If you vote for Obama then you need to take a hard look at socialist Germany because that’s where you will put America…
The goal of Obama and the modern, “progressive” Democratic Party is to move the U. S. in the direction of Western Europe, the so-called German model and its “social market economy” where business is highly regulated as it would be in the next congress under democratic house committee chairmen Markey, Frank and Waxman. Business is allowed to create “wealth” so long as its utility is not primarily to create new jobs or economic growth but to support a DEEP welfare system. It’s a move to permanently tame the American free market model. The question is young liberals: Are the American people of a mind to throw in the towel on the system that got them here? The system the actually worked for Obama.

Helen McCaffrey of Women’s Watch Inc. on Gov. Palin
Posted: 30 Oct 2008 12:26 PM CDT
Helen McCaffrey is the director of Women’s Watch Inc., a nonprofit women’s advocacy group based in Cape May, New Jersey. She wrote this wonderful opinion piece for the Philadalphia Inquirer. You can email her here.
I cannot predict who will win the presidential campaign, but I already know who will lose big: all women.
I realized this when I saw a 20-something male student who attends a class in the community college where I teach, wearing a T-shirt that read, “Sarah Palin is a C-.” He wore it in public, in broad daylight, and without shame or even consciousness of what he was doing.
I took the time to advise him of the “error of his ways” and informed him of the consequences if he wore it to my class.
This encounter shook me right down to my socks.
Most of my adult life has been spent working for civil rights for all Americans, as a lawyer defending constitutional rights and now as a college teacher and director of a nonprofit advocating for the rights of women.
Not since I told myself I could lose weight on the pizza and cheesecake diet have I been so self-deluded. This election cycle has been like stepping on the scale.
It was the encounter with the young man that woke me up, but there were signs all along the campaign trail. First, with the candidacy of Sen. Hillary Clinton, who won 18 million popular votes from the people of the United States and was ridiculed, marginalized, and put in her place when she wasn’t even offered the vice presidency slot.
But the really big attack on women occurred when John McCain selected only the second woman in history to be on a major-party ticket. He chose a governor of a state critical to our energy crisis. She is a very popular governor with an 80-percent approval rate. She was elected on her own merit without previous political ties. She is her own political creation, not the wife, daughter, sister or mistress of a politician.
I thought Americans would be proud of her nomination, whether we agreed or disagreed with her on the issues. Was I in for a shock.
The sexism that I believed had been eradicated was lurking, like some creature from the black lagoon, just below the surface. Suddenly it erupted and in some unexpected places.
Instead of engaging Palin on the issues, critics attacked attributes that are specifically female. It is Hillary’s pantsuit drama to the power of 10. Palin’s hair, her voice, her motherhood, and her personal hygiene were substituted for substance. That’s when it was nice.
The hatred escalated to performers advocating Palin be “gang raped,” to suggestions that her husband had had sex with their young daughters, and reports that her Down syndrome child really was that of her teenage daughter. One columnist even called for her to submit to DNA testing to prove her virtue. Smells a little like Salem to me. I was present at an Obama rally at which the mention of Palin’s name drew shouts of “stone her.”
“Stone her”? How biblical.
All this is at a time when women are regularly being raped as they try to cross the border into the United States; bloody, broken women haunt the emergency rooms of hospitals; and abuse and disrespect for women and girls is rising faster than bank bailouts. That is the atmosphere in which people, including women, choose to attempt to destroy a woman who is a legitimate political leader.
Agreement on issues is not required, but Palin merits respect.
It is dismaying that misogyny and sexism are so excessively marbleized into our daily interactions that some of us cannot even recognize their existence when confronted with it or when staring at it directly in the mirror.
It is my fervent hope that those who purport to be intellectuals begin to engage in argument and not resort to their baser selves or the easy exercise of personal and biology-based attacks.
Mockery and vilification of women such as Palin should become just as taboo as race-based slams. Until then, women are the real losers.

To our Canadian Friends: Ella, Joey, and et al.
I’ve have read your well wishes to all of us and I wanted to respond.
Yesterday, I voted for Barack Obama, and I felt liberated. When I left the Board of Elections a man pulled up in his truck; he had Rush on the radio.
I remember when my mom was the most caring, selfless individual. She was a marvel to many: Virtuous, kind, giving-to-a-fault, honest, hard working and never wavering on her commitment to the 10 commandments. She’s still most of those things, but I hardly recognize her today since she turned on Rush. Little by little, she became suspicious, angry, and full of new ideas on whom to blame for something…whom to blame for everything. She started voting Republican, and started speaking out about the virtues of George W. Bush…even though her son was serving in Iraq…and nearly killed. She blamed her middleclass American neighbors for our rising taxes…and not Big Oil, Big Business, the Wars, Tax Shelters, Tax Cuts, Subsidies, War Profiteers or Corruption. She insisted that universal healthcare and Michael Moore were anti-American, even though she cannot afford to retire after years of working her fingers to the bone, because she cannot afford healthcare. She insisted, because Rush tells his audience THEY are the intelligent elite, that there is no such thing as climate change, even as the ice caps melt, hurricanes swell and numerous native species decline. In reality, it’s Big Business that doesn’t want you to believe in climate change. My mom insisted that free trade was killing America, but she voted for the Republicans that gave us NAFTA, GATT and a $1Trillion debt with China. She insisted that Sub Prime loans were the fault of the Democrats, and therefore, Democrats were the fault of the entire economic collapse of America…even though Republicans deregulated Wall Street, and Mortgage Companies, and have been running government for all but the last two years. My mom speaks out against illegal immigration with such distaste, I think she must have forgotten that I’m half Mexican with grandparents who emigrated from Mexico to work the fields in Ohio. She wants them all thrown out; she has no interest in reform.
I lost my mom, slowly, little by little to Rush Limbaugh. We lost America the same way.
I hate Rush Limbaugh. He got into my mother’s head and took her virtues and replaced them with anger and intolerance. Rush nearly got my brother killed in Iraq by insisting that this War was about Al Qaeda and bin Laden, that we don’t really know what we think we know, because this is all covert-Military ops, even as American Oil Companies bought up all of the Iraqi oil fields. And when American soldiers protested the War, he told them they were Phony Soldiers, and after all, they did volunteer. While Rush was protecting the interest of the Republican elite, I sacrificed my 15-year employment when I blew the whistle on corruption: Another tale of a Republican lobbyist and a CEO abusing his power. And thanks to Rush, ‘liberal’ is now a dirty word and I have had to defend my beliefs, my personality, my faith, my salvation and my intelligence for the last eight years. Rush turned Americans on Americans; encouraging them to point the finger in blame while Bush and his administration went unchallenged. I’ve never heard a single Bush-Republican say we might have made a mistake. That is why Elisabeth has become the target of so many frustrated Democrats.
Greed, Big Oil, Big Business, Wall Street, Decadence, Deregulation, Lobbyist, Special Interest and eight years of lies.
So I voted yesterday…and the man in the truck was listening to Rush. And I felt sorry for him.

Wow that op-ed piece was a great read. Very powerful, and should be considered by all. Thank you.

Hail to Germany!!! What will you say to your children and grandchildren when they ask you why they have to live in high rise two room flats that the government has provided for them (everyone paying the same rent because everybody shares their wealth), and they won’t be able to afford to travel out of the country to seek good, decent medical care because they aren’t able to get it in their own country. Your children won’t be able to open their own small businesses because government will tax them on (one way or another)on at least 50% of their income. None of your children will opt to go into the medical field. Why? Who would want to go to school for 8 to 12 years only to have the same income as his next door neighbor who didn’t go to college.
Socialist…you know the definition and you should be aware of what it means to the future of your children.
This is all about Obama’s affiliation with radicals and questionable people. It is all about no one knows who financed his college education and who he needs to pay back “in some way” for elevating him to the position he now has. Why don’t we know the truth about Obama? He is a “Prop” put out to fool the American people. He hasn’t completed not ONE YEAR as a senator…left behind virtually NO VOTING HISTORY and we are suppose to know who he is? He has a hidden agenda, young liberals, you haven’t lived long enough to understand what you will be doing to the United States of America and to your children. A vote for Obama is a vote for socialism.

Kelly,
My mother in-law listens to the right -wing parrots too. In any case she said Palin is “too dumb” and “McCain could kick the bucket at any moment and then we’ll have president Palin.” So she’s sitting this election out. My father in-law is an Air Force Vet, I talked to yesterday he shocked me by asking me to send him some info about Obama.
He watched his Infomercial and was very impressed. I told him there’s a group called “Republicans for Obama.” He said he was all set to vote for McCain until he picked Palin. He also didn’t like the type of campaign McCain was running. The attack ad’s and the Bill Ayers stuff was overkill. He’s a hawk and for him it’s all about National security.
October 31st, 2008 at 8:08 am
Bill Kristol, Republican, said to Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night that he believes Barack Obama will govern like a centrist. The rest of this socialist, red-baiting is crap that is being used to win an election. If people are scared, they will stop thinking. That is what the right wing is counting on all of the voters doing…walking into the voting booth with a healthy dose of fear.
Read things with which you agree and disagree. Open your mind. Don’t worry…it won’t fall out.
October 31st, 2008 at 8:12 am
I believe it is safe to say that none of you liberals really know who Obama is. He has been carefully groomed to hoodwink young America. I wish someone would take the time to list what they actually know about Obama…not what he says about himself but a history of where he has been and who was responsible for financing him along the way. Don’t tell me he got a free ride at prep school, college and law school just because he is black. No student loans? Who paid for his education? Aren’t you curious? What did he write his thesis on? Aren’t you curious? We know why he cannot get a secret clearance but we don’t know if he is actually an American citizen.

berndoubt,
I agree. Funny how the terror alert ticker went away after the last election. Did you know that all of the states that were attacked on 911 voted for Kerry. Seriously, they need to update their “fear game,” this 2008 and they’re still playing the communist card.
October 31st, 2008 at 8:14 am
Glad to hear it rain…my mom told me she would not vote for Obama…but she also told me she would NOT vote for McCain.
Pew Research Center: “Although the authors acknowledged some observers would use the findings to argue that the major media have a pro-Obama bias, they said their data did not provide conclusive answers. They noted that coverage of Republicans and Democrats in this and other recent presidential elections seemed to have MORE TO DO WITH THEIR SUCCESS than with their party affiliation.”

“Lawrence Eagleburger, who served as Secretary of State under George H.W. Bush and whose endorsement is often trumpeted by McCain, said on Thursday that the Alaska governor is not only unprepared to take over the job on a moment’s notice but, even after some time in office, would only amount to an “adequate” commander in chief.”

What is really sad here is that Sarah Palin has more experience that Obama whether you like her or not you can’t take away her experience. Obama hasn’t even completed his first year as a Senator. He would take the equivalent of an Ad Executive’s experience to the White House. And you feel safe with that? If Obama is out of the picture good ole Joe Biden steps up and America is suppose to feel good about that? This man who lied about the degrees he earned in college? Even Joe Biden said that Hillary Clinton would’ve been better on the democratic ticket than he would. Well, sometimes he tells the truth and sometimes he doesn’t.
It is scary when a vice presidential nominee has more experience in government than the presidential nominee.

Roger….I wouldn’t depend too much on Huffpo…McCain’s did not give money to Rashid Khalidi, please get your facts straight:
With the link to the IRI website that explains the whole thing.
“October 29, 2008
In the 1990s, IRI gave grants to the Center for Palestinian Research and Studies (CPRS) for polling in the West Bank/Gaza. The polls measured support for the peace process, for various Palestinian political groups, and for efforts to enhance governance in the West Bank/Gaza. At that time no other organization could credibly conduct polling in the West Bank/Gaza.
We understand that Rashid Khalidi was one of the many founders of CPRS, and we understand that he was for some (unclear) amount of time a board member. IRI did not in the 1990s conduct background checks of grantees founders or board members. IRI did on a number of occasions vet CPRS as an organization, including, as was our custom, with the Israeli government, and we were given no cause for concern.
We do not recall any contact between Mr. Khalidi and IRI, and there is no evidence that Mr. Khalidi benefitted in any way from IRI’s grants.
Other organizations that reportedly gave funding to CPRS include the National Endowment for Democracy, the U.S. Chamber of Commerces Center for International Private Enterprise, the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, the Japanese Embassy, and Germanys Friedrich Naumann Stiftung.
IRIs relationship with CPRS ended in 2000, and we understand that it no longer exists.”

June, I hope you find it equally interesting that John cherry picks the news media that he gives one on ones with, is given limited access to, and regularly shows contempt for the press.
In addition, he kicked Maureen Dodd off his plane

diane10…I couldn’t agree more. We do not know anything about BO…but we will soon if he is elected…our country will never be the same…our freedom lost…how sad…so many men and women fought for our freedom, and it could be all taken away. BO was groomed for this postition as soon as he graduated…and it’s very scary, and for those that don’t want to believe it…well I feel so sorry for you.

RELEASE THE TAPE:
From Gateway Pundit:
The LA Times is holding a video that shows Barack Obama celebrating with a group of Palestinians who are openly hostile towards Israel. Barack Obama even gives a toast to a former PLO operative at this celebration. If the American public saw this radical side of Barack Obama it is unlikely he would ever be elected president.
But, the media refuses to release this video.
October 31st, 2008 at 8:38 am
#14 diane10 To quote Joe Biden– “Are you serious? Is this a Joke?” Now you are concerned about the man’s college thesis? Is he really an American citizen?–
I ask is he really a human being or an alien from outerspace sent here to harvest us and plant pods in our system to start their own planet in a galaxy far away.
Certainly a black man raised by his white grandparents in Hawaii, running for President would not be questioned.
October 31st, 2008 at 8:40 am
diane10 Says: “Obama hasn’t even completed his first year as a Senator. ”
MY RESPONSE: Huh? Obama was a state senator for 7 and in Congress now for 4. Last I checked that means he has completed a first year.
Also, too,I’d take Biden to step in as president over ethically challenged Palin ANY day, golly gee you betcha.
October 31st, 2008 at 8:43 am
Funny…they have muzzeled Biden, he can only speak from a teleprompter…how funny…at least Palin is not being muzzeled, and she is bringing so many people to listen to her….they said Biden has very few….
October 31st, 2008 at 8:43 am
America isn’t lost…and we never will be if we continue to keep socialism out of America. We’ve been “in trouble” before and we’ve always fixed what was wrong and moved forward stronger and wiser. This economic slump we are in can be fixed by America without buying into socialism for America. What we don’t do is throw away the American Dream just because we don’t want to be labeled as “racists” losing sight of the fact that this man wants to model our country after Germany. I understand those who want to make the “feel good about yourself not being a racist” vote. But this isn’t about race. It’s about socialism…slowly but surely. Follow the money and who paid for Obama’s education and you will find out who he really is and where he will take America. After Obama…who will be next in the White House? A communist?
October 31st, 2008 at 8:47 am
misslingdow,
LOL! Some nut sent me an e-mail telling me I better get ready to pick out my burka if Obama wins. I wrote him back and said if it doesn’t come in lavender, I won’t be wearing one. They really believe he’s going to put his face on the money and all this other crazy stuff. All I can say is WOW!
October 31st, 2008 at 8:49 am

I love the smell of desperation before a Presidential election!!
Toss everything out there and let’s see what sticks at this point!!
Seriously you folks aren’t helping McCain maintain a shred of dignity. Of course he is not helping himself either, but how can he go back to Washington with his head held high after all of this garbage?
October 31st, 2008 at 9:00 am
Wow. That’s all. Just. Wow.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:00 am
#26 Pat, we have no idea how deep Obama is into the pockets of the radicals with whom he associates. We don’t know if they financed his education. What we do know is that he has run a brilliant campaign getting where he is today but I don’t for one minute think it was Obama with the brains to put it together. Obama is merely a “prop” for the radicals who believe their people need some justice. Spread the wealth, even the financial playing field, and rob our young people of any dreams they may have for tomorrow.
John McCain has the experience to run our country. He can fix America without resorting to changing America into a socialist country. We don’t need the drastic measures Obama is proposing for us. What we need is experience, common sense, and someone who is always proud of America. That man is John McCain.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:02 am
#31 Rain LOL –Well let’s keep an eye out and see if any fashion designer features burka’s for their fall line!!!
October 31st, 2008 at 9:18 am
All I can hear when I’m reading these untruths is, “I’m The Prince of Darkness and I approved this message.” How much hate and anger have to be in your soul to spew this crap? When it didn’t work to talk about taxes, the economy, and when even-handed Republicans started backing Obama, didn’t it occur to anyone to give up the ugly, untrue accusations?
Paging Dr. Frankenstein…your monster is out of control and we need you to subdue it.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:20 am
I’m very afraid of Sarah Palin. With her hands-on Alaskan National Guard commander-in-chief experience, she will use a secret military technique to kill McCain whilst seemingly innocently giving him a bear hug.
Then she will declare herself Queen of the land, restoring the form of government that Jesus knew. Every woman who has had an abortion will be gathered up and assigned as sex slaves for our brave soldiers.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:30 am
It is what it is. None of us know enough about Obama. Can’t dispute that. We’ll see on Tuesday if America is ready to throw everything we know away for someone we know nothing about. We will see if America is ready for this type of change.
Let us not forget Obama’s new idol and Monica Lewinsky and his other pets.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:33 am
4 Reasons I would never vote McCain:
We disagree on key issues (war, abortion, taxes)
His temper and communication level. He always acts like a schoolyard bully.
His selection of Palin
The complete lack of character he has shown in running his campaign. It’s a disgrace. I guess when you have nothing to stand on you try to kick the stool out from under your opponent. When given the chance to take the high road on something or the low road, his choice always seems to be the low road. That’s not who I think this country needs and would send a horrible message to the rest of the world on who we are and this isn’t the time to be doing that. I hope when he looks back on all he has done to spread hate this campaign that he feels genuine shame.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:45 am
diane10: You say “none of us know enough about Obama”. Please speak for yourself. You only know what you want to know, it’s obvious in reading your posts.
Instead of repeating these ominous boogie man theories of the ruin of America and throwing around “Socialist”! and “Communist” and all the other right wing talking points, wouldn’t your candidate best be served by talking up all the wonderous qualities of John McCain?
diane10: “Let us not forget Obama’s new idol and Monica Lewinsky and his other pets.”
MY RESPONSE: Obama’s new idol? Monica Lewinski? His newpets?? OMG, that is too funny.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:52 am
#41 There is no shame in trying to hold on to the American dream any way you can. The shame is in any presidential candidate trying to change the fabric of America by bringing socialism in as a solution to fix problems that have historically been cyclical in nature. We’ve experienced these problems in the past and we were wise enough and united enough to elect leaders who could fix them without resorting to remodeling America after a country like Germany. A “realist” will take any road that saves America from electing an inexperienced candidate who has not been honest with the American people. McCain reminds me of a mama bear protecting her cub.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:57 am
Mama bears aren’t equipped to defend themselves against the dangers of a pitbull. The Palin pick suffocated the cub.
October 31st, 2008 at 9:59 am
How sad, that Palin would shoot the mama bear and the cub.
October 31st, 2008 at 10:01 am
Diane10 - you make sooo many assertions with NO backup. You are entitled to believe it, but I don’t see any reason to believe. You never back it up with cogent reasons, just suspicions and misinformation.
PRIOR POST: I thought Americans would be proud of her nomination, whether we agreed or disagreed with her on the issues. Was I in for a shock.
RESPONSE: Why would I be proud that an incompetent woman has made become a VP nominee. And it isn’t just me who thinks she is too incompetent to be VP. So do several well-respescted conservative pundits - Peggy Noonan, George Will, David Frum, Christopher Buckley, etc. EH and others have crucified people who said that Obama’s race is a criteria in their decision. Yet if you substitute gender for race it’s supposed to the deciding factor.
Shheessshhhh.
October 31st, 2008 at 10:02 am
Diane, I am not enlightened by people that see only one road and stick to it no matter what. Who cling to words like socialism, questionable associates, etc. that have been dictated to them to spread around. I don’t hold it against other people when they think differently than me, but I do when they allow themselves to be ignorant and spread misinformation that they really know nothing about. It’s hard to respect a person that allows themselves to be manipulated that way and who isn’t a freethinker.
I’m sorry, but you just sound so robotic in your words. It’s like there isn’t a light on in you and I feel sorry for you. You seem so filled with misery and hate. In that way, I do understand why you’d vote for McCain.
October 31st, 2008 at 10:05 am
Correct diane10! People want answers about BO, he’s hidden his past so well. MSM is not reporting anything about him..and you darn well know they are sitting on so much they could report but they are too much in the tank with him. If MSM would have done their job and gave us Fair and Balance reporting, then I wouldn’t be having questions. BO is not going to answer them…but just wait, see what all comes out after Nov. 4th. Hold on to your hat!
Rush’s is starting…gotta listen….(wink, wink)
October 31st, 2008 at 10:10 am
“Rush’s is starting”
Garbage in garbage out.

PRIOR POST: None of us know enough about Obama.
RESPONSE: What do you want to know that you don’t?
Why do you think we know more about SP than Obama.
Have we heard much about Todd & Sarah’s association with an organization that H A T E S America (AIP) Or about her access to confidential information which she then disseminated? or about the house Todd built with his (unnamed) “buddies” that is over 2,000, over a period of just a couple of months, for which there is no paper trail/permits, during the same time period the Community Center was being built down the road; we do know that under his Wasilla administration the policy changed and victims were charged hundreds of dollars for the rape kit (which is evdience gathering and no other crime charged victims for evidence gathering), we do know she fired people and then appointed her friends. We know she not only fired a well-respected law enforcement officer (Monegan), but then trashed him, as well as the legislature with untrue allegations (a partisan witch hunt - ignoring that Republicans were in the majority on the votes and the vote was unanimous), we do know that conservative political punditS (Noonan, Will, Frumm, Buckley, etc) are not endorsing McCain, we do know that many editorials have cited Palin as the reason for not endorsing McCain this year (many of them traditionally conservative newspapers).

BO’s pal, Bill Ayres book dedication…oh yeah, he’s really remorseful:
“Prairie Fire: The Politics of Revolutionary Anti-Imperialism.”
“Now this book proved very difficult to obtain. Even in the New York City Public Library, one of the largest libraries in the world could not provide us with a copy of this book.
Now the book reads like a manifesto of the Weather Underground but the most shocking thing is on the dedication page. Mr. Ayers and his band of terrorists devote the book to, quote, “all political prisoners in the U.S.,” and the book then lists about 100 or so names.
Among the names they list a U.S. political prisoner, Sirhan Sirhan. That’s right. This college professor, who is just a guy from the neighborhood who never meant to hurt anybody, who bombed the Pentagon, the Capitol, New York City police headquarters, dedicated his book to the man who assassinated Robert F. Kennedy.”

I can’t keep up with this stuff. So the right-wing parrots always trash the Kennedy’s and now they are upset because Ayers dedicated his book to the guy who killed one of the Kennedy’s…

When I talked with my mom yesterday she mentioned the rumor that Obama was born in Kenya. But she expressed doubt, wouldn’t the Democratic Party have uncovered this? I said heck if it was true the Republican Party would have found it out.

BO won’t release his original bc…the first one he released was incorrect…they quickly removed it from the site…but BO won’t present an original…so until he does this…there are many questions if he is a US citizen…(oh, I know what is coming…MCCAIN was not a US citizen..Huffpo again)

It is scary when a vice presidential nominee has more experience in government than the presidential nominee.
Isnt it true that Palin has more executive experience then McCain? Does that scare you too?

OMG what is going on here?
October 31st, 2008 at 11:42 am
Pat Says:
“so until he does this…there are many questions if he is a US citizen…”
MY RESPONSE: Obama never took any birth certificate off his site. Just because you are desperate does not mean you need to continue to lie.
If it were true that Obama was not born in the US, McCain’s opposition team would have found it by now. That and the various security clearance, background checks, the fact that they have a person in the highest office on their side and yet NOTHING. Surely if something were there, McCain would have found it. I mean, McCain says he knows how to get bin Laden (he’s gonna follow him to the gates of hell, you betcha), so why wouldn’t he be able to challenge Obama’s citizenship?

Looks like obamas magic wand might be broken.
Check out foxnews.com and read “obama lays plans to kill expectations after election win”
I love this line: “The sudden financial crisis and the prospect of a deep and painful recession have increased the urgency inside the OBAMA TEAM TO BRING PEOPLE DOWN TO EARTH, after a campaign in which his soaring rhetoric and promises of “hope” and “change” are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy.”
Look at the reality of his PROMISES!!

I would totally wear a t-shirt that says Palin is a c**t. Where can I get one? lol. That’s what freedom of speech is folks and Palin has more than earned the criticism she has received.
‘Experience’ by itself is meaningless and not by itself proof of qualification. It’s what you were doing while you were racking up all the ‘experience’ that matters.

I think those accusing young people of not knowing enough about who they are voting for because they have not lived long enough is ridiculous. The amount of young voters going to the polls are astronomical, and you can thank Bush for that, for that is his legacy, he got people to vote. But do not assume that young people do not know anything, or do not make a difference. Young people were the ones that started all the changes in the 60’s with the protests of Vietnam, and I do not think they were wrong there. Young people are the ones being sent away to war, who are having a hard time getting jobs out of college, if they can pay for college, who will not have SS when they retire. They typically don’t make $250K or have money in the stock market, so the bailout and Bush Tax Cuts don’t help them. Maybe those are the reasons they are voting for Obama!

With his recent change from taxes only raised for more $250 thousand year, then to $200 thousand a year, and now it’s $150 thousand a year.
Why doesn’t this bother you?
He can’t make up his mind, and is just spewing words that sound good and appealing to get votes. But I’m sure he’s already working on his excuses and reasons.
shady shady shady…….

Yes, its just a word and you obviously do not like Palin. Yes, for now we enjoy the First Amendment, but really you would sell out like that, just to enphasize a political point. Don’t you realize woman are still fighting to make equal pay in the workplace, along with many other hurdles everyday to be considered equal and you saying that just negates our plight. Really!
October 31st, 2008 at 12:47 pm
#80 Duck is because BO walks and talks like a duck. So he tries to put “DUCK” tape on everyone that doesn’t agree with him…(wink wink)
October 31st, 2008 at 12:51 pm
The tax cut change issue I cannot really speak of, since I have not read enough about it yet. But, let’s assume it’s true. Number 1, I still do not fit into that category. If I did though, the reality is that something has to be done to try to fix this screwed up economy. Secondly, other issues I support Obama on, such as health care, education, the war, and abortion. Also, his sense of calm, drive, and ability to pull people together I feel is important right now. I am appalled by the last eight years, and I think more of the same is scary. There are many things about McCain/Palin that scare me so much that I could not ever vote for them. Lastly, let’s be realistic…. both candidates are not going to be able to do a lot at the current moment because of the financial debacle we are currently in.
October 31st, 2008 at 12:51 pm
#81 Great question.
And what about Universal Health Care? They say there are not enough Drs. and Specialists to cover everyone that BO wants the Govt. to cover for Health Care…so they said they will have to decide who will come first…probably the young and the elders will do without….Great plan BO!
October 31st, 2008 at 12:53 pm
#81 Linda covered that yesterday: “Obama never changed his numbers. The $250,000 number has always been for no tax increases — the $200,000 figure is for TAX CUTS. In a nutshell:
Over $250,000 – your taxes will increase by about 3%
Under $250,000 — your taxes are not increased.
$200,000 - 250,000 - no tax change
Under $200,000 - you’ll see a tax CUT”
October 31st, 2008 at 12:54 pm
yes, so let’s instead give everyone a $5000 tax credit for insurance… that will take care of all our insurance costs… sure.
October 31st, 2008 at 12:54 pm
And by taxing the 5% who are rich, we will all see them out-sourcing their businesses, so jobs will be lost, and everything we want to buy will increase in cost…so there goes our tax break! Come on…think about it…who really boosts our economy…???
October 31st, 2008 at 12:54 pm

I do find those links interesting as well, had not heard about that. The strangest thing was the reporter Maureen- dumped in the middle of PA! The article didn’t say why. Whatever, I’m sure they both have done it. I just had read that article this morning and felt bad for those 3 because they had been with them since the start and in the finale to be dumped must be a bummer. prior post: Isnt it true that Palin has more executive experience then McCain? Does that scare you too?
RESPONSE: Depends on how you define Executive Experience. If it means hiring someone to run the city shortly after taking office, I suppose so (and at a salary of about $50,000 which is more than 5x the amount of a raise she refused and considers herself oh-so-ethical for doing so.) If you consider “executive experience” as spending less than 1/4 of the time at the capital, “executive experience,” and further having your husband sit in on meetings when people expect to meet with you, then I suppose so. BTW, I think much work can be done telecommuting. I think 1/4 of the time is probalby WAY too little for a politician, who’s effectiveness depends to large degree on relationships and negotiating and informal networking and discussions.

PRIOR POST: I would like to ask all the obama voters here a questions.
With his recent change from taxes only raised for more $250 thousand year, then to $200 thousand a year, and now it’s $150 thousand a year.
RESPOSNE (to start with, I’d note that Obama supporters, althoug not here, include George Will, David From, Christopher Buckley, Peggy Noonan) Regarding you question, you have totally misinterpreted what was said.
1. Only those earning MORE than 250,000 will see any tax increase (it will be modest, and only on amounts over $250,000 in line with what was in place during Clinton years)
2. Those earning between $200,000-$250,000 will see no increase
3. The $150,000 was Biden giving an example, not establishing a limit - as has been clarified several times but some people WANT to believe otherwise.
October 31st, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Companies that plan on continuing to outsource will not receive tax credits. That is one of the main reasons they outsource. Our government encourages it. Obama plans to stop such practices and give tax credits to the companies who create jobs in the USA and those who don’t outsource.

Sarah Palin tripled the taxes on Big Oil in Alaska, and then gave all her people windfall checks. She did this AND kept Big Oil as a Big Ally.

#85 “They say there are not enough Drs. and Specialists to cover everyone that BO wants the Govt. to cover for Health Care”
Are THEY the same people who told you Barack Obama wants us to be socialists? Because THEY are wrong. There are 50 million uninsured Americans out of 305 million total. The 50 million still have some care provided, although it’s mostly through emergency rooms that have to accept all patients. So, by providing access to health care and check-ups, people will be healthier, emergency rooms will be less crowded and we’ll add some jobs in the health care industry. WIN. WIN. WIN.
Doesn’t it bother you that you live in a country that you THINK can’t provide for the health and well-being of all of its people? I think you’re wrong about that, but it would sure bother me if I believed it.
October 31st, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Providing tax credits for US companies that outsource jobs is a disgrace…I know they use the argument that the goods manufactured overseas are less expensive for American consumers to buy but if YOU DON’T HAVE A JOB because your job was outsourced you can’t afford the goods anyway.
If these billion dollar companies were made to pay their fair share then maybe the US government would have enough revenue so we wouldn’t have to borrow money from China.

The HuffPo has a story about Sarah Palin accusing the press of infringing on her First Admendment rights by characterizing her remarks about Barack Obama has negative attacks.
Does she not understand irony? She’s criticizing the press for criticizing her for criticizing Obama.

Also, someone explain to her that Freedom of Speech doesn’t equal Freedom from Critisism.

I received this in an email today. Just a little snippet of how the other side “views” things.
I’m voting Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.
I’m voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my horse.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
I’m voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
I’m voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing because they now think we’re good people.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius.
I’m voting Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution.
I’m voting Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my @$$ it’s unlikely that I’ll ever have another point of view.
A Liberal is someone who will give away everything someone else owns!

Don’t vote for the Democrats because they’ll:
* Try to convince the world that waterboarding isn’t torture.
* Disregard the Constitution.
* Disregard The Bill Of Rights.
* Spy on Americans.
* Leak the name of a CIA agent.
* Give big contracts to their buddies in Iraq.
* Send our troops to war without a good post-war plan and no matter what refuse to change course.
* Put their cronies who are unqualified in high level positions. Like a former horse show judge was in charge of FEMA.
* If a Hurricane hits they’ll leave you stranded on rooftops without food or water, but the President will fly over and look down at you and your family, while you drown.
What..the Republicans have already done all of that? Well don’t vote for a Democrat, because they’re Democrats.

PRIOR POST BY ME:
PRIOR POST: None of us know enough about Obama.
RESPONSE: What do you want to know that you don’t? Why do you think we know more about SP than Obama. Have we heard much about ………….
Holy Moly. Something new we didn’t know. SHe is afraid her 1st Amendment rights are at risk.
“If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations,” Palin told host Chris Plante, “then I don’t know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.”
She apparently doesn’t understand that
1. 1st A rights has to do with GOVERNMENT control of speech. The press is not the government. Does she not get the difference?
2. The 1st A was written with a few things in mind. One of the “biggies” was that the government couldn’t control the press!!! And now she is criticizing the press (that isn’t hte government) for criticing her - and she want’s to be a powerful person in the “government.”
And she doesn’t understand the Freddie Mac and FAnnie Mae aren’t paid for by taxpayers.
and that the VP duties and responsibilities aren’t “flexible” and can’t be expanded if she so desires - another major misunderstanding of the constitution.
Like I said, Holy Moly.

“In a
statement today, Berg said he is applying to Justice David Souter for an “Immediate Injunction to Stay the Presidential Election of November 4, 2008.”
“I am hopeful that the U.S. Supreme Court will grant the injunction pending a review of this case to avoid a constitutional crisis by insisting that Obama produce certified documentation that he is or is not a “natural born” citizen and if he cannot produce documentation that Obama be removed from the ballot for president,” Berg said.
“We must legally prevent Obama, the unqualified candidate, from taking the office of the presidency of the United States,” Berg said.”

October 31st, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Bill O’reilly spoke to this yesterday (again) on his radio show and said that BO was born in Hawaii and of course he has a birth certificate. He said “his people” checked it out. Now if BO will say this about BO then I am pretty sure it’s so.
October 31st, 2008 at 4:48 pm
#32, please tell me who?
Everyone who thinks Barack Obama has some secret agenda for becoming President need only look at the current resident of the White House. Bush’s agenda was to invade Iraq before he was even in office. Unfortunatly thousand of American lives were lost while Bush settled that score.
And if we’re talking agendas I think McCain wants to win this war because the last one he was involved in we lost.
October 31st, 2008 at 4:52 pm
As a Canadian, I know that having “social programs” does not lead to “communism” (as do most people with a shred of common sense). It leads to a compassionate society that cares about the less fortunate. I know that most Canadians are rooting for BO, and the Republicans on this blog are only confirming that opinion…you are some scary peeps. I thought I’d add to the outrageous fear mongering that is being tossed about.
October 31st, 2008 at 4:55 pm
BO can’t be trusted. He dissed conservative radio hosts. Word on the street is that he was recruited by ACORN. don’t tell rush.
“It gets me angry,” said O’Reilly. “I do talk radio and most talk radio is conservative-dominated ideologues; Kool-Aid drinking idiots. Idiots. Screaming at you that this is socialism, this is this, this is that. ‘It’s Clinton’s fault.’ It’s Clinton’s fault? He hasn’t been in office in 8 years. It’s Bush’s fault! It happened under Bush’s watch.”
“But let’s get back to this talk radio stuff,” said O’Reilly. “These idiots. I mean, they’re misleading you. They’re lying to you. They’re rich, these guys. Big cigars. All of that. ‘Yeah, oh yeah, my private jet!’ And they’re saying, ‘Oh, no! No bail out!’ Uh, uh, no way!”
October 31st, 2008 at 4:55 pm
Do we have to go down that road again #36? In regards to Iraq??? We are there, can’t go back to re-do it now…Blame Bush. This is a new election…get over it. Oh, and now it’s McCain’s fault we lost the Viet Nam war…omg….should we find someone else to blame while we are at it? Who should we blame WW1 and WW2?
October 31st, 2008 at 5:00 pm
omg…when O’reilly was on the view..he was a POS…now he’s king of radio…I can’t believe how opinions change so fast when someone backs BO
October 31st, 2008 at 5:02 pm
joey, maybe the Canadians are voting here too…Acorn probably sent them ballots too.
October 31st, 2008 at 5:09 pm
OK Pat#39 now I’m really confused:
Walk me thru this…
Re:Iraq war; yes America is there, put there by the lies of the Republican Party led by GWB. (Yes, yes I know others voted for the war based on lies perpetrated by the Republican Party led by GWB).
You are right, this is a new election, and you would be voting for the Republican Party …..because??? Oh yes and there might have been some human rights infractions as well. And you would be voting for the Republicans….because??
October 31st, 2008 at 5:10 pm
huh?
October 31st, 2008 at 5:11 pm
my huh? is for pat, not joey
October 31st, 2008 at 5:29 pm
I am voting against BO because I have too many questions. He’s hidden too much of his past. What has he done, except run for President after he graduated? Even MSNBC and CNN have asked that question and none of the journalists can name one thing. Too much unknown. You don’t sit in a church for 20 years and listen to someone say G_D America and not walk out. Not if you believe in America…which I do.
October 31st, 2008 at 5:30 pm
You don’t say you choose your friends very carefully and not be truthful about Ayres, Rezko and so on and so on.
October 31st, 2008 at 5:35 pm
I think Sgt. Joe Cook says it all…the most watched video!
October 31st, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Joey, you’d think it was just the scary peeps celebrating Halloween, but they’re like this every day!
October 31st, 2008 at 5:42 pm
If BO was running for anything but the presidency, he wouldn’t pass security…too many things in his past!!!!!
October 31st, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Oh yes, so true..the bashing of EH shows that…every day…day in day out…boring.
October 31st, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Well put #49
October 31st, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Well Pat, you’re right about one thing and I’m with you when you say BO has a past..
so back to my question…you would be voting for the Republican Party because??
October 31st, 2008 at 5:49 pm
I may not be voting for the Republican party…I’m just not voting for BO.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Pat#54 I see…thanks for the clarification.
Now regarding the statement from your post
#40 “In regards to Iraq??? We are there, can’t go back to re-do it now…Blame Bush. This is a new election…get over it
Pat I’d like you to tell that to my dear friend who’s son is no longer alive cuz she’s having trouble “getting over it”.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:09 pm
When BO said we were no longer a Christian nation, my mind was made up and I knew who I was going to vote for. I may not be proficient in politics but I do know scripture and when we succumb to BO’s propaganda, we might as well kiss our freedom goodbye.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Joey, I meant get over blaming Bush and why we went to Iraq in the beginning….no, we will never get over it and I’m sorry for everyone who lost their lives over there. My daughter and son-in-law spent over a year there and thank God they both came home, but who knows what they may deal with down the road….so I praise all our military and would never, ever say anything against them. We will never get over Iraq in that sense, or any war…I went thru the Viet Nam era, and seen many of my friends come home messed up or die. I just get tired of everytime someone slams MCCAIN, they bring up Iraq or Bush…that’s what I meant…never will we forget…just like 9/11
October 31st, 2008 at 6:27 pm

Well, I’m proud of the diverse cultures in Canada and enjoy the richness other faiths add to my community. Spend as much time becoming profiient in politics and other beliefs as you do understanding the scriptures and voila, BALANCE.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Joey
As long as I have faith in God, I don’t need to be proficient in politics…He will lead the way.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:41 pm
PRIOR POST: As long as I have faith in God, I don’t need to be proficient in politics…He will lead the way.
RESPONSE: Can you be specific about how this works and what you mean?
P.s.
Did it work for Jimmy Carter?
Did it work for George Bush?
Didn’t Jesus eschew involvement in politics? I assume that isn’t because politics is inherently bad, but because rewriting the laws in our hearts is not a political issue.

#59 Diamondlil
Would that be your God or my God or the people down the street’s God? Or maybe be it’s an all for one deal… wouldn’t that would be great.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:47 pm
diamondlil Says:
“When BO said we were no longer a Christian nation, my mind was made up and I knew who I was going to vote for.”
MY RESPONSE: Perhaps you should become a little more proficient in politics and at least be accurate in your assessments. While you’re at it, maybe you should practice a good religious trait and not bear false witness. Sen. Obama’s entire quote was as follows:
Obama, June 28, 2006: Given the increasing diversity of America’s population, the dangers of sectarianism have never been greater. Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.
http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_obama_say_we_are_no_longer.html
Wow. He’s including more than just one religion. How dare he!
October 31st, 2008 at 6:50 pm
There’s only 1 God…..but beware of the anti-christ (he will play a big role in politics)….
October 31st, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Dimondil so are you going to vote ? if it is all up to God then you can leave it to those who are into politics. does it not seem right that if you dont care about a subject and dont study on it then why should you have a voice in it or i should say want a voice in it when you dont care about all the issues ( not saying you dont it just you put it like you don’t care you just know god).
October 31st, 2008 at 6:53 pm
Edna: I’ve been voting for a week straight!
And tonight, when we went Trick-or-Treating, we grabbed handfuls of candy from the houses with McCain/Palin signs, and deposited them into the yards with Obama/Biden signs.
Redistribution! Redistribution! Redistribution!…don’t tell Rush!
October 31st, 2008 at 6:56 pm
At least you found Obama/Biden signs…there are none in our neighborhood..just MCCAIN/PALIN
October 31st, 2008 at 6:58 pm
diamondlil Says:
“There’s only 1 God…..but beware of the anti-christ (he will play a big role in politics)….”
MY RESPONSE: People practice different religions. How arrogant of you if you believe yours is the only path to salvation.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Good idea…Joy could use a side kick…maybe she could get rid of that sour puss look that Bill O accused her of having.
October 31st, 2008 at 7:01 pm
It’s BillO that has a sour look. Maybe he should get a side kick.
October 31st, 2008 at 7:03 pm
Don’t think he needs one…he did a pretty good job at kicking Joy in the side…lol
October 31st, 2008 at 7:03 pm
How surprising! The mention of God brings us all back together…I thought all of you had left and went trick or treating???? Stacie………you and I must not be worshiping the same God…(you mean there’s more than 1?)
October 31st, 2008 at 7:04 pm
OMG!!
Why oh why are Americans so afraid of Socialism????
Good Lord, you make it sound like the biggest, evilist thing ever!!
Come on, who are you trying to kid?
Life isn’t perfect here in Canada, a SOCIALIST country, but you could never, ever in a million years convince me that you have it better in America.
And I believe in loving the country you come from, and live in, so don’t take this as a foreigner running down your country. But this fear of socialism is ridiculous! You would choose to just let people DIE, because they don’t have health insurance or you deny them for whatever reason. If it wasn’t for socialism I would be dead and so would my husband, because he is disabled and we live on a disability pension.
It just blows my mind, this fear.
October 31st, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Pat Says:
“Don’t think he needs one…he did a pretty good job at kicking Joy in the side…lol”
MY RESPONSE: Oh my! He kicked Joy in the side? So not only is he a sexual deviant that had to pay off his victim, he’s also an abuser of women? And you think that’s funny? Wow.
October 31st, 2008 at 7:06 pm

October 31st, 2008 at 7:11 pm
so Joey…are you able to vote in Canada for BO??? Just curious???
October 31st, 2008 at 7:13 pm
diamondlil Says:
“Stacie………you and I must not be worshiping the same God…(you mean there’s more than 1?)”
MY RESPONSE: First you purposely distort Sen Obama’s quote. Now you are doing it to me. Please quote me saying I said there is more than one God.
You also assumed that I would be out trick or treating. Wrong — yet again. Not surprising.
October 31st, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Pat Says:
“Take a chill pill Stacee…By no means was that to be taken has a domestic violence joke…get real!!!”
MY RESPONSE: No thanks, I’ll leave the pill taking to you.
Hey, you’re the one that said BillO kicked Joy in the side…

October 31st, 2008 at 7:22 pm

Everyone sure got quiet all of a sudden??? Did the latest news take the wind from your sails?
October 31st, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Washington Times report:
“Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama paid a German company nearly $700,000 for staging, sound and lighting services at the time he delivered a speech this summer in Berlin and declared himself a citizen of both the U.S. and the world. “
October 31st, 2008 at 8:22 pm
And MSM was upset about spending $150,000 on Sarah’s wardrobe….Geez!!!
October 31st, 2008 at 8:24 pm
wish BO would have spread that wealth in the US. instead….
“The company was paid $667,082 by the Obama campaign in three disbursements in July and August, according to the FEC records. The campaign also gave another $9,018 to Bero Berlin — Eurolimousine, the records show. “
October 31st, 2008 at 8:27 pm
What the heck did he need lighting for…it was a day time speech??? Maybe so he could read that teleprompter…of course…I forgot.
October 31st, 2008 at 8:34 pm
“Here’s commentary from the Oct. 14th British Spectator that is an eloquent synopsis: “You have to pinch yourself — Barack Obama, a Marxist radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshiped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power anti-white racists, Jew-haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States. And apparently it’s considered impolite to say so.”
October 31st, 2008 at 8:39 pm
“Obama is NOT a NATURAL BORN citizen as required by US Constitution to be President.
Fact 1. Constitution Article II, Section II sets forth the qualifications for presidential candidates: “”No person except a NATURAL BORN Citizen”, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and have been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”
Fact 2.The US law states for a “NATURAL BORN” US Citizen for the time Barack Hussein Obama II was born between December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986: If, at the time of your birth, both your parents were U.S. citizens and at least one had a prior residence in the United States, you automatically acquired U.S. citizenship with no conditions for retaining it. If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16. http://immigration.findlaw.com/immigrati...
Fact 3. Obama’s father Barack Hussein Obama, Sr, was NOT a US citizen, he was a Muslim citizen from Kenya and under the British Nationality Act of 1948 Obama II would also be a citizen of Kenya.
Fact 4. Obama’s mother was only 18 years old at his birth, NOT the 16 + 5 = 21 required because his father was not a US citizen. Therefore Barack Hussein Obama II is NOT a “NATURAL BORN” US Citizen as required by the US Constitution to become the President of the USA!!!
Fact 5. Stanley Ann Dunham married Lolo Soetoro Mangunharjo a Muslim Indonesian citizen that adopted Barack Hussein Obama II and his name was legally changed to Barry Soetoro and spent his formative years in Indonesia and attended two Indonesian schools as an Islam Indonesian citizen!!! By Indonesian law it is stipulated that an adopted child has the same status as a natural child, and that his or her relationship to the birth parents is severed by adoption”. (So Barry is only the son of his mother because she was married to the adopting father Lolo Soetoro, therefore Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama II would no longer be a US citizen and is still a legal citizen of Indonesia.)
Fact 6. It is the responsibility of the presidential candidate to prove that they meet the qualifications of the Constitution, not the voters. So let Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama II supply copies of all the original documents that would prove he is a “NATURAL BORN Citizen of the United States of America” as defined and required by the US Constitution to become the President & Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and he has no allegiance to another country!!!”

“ZOGBY SATURDAY: Republican John McCain has pulled back within the margin of error… McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday, one day, polling. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all… “

PRIOR POST: Pat Says: “Obama is NOT a NATURAL BORN citizen as required by US Constitution to be President.
RESPONSE: Are you suggesting that despite the nastiest campaign in history, the willingness to reach deep into the past of candidates, that the Clinton campaign (and every other contestant in the primary) McCain campaign, RNC, DNC, and all those who hate Obama/Democrats have TOTALLY missed this until the 11th hour?
October 31st, 2008 at 9:22 pm
I know this is off topic but this is the only thread that still seems active and i was wondering, can Elisabeth Hasselbeck still vote even though she is registered with her old address according to that website?
October 31st, 2008 at 9:42 pm
PRIOR POST: (being a community organizer doesn’t count…anyone can do that)
RESPONSE: HUH?
SP’s executive experience involves hiring a city manager to manage the city of Wasilla - and still managing to leave the city she inherited with a balanced budget, with debt of several thousand dollars.
As governor, is spent 2/3-3/4 of her time away from the capital (we know because she charged the state for being away). Sure you can telecommute for a lot of things, but you have to be around enough to do the informal networking, supervising, etc. She wasn’t around enough. In addition, it appears here non-elected, non-appointed husband would sit in on meetings for her (to the surprise of the attendees). She hasn’t mentioned that Todd would be helping her exercise her executive duties.
And what is Todd’s resume? not much that makes him qualified to be an executive.
And what about hte experience of community organizers. The following were community organizers:
* Jane Addams
* Saul Alinsky
* Daniel Berrigan
* César Chávez
* Dorothy Day
* John W. Gardner
* Samuel Gompers
* Martin Luther King, Jr.
* John L. Lewis
* Ralph Nader
* Barack Obama
* Pat Robertson (A CONSERVATIVE REPUBICAN)
* Paul Wellstone (A SENATOR)
* Martin Luther - put together a band of followers around his protest against the Holy See
* Sam Adams - created the Sons of Liberty in Boston Massachutsetts in response to acts of British Parliament. Without it we would still be singing God Save the Queen
* Benjamin Franklin - created first public library system, first volunteer fire department in America in Philadelphia. Organized Continental Congress, founded the natio
* George Washington - put together a little group called the “Continental Army” to fight the British. Originally a volunteer organization known as the “Minutemen” in April of 1775..defeated world’s most powerful military by October of 1781 in Yorktown.
* Lord Baden Powell - After campaigns in Africa during the Boer War, put together a little organization known as the “Boy Scouts”, now a world wide youth organization for boys and young men.
* Juliette Gordon Low - founded the Girl Scouts of America to provide opportunities for girls and young women.
* Clara Barton - A nurse during the Civil War, created the American Red Cross - still today a volunteer organization that does phoenomenal work helping victims of natural disasters and home fires.
* William Booth - Founded the Salvation Army which takes care of the needy and provides shelter to the homeles
* Susan B. Anthony - led the women’s suffrage movement culminating in women being granted the vote in 1919.
* Mahatma Gandhi - organized a community known as “India” to rebel against British rule through non-violent protest. Freed India from colonial rule in 1947.

If It weren’t for Stacee, Kelly, red, berndoubt, Lajet, and Roger this thread wouldn’t be worth reading. It’s comical that the “Sybil’s” think we’re not going to see through their bs.
They get their talking points for the day and come to Winnie’s site and try to spread them like a disease. Luckily, the folks I mentioned have been immunized against the disease of ignorance and fear.
My advice to you all is to stop engaging them. It’s like when a child is rolling on the floor having a temper tantrum, just ignore them. These people aren’t worth the energy it would take to type a response.
Let them crawl back into their little dark holes of fear and stupidity. They wear it like a badge. Like Obama said the “GOP takes pride in being ignorant.”

“Former Reagan chief of staff Ken Duberstein told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria this week he intends to vote for Democrat Barack Obama on Tuesday.
Duberstein said he was influenced by another prominent Reagan official - Colin Powell - in his decision.
“Well let’s put it this way - I think Colin Powell’s decision is in fact the good housekeeping seal of approval on Barack Obama.”
Powell served as national security advisor to Reagan during Duberstein’s tenure as chief of staff.
Duberstein spoke with Zakaria about his final days in the Reagan White House. The Reagan official, along with Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Carter National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, also discussed the transition process to a new administration.
Watch the full discussion on the next administration this Sunday at 1 p.m. on Fareed Zakaria GPS.”
