Great News! Terrorist Fist Jab Gal, E.D. Hill, to leave Fox News Channel!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZBpO49e5jg
You might remember E.D. on The View when E.H. was joyfully missing? Her contract was NOT renewed – she was the news reporter who started the discussion of the Obama’s fist punch as a terrorist coded handshake.
The entire world youtubed this absurd statement, Fox was forced to apologize, but The View’s token Republican seemed to have missed the memo and regurgitated the statement on air. TLB went on to defend her stupidity by saying the fist jab is “distracting.” E.D. loses her 10-year job for her lack of professionalism but E.H. rants on and on and on…unchallenged and – to borrow her own favorite phrase – unrepentant!!!!
Babs – even Fox has shown some journalistic integrity in removing their cancerous blonde GOPette – you should too.

Hi there!
DIG THIS: The View, by any means necessary, wants to win an award of any type, therefore, they are allowing stuip Elisabeth run her mouth & then they call her the young/dizzy-blonde as their excuse.
‘E’ has no clue as to what’s happening in the real world - rememger she was the 4th place person in Survival, daa-so that should tell you something & she broke-up a marriage, so what can you expect from her.
If, ‘E’ could be as polished, professional, educated, motherly & loved as the Obama family she could then be taken into consideration.
When she was opening act for the dingiest ‘VP-Palin’ dragging her kids out of school, spending money without knowledge (how smart is that) & not knowing which newspapers she reads, that’s elementary! But, ‘E’ swears by her.
Oops, Fox needs a replacement, somebody, give it to ‘EH’….
But, Hot Topics are what they are!!!
Talk to ya’

Good Morning All
A quote from Barbra Streisand’s blog
11.05.08
A New Day
November 5th…what a day… a new day….finally Dr. King’s words ring true that one day we will live in a nation where people “will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” After 2 stolen elections, this time, in this election over 57 million Americans made their voices heard. I am so proud of our country today…miraculously overnight we have regained the respect of the world. From England to Africa, people are celebrating Barack Obama’s victory…proof that he is the first truly global President. Last night, Americans took this wonderful country back from the party and the leaders that have led us astray over the past eight years. So I thank each and every one of you for standing in line for hours to vote. Americans have regained their optimism and renewed their sense of hope …and now we all look to a brighter tomorrow. Unlike most of the public, the pundits and the politicians, President-elect Barack Obama rejected the idea of an America comprised of blue states versus red states…and last night he proved to each and every one of us that we truly are the United States of America.

As long as The View gets good ratings, EH is safe. When the ratings dip, BW and BG will revamp. So we cannot get our hopes up too high….
November 18th, 2008 at 9:53 am
a little extra news…..
Brit Hume is also leaving Faux News…
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081105/people_nm/us_hume
Basically he said he is “quitting his job” so he can go to his grandkids plays and “grandparent events” Also, he said he is leaving so he can become a good christian… He alluded that you cant be a good christian and be involved in business.
It sounds to me like Faux News is revamping themselves for the new administration. If they keep all the people that called democrats terrorists and surrendering cowards then they wont get any interviews from the new Administration… u know… kinda like how the Bush Administration did with the press other than Faux News.

#4 Lynn, or we can just stop watching ourselves - and spread the word not to watch until Bitsy is gone —
November 18th, 2008 at 10:03 am
Has anyone else noticed that we lost all of our trolls? We even lost that one woman that spent 3 hours calling me a republican troll and a liar, then threatened to have me run off of this site. (Im glad winnie didnt)
Im sure they will be back once President Obama starts to improve America…. and we will correct all of their inaccurate comments then too.
November 18th, 2008 at 10:18 am
Troll-free. That’s why it smells so good around here!
November 18th, 2008 at 10:20 am
Bitsy: “Can we come back and discuss the reason that Christians are upset about gay marriage?”
COMMERCIAL BREAK
“So, on Dancing with the Stars last night…”
Is there a methadone clinic for View addicts?
November 18th, 2008 at 10:30 am
Berndoubt, actually their is a support group and it is called “Watching the View.
Hi, my name is Susieq and i’m a Viewaholic.
November 18th, 2008 at 10:30 am
I think I figured it out….
During hot topics, they were talking about the Prop 8 issue…… EH wanted to make a point but she knew that there wasnt enough time before break…. so she suggested that they go to break so she can make her “religious” point after. When they came back, they started to talk about dancing with the stars instead…..
Im thinking that they are “required” to “promote” those shows, so they cant talk about anything else except in the first part of the show.
Now we get to watch Sherri scream and run around….. maybe like someone said yesterday…… we are all a bunch of idiots for watching and putting up with the “dumbing down” that this show does.
November 18th, 2008 at 10:32 am
Maybe Bill Getty didnt want to “offend” the religious right.
November 18th, 2008 at 10:38 am
#7 Yes, but seriously Rog – she (Sandy Woodward ?) wasn’t a troll. She and I thought you were Michael - the kingpin of trollville. We suspected several of our former trolls of playing the Sybil card (film by Sally Field on dissociative identity disorder) – logging on under different user names to create the illusion of numbers.
You shared Michael’s writing style – and we were both waiting for the other shoe to drop.
November 18th, 2008 at 10:46 am
Welcome sister susieq.
I bet The View’s numbers are dropping -
November 18th, 2008 at 10:55 am
ask a tough question…. get a convo started…. attempt to pin them down to an actual answer……. time for a commercial break…. this show is so transparent
November 18th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Kelly–
That Michael must have been a great writer…. shame he was on the wrong side of the truth …. well I cant say that…… I never saw him.
I can understand the mistake… I was only offended for a little while but I got over it… I actually did think that I was gonna be disallowed to stay here. I even tried really hard to be good and not start any controversies….. but I couldnt do it and figured I should just be myself and let the chips fall where they may.
sorry you all have to deal with me *giggle*
November 18th, 2008 at 11:15 am
i read somewhere that because of the election, The View received high ratings. It’s funny how Barbara and the other women keep insisting to everyone that the drama and fighting of season 10 is in the past. But that is the only way that they get high ratings. Since season 10, Elisabeth has cried, yelled, called Joy a liar, dissed the new first lady, etc and it’s been all over the news. I doubt Elisabeth will be going anywhere but they will continue to lose good guests because of it…
November 18th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Rog
Truth is one-sided and has been missing in the Republican Party for some time. Politics is multifaceted. And Michael was most definitely on the side of delusion.
And he was a good writer, smart. It always amazes me how someone so smart could root for his or her own destruction. But then I watched Jesus Camp – and got a few more answers.
MORE GOOD NEWS:
Texas losing stature, clout
When President George W. Bush turns the Oval Office over to Barack Obama, he might as well dump the Lone Star of Texas into the bed of his pickup and haul it off with him.
The 28th state has loomed large over Washington for much of the past century — think the president, his father, Lyndon Johnson, Sam Rayburn, John Tower, Dick Armey and Tom DeLay.
But at noon on Jan. 20, Texas becomes — please don’t throw things — just another state.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/15713.html
November 18th, 2008 at 11:37 am
Kelly, one reason Texas might lose some of their clout is because of the growing Hispanic population. Also, George Bush didn’t do Texans any favors with his “good ole boy” personality. The Dixie Chicks took a lot of flak for saying they were embarrassed to be from the same state as GW but I have a feeling there were a lot of Texans that felt the same way but were afraid to say it.
States all over the country are changing. Who would have thought Virginia and North Carolina would have turned blue this year?
November 18th, 2008 at 11:42 am
That is so true re: Virginia and NC, but who would have thought California wouldn’t pass Prop 8?
Didn’t McCain have an anti-Immigration policy?
I don’t think minorities support other minorities…with the exception of some Latinos/Hispanics/Mexicans.
I have worked with women in upper levels of management who worked aggressively/unethically to hold other women back.
I have Mexican family members and friends who would never vote for a black president (although many non-Midwestern Latinos voted for Obama).
And now we have (according to this AP story) Latinos and Blacks suppressing Gay Civil Rights.
However, the worst ‘group’ of Americans to engage in bigotry are the Religious Right (as represented by the Mormon Church, Rush Limbaugh, George Bush, Ann Coulter, et el):
70% of African Americans backed Prop. 8, exit poll finds
12:10 PM, November 5, 2008
A lot of Obama/Yes-on-8 voters? The Associated Press exit polls show that African Americans and Latinos backed Proposition 8 in good numbers. Details here from AP:
California’s black and Latino voters, who turned out in droves for Barack Obama, also provided key support in favor of the state’s same-sex marriage ban. Seven in 10 black voters backed a successful ballot measure to overturn the California Supreme Court’s May decision allowing same-sex marriage, according to exit polls for The Associated Press.
More than half of Latino voters supported Proposition 8, while whites were split. Religious groups led the tightly organized campaign for the measure, and religious voters were decisive in getting it passed. Of the seven in 10 voters who described themselves as Christian, two-thirds backed the initiative. Married voters and voters with children strongly supported Proposition 8. Unmarried voters were heavily opposed.

November 18th, 2008 at 11:53 am
it would be interesting to have these polls answer some of these questions….
How many people were polled?
How many different areas were polled?
How many times of day were the polls taken?
Were certain areas targeted or was it random?
These all could answer if the poll was an honest one or if the polling had a preconceived agenda.
November 18th, 2008 at 11:54 am
Bigots are taught to be bigots. That is what is so scary. Elisabeth always brings up how is she going to explain things to her kids. If my son had asked me about same sex couples when he was younger I would have told him they love one another like you’re father and I love one another. Kids learn to react by watching the way their parents react.
November 18th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
I don’t know if anyone else saw Stewart interview O’Reilly on the Daily Show last Thursday, but he made the point that just because people go to church does not make them good people, it just means they go to church. I think the point of religion and the bible is to question it and discuss it, not merely follow it by blind faith.
November 18th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Absolutely 21, 22 & 23
November 18th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
All I can think of right now is the perverse pleasure I take in the thought that every day in NYC must be an assault on Bitsy’s tender, “Christian” sensiblities. She must feel like she’s in Gomorrah! And if she’d just open her beady, little eyes she’d realize that “they” are just like “us”!
November 18th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
#6: Yes, we could stop watching! My daughter used to watch and record the show when she worked but gave up- she says “Who cares what those women think?” But, really, what other TV show offers 4 or 5 females discussing anything? It is just that the show fails to deliver what it used to, according to long time watchers, and doesn’t live up to the promise it could aspire to with a replacement for EH. Give me a right wing republican voice, who cares, but a woman with brains and the ability to debate, discuss, deliver! EH is a wannabe and offers zero. Let her join her BFF Palin on the tundra!
Good discussion re: Prop 8 here. I have a gay cousin who is married to another of same sex. They have a huge, happy family and NO ONE CARES that they’re gay! They are smart, educated, employed, etcetcetc. How is their union hurting EH? It isn’t, that’s how…….
November 18th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Someone request a TROLL?
One day the Thomas Beaties of the world will have to explain to their children that daddy carried them in his womb. I call that Part II to the psychological breakdown of our children and how they view a normal relationship. Part I is same sex marriage and children. So, what’s next America? Equal rights for livestock? Centaurs? Hey, we cannot discriminate!! Equal rights for all! Let the good times roll, YL’s.
November 18th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Equal rights for livestock…people always think they are so witty when they make that connection. That if we allow gay people to have sex/marry, soon people will want to f*ck their sheep too and we’ll be condoning that. It scares me to think that there are actually people on this earth that are that unintelligent, both intellectually and emotionally.
November 18th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
As there are straight people who allow their children to do too much, see too much etc, I am sure there are some gays who may allow their children to exposed to certain things. However, that does not mean the majority of them would. Why is it assumed that gays cannot be loving, reasonable, appropriate parents simply because they are gay?
November 18th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
sorry.. that was meant for the other thread
November 18th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Well, it was a “stretch” to make a point…where will it all end? Once the young liberals of America have successfully broken down the fiber of America with their liberal ideas of approving of children living under the same roof of the Thomas Beatie’s their minds will never be able to compute that a relationship between a man and a women is a normal relationship.
You think I’m NOT intelligent because I don’t buy the crap you believe.
November 18th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
Hello from Toronto where gay marriage is legal.Doesn’t seem to have caused THAT many problems..and we have a GAY CHURCH so no problems with the paranoid “far rights” thinking they’ll be sued if they don’t do a ceremony.
Hey I know I’m a Canuck BUT I have followed the election very carefully.
Seems like Light won over Dark
Seems like Texas may have to tuck away its star with a Hawk on it for a while..unless.. they plot some other “overthrow” of power as they seem to do.
I think EH is getting a little OLD to be so childish and accepting of her man making her decisions ( like Sherry.. sad to say .. cause I think there MAY be some hope for SS )
EH- Like doing a whole load of shopping and when she got to the cash reg. her “man” said “leave the buggy.. we’re gone”..Doh…
I enjoy the View..the guests.. nice to bring in Huckebby.. guess he has more time now..even though he got the mantra right about supporting Obama.
Cheers from a Peacelover and gun hater..
November 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
yes,
Us young liberals are the epitomy of the societal breakdown. Nevermind that the recent conservative administration who is supposedly about deregulation gave us the patriot act, or that the recent presidential candidate had an affair on his first wife, along with rumors of his wife having her own affair. These, of course are not relevant to the breakdown of society. Do I personally care who has affairs with who, being a liberal? No, I could care less, if it is not effecting their ability to do their job. What I do care about is conservatives who on one hand use morality to push their agendas, and then look the other way when morality is not upheld by their leaders.

November 18th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Diane, I have no hope of getting you to think rationally…I really don’t. Where hate festers, rational thought abandons.
I know I was raised by two straight parents that have been married now for almost 40 years and though I love them, the damage they did to me mentally will always be something I struggle to overcome. Just because kids are brought up by two straight parents, it in no way guarantees anything being normal.
I’ve seen kids torn apart by straight parents having abuse, affairs, divorce etc.
It’s just so naive to think only straight people are capable of healthy and “moral” and “normal” relationships. Love is love.
It’s our conditioning and mental programming that determines whether something is “right” or “wrong” or “moral” or “immoral”.
Just because it’s the way it’s always been done doesn’t mean that it’s the way it always should be done. It’s called progress.
And marriage used to be about women being exchanged as property. So how did we progress from that to where we are now and yet act like it’s always been this ideal beautiful, sacred institution between a man and a woman?

NOPE, not true at all. The bacteria that cause syphilis (Treponema pallidum) only infect humans (i.e., has an exclusively human reservoir).

AIDS not from “SEX” with Monkey…aka Hot Monkey Sex…but from wound.
AIDS traced to African monkeys
2003
LONDON, England — An international group of scientists has traced the ancestry of the virus that caused AIDS back to strains found in African monkeys.
Two different monkey virus strains combined in chimpanzees to create the HIV virus which was then passed on to humans, the scientists told the journal Science.
It is generally believed that a chimpanzee hunter contracted the virus in the early part of the twentieth century by cutting himself while preparing the meat.

correction……..a troll on this site is anyone who dares to disagree
November 18th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
no June…. you are not a troll (as far as I know)
A troll is someone that just spews stuff…. no basis in fact… cant defend what they say…. dont respond to direct questions…. just spew and run off….. then come back and spew some more.
In my opinion, anyone that can defend their view is welcome by me…. and if your view is attacked by a troll Ill defend it…. I might disagree with it but Ill defend your right to say it.
thats how I roll

I did read your wiki answers –but the information is provided by a layperson – without any source – therefore not reliable or accurate. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_did_syphilis_come_from
… syphilis probably cannot be “blamed”—as it often is—on any geographical area or specific race. The evidence suggests that the disease existed in both hemispheres from prehistoric times. It is only coincidental with the Columbus expeditions that the syphilis previously thought of as “lepra” flared into virulence at the end of the fifteenth century… (google: syphilis wikipedia)
Troll: sole purpose is to antagonize with distortions of the truth.

therefore, your information is not provided by a layperson, and I should accept it as the truth?
November 18th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Thank you very much Roger. I’m am probably very left in my party, but I like the purity of less government/taxation and more self reliance as well as states rights/laws. However, that being said, I am very patriotic and feel that all support should be behind our comander and chief, and hoep for the best. Actually I am not a Huckabee supporter, but I did like what he said about Pres.-elect Obama.
My repub of choice lost out, so was not the nom.
November 18th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
#47 I haven’t found a reliable source connecting syphilis to sheep. The best I could find discounted that rumor - of which I posted in full (#37 & 46) -by a non-layperson.
I now know more about syphilis than I ever thought I would…but I have only search in moderation at this moment in time…
If you can provide a better source - please do so.
November 18th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
One of the things I like here is that most people will cite their source. I appreciate being able to check what people are saying, for one because I’m a little skeptical and B) because I might want more information and I can find it myself instead of bothering the poster. An opinion is fine, as long as it’s not intended merely to irritate. Of course, I have noticed that from some of the irritating grains of sand have come the most beautiful pearls of wisdom.

As far as I know, Democrats are not for MORE government – we’re for government actually performing the job we’re paying them to do. They are to be the public watchdog, not the other way around. Remember the Big Oil Orgies with federal employees?
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4188/is_/ai_n28089479
We all see what deregulation has brought us – please don’t make me find the Greenspan testimony.
“Corruption and hypocrisy ought not to be inevitable products of democracy” - Gandhi
Democrats have enriched our lives with Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and Unemployment Relief. Imagine life without these safeguards. Are you benefiting from any of these entitlements? Are your parents? Thank a Democrat.
Now imagine life without them.
And before PE Barack Obama announced Universal Health Care, a Republican first proposed the idea: President Eisenhower. Smart man.
President Eisenhower also warned against the military-industrial complex. Is the whole world suffering from this unholy alliance? Thank a Republican.

Kelly
It is too late inthe evening to argue with you about why I’m a republican. So I am not going to try.
However, no I am not benifiting from big government. I want government out of my life as much as possible, I certainly don’t want them in my health care. Georeg Orwell-1984!
With government health care, first will go the smokers-to costly, then the drinkers, then the butter and egg lovers, then the meat eaters…you see where that this all leads? I want less government.
As far as welfare, medicare, etc… are concerned I’d like to see those as a charity maybe by your local churches or community centers, not a manditory cost of living. Just my own philosophy.
There is one area I would like to see the people/government regulate and that would be frivolous lawsuits, the bane of our medical system. I should add one more pharmaceuticals.
Kelly, my vison will never again be realized in this country, it is a very old-school ethic (immagrant) point of view. I wish for a time when families took care of one another and if they had something left they gave to the community. The government was for laws.
November 18th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
I believe that the Democratic philosophy is:
What’s good for the whole - is good for the individual.
I believe that the Republican philosophy is:
What’s good for the individual - is good for the whole.
I’m not arguing your point - just sharing mine.
November 18th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Hey Kelly,
(I’m datind myself yet again) It’s all Cool and the Gang girl. I respect/appreciate your party as well. I would like to add in regards to your posts (and I do read them as well as the links), I like the fact that you question everything, we need that in our communities/country. You are a patriot as well. Kudos.

There is one area I would like to see the people/government regulate and that would be frivolous lawsuits, the bane of our medical system. I should add one more pharmaceuticals.
Just to be clear….. if a medical provider messes up…. and someone gets damaged, if they cant sue then what happens to them? no one will pay for a mistake if they dont have to.
you added pharmaceuticals to the mix also… is this a bane of our medical system or should they be kept from law suits too? I wasnt clear.

Hi there!
#17 Elisabeth’s month of fame has ended like her Survival skit.
#20 You seem to speaking about people you work with & you’re not giving others credit, look past your small world & read, venture outside of your bubble. Get a grip Polls are a joke, come visit the real world, I thought you were EH.
#21 Point-well taken!!
#22 You are 150% about EH’s conversation with her kid because it back-fired: Her daughter cheered when President-elect Obama won & said: Mommy, Obama won & ‘E’ looked down at her-the kids said, but Mommy, who lost? Because ‘E’ talked so much about Pres.-elect Obama that’s the only name the kid knew. The View’s panel made her share it on The View & ‘E’ was pissed.
#33 It does make a difference about a candidate’s life-style & behavior because if that person is: Dishonest, a liar, cheat, a womanizer & can’t run his home or keep his fly zipped, that affects decisions & running the country. Be for real: If he’s thinking about, you know what, then he’s truly thinking with the WRONG HEAD!! Then you would trust him?? Sure you’re right.
Finally, McCain, Hillary, Huckabee & now, our foreigner Arnold S., etc. had so much to say, LIES, & now how far up President-elect Obama’s behind are they poking their snout?
P R E T T Y DARN FAR..right out of sight.
Talk to ya’
November 19th, 2008 at 7:35 am
You’re new, so I’ll cut you some slack. But don’t ever call me EH again!
I hope my experiences are isolated. I want women to support women, and minorities to support minorities…I know I do. I do know a thing or two about polls; I used to be a statistician. I think we need to dissect what happened with Prop 8.
I read everything I can get my hands on, and I watch endless documentaries.
And wouldn’t you know it…I have traveled a bit: Athens, Rome, Venice, London, Paris, Bremen, Hamburg, Toronto, Windsor, Kingston, Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec, New York, Buffalo, Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Tuscan, Boston, Miami, Daytona, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Jacksonville, Houston, Dallas, Brownsville, Waco, South Padre, Atlanta, Hilton Head, Hot Springs, Little Rock, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Portland, Nashville, Memphis, Tupelo, Salt Lake City, Missoula, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Washington DC, Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati, Detroit, Spokane, Merida, Cancun, Tijuana, and Monterrey…I’m sure I missed a few.
#56 Thanks June!

Wow was I vague or what! I was pretty tired last night. Anyway, I will be more clear now. You are right patients shoul be able to hold doctors accountable.
What I mean is that frivolous lawsuits (of all sorts) increase the costs of insurance. Bottom line I guess, insurance companies need to be regulated and watched very closly.
Pharmacuticals- should not be able to pay doctors for perscribing their products. I just feel that there is alot of shady business going on in that industry.
I know it sounds far fetched, but if the government is involved in our health care, It gives them more control over our daily lives. We all already use “discount” cards at the grocery stores and drug stores. So is it is a stretch for Uncle Sam to be privy to that information and compare it to our yearly check-ups and then prevent us from purchasing things that they deem bad for us. Can you picture it- you go to the grocery store and are stopped at the check out, “Sorry, you are not allowed to buy butter this month your cholesterol is too high!”
I know our system is corrupt now, I just fear it would get very “1984″ easily.
Too much caffine this morning…

#62, “I know our system is corrupt now, I just fear it would get very “1984″ easily.”
The Patriot Act was the very first step and it was put into place using our security as an excuse. I’d rather have complete freedoms and liberties without exception, but if someone’s going to be deciding for me, I’d rather it was about my health than my freedom of speech. Currently, any communicating you do can be recorded and used against you in any way the powers that be see fit. I find that to be much more frightening than somebody banning butter. I don’t care who’s in power, I don’t want anyone to have that kind of control, even “my guy”. So, if you’re worried about 1984, then you might want to lose a little sleep tonight, because it’s already here.

That is actually a pretty good point…. berndoubt tried to play the scare card…. but she is kinda scary
If you think about it, some of that actually goes on with the insurance companies….. they will refuse coverage if they think you caused your problem, or if it was pre-existing.
The difference is this, if the insurance companies do wrong, your only option is going somewhere else and all the money you paid is gone…. if the government is our “insurance provider” then laws can be passed to limit access to us…… remember.. we are in control of our government, no matter how much they dont want us to be.
remember…. Medicaid is government run health care… ask anyone on Medicaid if they would rather not have it.

Hey Roger
You are right about medicaid, I hear plenty of complaints about it, but they need the coverage.
All of this makes me want to move somewhere far from reach sometimes! LOL
#63 Yes I am very aware of the Patriot Act.

I guess my point was more along the lines of how we get “scared” when the other party puts things in place, but we forget to worry when our own guys do it. I don’t want the government making my health choices for me, but I don’t want them to have access to my phone calls and e-mails, either.
If you really want to get to the heart of the matter on health care, we should stop letting it be a for-profit venture. We don’t expect police or fire departments to make money. We pay firefighters and police to do their jobs, but we don’t penalize them for taking care of too many people or using too much equipment. It should be the same with doctors and hospitals and such. I understand that pharmaceutical companies count on making profits as a way to pay for new developments, but they also send salespeople into every doctor’s office and give away pens, tissues, and whatnot with their drug names on them, not to mention the millions of commercials on television and in magazines and papers. There are ways to make medicine work for people, not against them. Lawsuits are only a small amount of the expense in medical care, but I agree that insurance for malpractice has made it difficult for doctors.
Oh, and one more thing:
Booga! Booga!
