friendly.
Perhaps, that may be because I have always tried to treat others as i want to be treated. I try to have respect for different views.

  35. diamondlil Says:

    #33
Yes, the republicans lost, but America hasn’t won anything yet…unless you have a crystal ball, that’s yet to be seen.

I have mostly become a silent blogger, on the “off topic thread”..I read but seldom write anymore. I realize I do not have to come , so I try to stay with The View recaps.
I wish more of our “off topics” thread were a little more fun and light hearted. Not 100% but more of a balance.

I think it’s pretty obvious what I’m talking about Roger. I said disruptive, not disagreeable. People that come here to spread hate, that attack others, that have the sole intent to disrupt and insult, not to have a healthy discussion.
It’s not just those doing it that are the problem, it’s those responding to it too. And that those doing it are allowed to continue it day after day instead of being banned.

Yes I know what you were talking about, and I do agree with you.
I was expecting a comment about how we want to ban people that disagree…. I was trying to “nip that in the bud” before it was said. I wanted to point out that one can disagree without being disagreeable.

I know Im probably part of the problem. I just cant bring myself to allow hate and lies going unchallenged. Maybe Im wrong about that, but I feel that I have had to be quite for so long I dont want to be quiet any longer.

I am a Moderate/Liberal Democrat….. depending on who you ask…. that is actually an insult…. I am proud of it.

Thanks Roger- It is 10:57 pm, here in New York State. I assume it is the same in Ohio. However, our comments clock says only 9:47 pm. I have to “clock out” and get some beauty sleep. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  42. Roger from Ohio Says:

Good night Marilyn….. Im looking forward to your thread tomorrow. I want to have a discussion with you…. your topic… your ideas.

    sleep well.

  43. ShannonP Says:

What I don’t get is why all the Republican vs. Democrat us vs. them crap on this site? It’s WATCHING THE VIEW. The election is over. If people still feel the need to be obsessive about it, there are many political blogs and websites. Why does it have to take over this one? I’m not talking how we talk about it now and then in a natural flowing conversation, I’m talking how it has appeared to take over the site.

  44. Roger from Ohio Says:

what would u like to talk about ShannonP?

The View is a re-run…. I didnt watch it today, I already saw it… did you watch?

Since it was a re-run…. should we just not post anything? All the things that Kelly has posted about Connell? I know this is about The View…. and we often talk about it… This is the off topic section.

Yes politics can be a nasty discussion at times, but do u remember the nasty and hatefulness that was going on during the election season and just after? Most of those people have moved on, not because the election is over, but because they werent allowed to spew their hatred without being held accountable for it.

I dont think this site is a Republican vs Democrat site…. or a Us vs Them site… but a site that requires you to be able to back up your View with facts and reasons instead of just an opinion.

  45. Kelly Says:

Shannon - you might have a different perspective if you were the one they were attacking on a regular basis. You think I should ignore it – yet you aren’t able to either.

Roger - take care - it was fun chatting with you, Diane, NanC, NanW, MiamiVision, rain, Stacee, mibi, berndoubt, and others. We have all been through so much this past year - this blog was bound to reflect that.

There were a number of us who wanted to support Winnie’s site, and enjoy Winnie’s site, but aren’t interested in watching The View anymore. So Winnie created the Off-Topic forum so we wouldn’t get in the way of your light-hearted fun.

You all don’t want politics on this blog – that’s fine – I hear you.

I hope your site returns to its original glory.

    Goodbye and thanks again Winnie.

  46. ShannonP Says:

I don’t watch the View…I don’t have TV. I catch clips of it online now and then.
And I enjoy a political discussion. The keyword there is discussion. I was active during the campaign and almost to the point of obsession. But what happens on this site isn’t a poltical discussion, it’s embarassing to see adults act so childish towards each other.

  47. Lajet Says:

Sandy - that’s because you are always so respectful of others and their opinions, even when questioning or disagreeing

PRIOR POST: War does not scare me however, terrorists do.

RESPONSE: I’m not a pacifist. I supported the war when it began. Now I’m not sure. I never supported engaging in a war in such a stupid, unprepared manner!!!
However, war scare me terribly!! Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t go. Doesn’t mean there aren’t good reasons to go to war - sometimes. WWII is a classic example.
    I’m reminded of a quote:

It is well that war is so terrible, or we should grow too fond of it.

MSNBC is reporting that the first photos of the latest Palin spawn could sell for as much of $300k. Palin actually hasn’t been a big mag seller, but the recent arrest of the dad’s mom apparently bumped up the price.

And, um, you know, Caroline Kennedy is not coming across as very articulate in her interviews.

  49. Jennie Says:

  50. MiamiVision Says:

Awwww Kelly - too bad you’re leaving! I mean, this IS the off-topic blog for WTV (thanks Winnie for that), you don’t have to leave nor let anyone push you out the door. Give this a re-think, k?

  51. marthe Says:

I was just reading Lee Camp’s piece at Huffpo about whether Obama will pursue criminal charges against Bush, Cheney, et al. My feeling is that the nation needs such actions to heal, but the worry is Obama will just want to hold hands and sing kumbayah.

    Kelly,
I really hope this is not a final goodbye. I value your research and insights too much. Although I may not always post, I almost never miss reading this site. And your posts(and many others) are what keeps bringing me back for more. And if you find some other site that is more welcoming for your thoughts, let us know. I would still keep up with Winnie’s blog, but I would also love to learn from you, too. Thanks, NanW.

  54. Sandy Says:

    Just for the record, and speaking for me;
I don’t mind the political discussions at all.
As a matter of fact, I have learned a lot by reading some of the political discussions here.

I’m very curious about this comment, and I’m not sure I understand what you mean. Could you explain, …what it is that you consider an insult?

Being called a Liberal, especally by someone from the right, is meant to be an insult. Liberal has become a bad word… so much so that people have stopped referring to themselves as Liberal and go with “progressive”

Liberal is associated with big government, over spending, high taxes, weak foreign policy, surrender, Anti-Americanism, cowardness, and weakness.

None of those things define liberal…. but the right wants you to believe it anyway.

  58. Sandy Says:

    Thank you Roger.
It’s just the way I read it I guess, that was confusing me.
I’m glad that you are proud, that is how it should be. :)

  59. mibi Says:

kelly not sure you’ll read but it would be totally backwards if you were to stop posting while certain other are still here. If you have something to share please do.

  60. diane10 Says:

#54 Sandy Unfortunately it is not possible to have political discussions on this particular blog. I believe it has to do with the personalities involved. “Back in the day” discussions on politics and religion were generally avoided because people were more respectful of other’s opinions. That’s not the case today. All of the rules have changed which gets us on a level of cut and paste debates.

I’m glad you’ve learned a lot from reading the posts regarding politics. I’ve learned quite a lot, too.

diamondlil Says: “The problem with this site is that if you not anti-bush, anti-EH, or a Democrat, your views and opinions aren’t open for discussion. People on this site take pleasure in sowing hatred for the republicans.”

Works both ways. And speaking of hateful comments, I remember yours. Particularly the play on words you made about Obama’s “inauguration”. Talk about sowing hate. Yet you are here trying to play victim, like you’ve played no part in throwing stones.

  62. diane10 Says:

It’s a sad day in America when one wakes up angry @ 6:46 a.m.

  63. Stacee Says:

THAT makes a sad day in America???
    LOL!!!! :-D

  64. Kimberly Says:

The blame and intolerance goes both ways, IMO. Minds need to open in a lot of areas.

  65. Pat Says:

ITA diane10 and Kimberly! (Goodmorning, btw) It does work both ways. There are faults on both sides….just like there are faults on both Repubs and Dems. No one side is to blame for all what has happened in the past or current issues today. This site has put the blame on our current President for everything that has happened, and it’s just not true…every politician should be held accountable. Our government is not perfect, but it’s what we have to make America the greatest place on earth. It’s very hard to respect the new administration going in when the past administration has been so disrespected. Freedom Of Speech is a great thing!!! Both sides will always disagree and that won’t change….but to hear other countries laugh at us for the disrespect that has been shown is a very sad day for America.

#61 stacee….I thought personal attacks on here were not allowed (per Winnie) Maybe you should have a cup of coffee first before posting such attacks on other posters.

Pat Says: “#61 stacee….I thought personal attacks on here were not allowed (per Winnie) Maybe you should have a cup of coffee first before posting such attacks on other posters.”

Pat, specifically, what personal attack did I make?
Maybe it is you that needs a cup of coffee??

  67. diane10 Says:

Well said, Pat!!! Both sides will always disagree and that will not change.

Honestly, personal attacks so early in the morning!! No wonder new people visit this site and land somewhere else. It must be frustrating for Winnie to lose so many visitors to her site. Hopefully that will change in 2009.

  68. Pat Says:

So early in the morning attacks…omg!!! I can’t imagine waking up angry?? I am enjoying my 2nd cup of Hazelnut coffee and enjoying the sunshine and saying “what a beautiful morning”!

I am very happy this morning…sounds like you are too, diane10….

  69. Stacee Says:

Pat Say: “This site has put the blame on our current President for everything that has happened, and it’s just not true…”

MY RESPONSE: Stop blaming “this site”. When you do so, you imply Winnie does it, and I have not seen her do no such thing. Perhaps there are some people that do have ill feelings toward this administration, but don’t blame it on “this site”. Individual posters do not equal “this site”.

  70. Pat Says:

    Pleeeeeze stacee…chill out!!!!!!!!!!!

    Relax my dear…it’s a good morning….enjoy it…it’s the last morning in 2008….don’t spoil it…. :-)

  71. diane10 Says:

    Pat, it’s sad isn’t it?

  72. Stacee Says:

Ahhh, as usual, Pat can’t back up her earlier assertion. LOL.
Lying so early in the morning. I can’t imagine waking up so early and outright lying. How sad.

    Enjoy your hazel nut.
It is indeed a beautiful morning! :-)

LOL Pat. I think it’s you that needs to chill. Especially since you were challened to name a personal attack, and failed to do so.
And yes, it’s the last day of 2008. Looking forward to 2009, particulary Jan. 20th. :-)

  74. Roger from Ohio Says:

This is really an interesting post by you Pat… I have a couple of comments, I sure do hope you are respectful enough to answer these comments without attacking me.

    #65 Pat–

No one side is to blame for all what has happened in the past or current issues today. This site has put the blame on our current President for everything that has happened, and it’s just not true…every politician should be held accountable

Years ago Harry Truman said about the presidency, “The buck stops here” I dont think he meant just HIS presidency, but was talking about ALL presidents. So when the president is in charge, he is responsible for what goes on during his administration. President Obama has a mess to clean up…. if he doesnt clean it up and allows things to continue the way they have been going, he will be to blame also. If the mess gets cleaned up he will get the credit.

It’s very hard to respect the new administration going in when the past administration has been so disrespected.

Shouldnt everyone be criticized for their own merit? I believe that Bush has earned most of the criticism that he receives by his past actions. The Republican party got smaller under his leadership. The way I read that comment of yours, if I criticize George W. Bush, then you will hold President Obama responsible for it. That makes no sense.
I speak highly of President Obama because I expect good things from him. I criticize George Bush because he failed to meet my expectations.
I understand that you feel you are being a good Republican (independent  ) by “disrespecting” President Obama…. and maybe you are…. but at the same time…. “disrespecting” the President of the United States
before he even takes office, or makes any mistakes, that is just being a poor American.

Freedom Of Speech is a great thing!!! Both sides will always disagree and that won’t change….but to hear other countries laugh at us for the disrespect that has been shown is a very sad day for America.

That is a very good comment… one to learn from… my question to you is, why do you perpetuate the disrespect shown?

  75. Roger from Ohio Says:

looks like I get bitten by the bold monster

  76. diane10 Says:

Pat, we have choices in life…we can choose to be happy or we can choose to be sad. We can choose to live in column 1 of “things I can control” or in column 2 of “things I cannot control.”

I would rather “err” on the side of being disgustingly happy any day of the week! I live in column 1 because that’s where I can make a difference.

I’d love to be able to buy you another cup of Hazelnut!!

  77. Stacee Says:

    Good post Roger, Well stated.
    And good morning :-)

  78. Pat Says:

Oh rog dear…I am not doing the political garbage this morning! I just wanted to say there are faults on both sides….no one person or party is to blame….that’s all folks!

I am having a great morning….and enjoying the heck out of it…nothing is going to bring me down…hazelnut coffee is the greatest!!! Say what you want…but it’s a beautiful morning!!! My day is perfect!

  79. Kimberly Says:

Can’t everyone agree to disagree? That’s the beauty of this country. We’re all entitled to our opinions. I don’t expct everyone to agree with me. I am however open to other opinions.

  80. diane10 Says:

It cannot be healthy for America to criticize and blame an outgoing president. After all, the same thing could happen to PE Obama after four years.

Seems to me we should honor anyone who would commit their lives to public service…through the good times and the bad times.

  81. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #78 Pat–

Oh rog dear…I am not doing the political garbage this morning!

Oh Pat… Im so disappointed… I thought u posted that to start a conversation. I didnt realize that you meant we should just shut up and listen to you.

Respect goes both ways… I try to show you respect, I just wish u would return that same respect toward me.

  82. diane10 Says:

Kimberly, you are a constant ray of sunshine and a reminder of what’s right in America…

  83. Kimberly Says:

I, for one, will give President Obama the benefit of the doubt. I am looking forward to see what his leadership will bring. I think it’s neat that we’re going to have a young family in the White House. I wish them nothing but the best of luck.

  84. Pat Says:

    rog…don’t be disappointed…not today…it’s a beautiful day…enjoy…relax…let’s have fun here..enjoy your coffee or tea…the music is great at work…lovin it!!! :-)

  85. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #80 Diane10–

It cannot be healthy for America to criticize and blame an outgoing president. After all, the same thing could happen to PE Obama after four years.

I do understand your comment… but dont the people on the right still blame Bill Clinton for problems of today? I still hear things like “Dont blame Bush, Clinton caused this”
It is a good sentiment, but it isnt very realistic. It is actually a pretty common right wing argument. If the left is at fault, they are just bad Americans, if the right is at fault, everyone is to blame

This has been said many times before, but needs to be said again…..

for the last 12 years, the Republicans have been in charge of Congress, the Whitehouse, or both…. in those 12 years, using any measurement that you want, American is in worse shape then they were 12 years ago. That says to me that the ideas and policies have been the cause of that downturn. Which in turn means… the Republican leadership has failed America
Everyone isnt to blame for that.

  86. diane10 Says:

Okay, Roger, but we have to believe that every president we put into the White House makes decisions by the information they are given. They surround themselves with people who actually think for them.

In my opinion, it is never good to blame an outgoing president. It is not healthy for America.

America is in bad shape. It was in bad shape during the depression. It seems to be cyclical. We always come out of the bad times. This recession, however, will take a little longer to turn around. Obama should be able to turn it around but if he doesn’t I don’t think it would be fair to criticize him as an outgoing president.

I am an American. I support the President of the United States through the good and the bad.

  87. diane10 Says:

    And, that includes President Bush.

I would prefer not to get into any of this because it seems to stir the pot. I just want to go on record as a republican who is looking forward to changes in 2009 with a democratic president. What Bush could not accomplish, I hope Obama will!

  88. Kimberly Says:

    Well stated diane10!

Thank you for that…. I wasnt trying to “stir the pot” I just think everyone should be able to back up what they say. One of the reasons that I enjoy talking with you is that you are able to back up your thoughts, and you are open to new ideas and you give out strong points. You are also respectful.

I do wish everyone would show the respect that you show diane10…. lookin forward to your postings of 2009.

you are such a maverick ;)

  90. diane10 Says:

You are sweet,Roger, to say those things. I’ve been called many things on these threads but never a maverick! I’m a middle of the road personality who always hopes for the best. I believe there can be no “good times” if we haven’t experienced the “bad times.”

  91. Stacee Says:

    #87 Well stated, diane10.
Kimberly has made some respectful and thought provoking comments as well.

  92. Kimberly Says:

Stacee– I truly appreciate that. Thank you.

    Thanks, Stacee.
