I will miss Rosie also Winnie. As far as her replacement, I would prefer a host with an outgoing, comedic personality versus a journalist-type host. Out of the women you mentioned, I would prefer Megan Mulally. Yes, her voice was annoying on Will & Grace but her real voice isn’t bad at all. She’s pretty funny also. Or what about having a gay man on the show? That would definitely make things interesting but probably too controversial for ABC. Whoever gets the gig, they have some pretty big shoes to fill.

Great podcast. It’s hard to follow Rosie. Great comedic timing plus genuine passion. On top of that, she was wealthy and successful and didn’t need to bow to TPTB over a paycheck. She was perfect for The View giving the show a dose of female empowerment that had not been really tapped all these years, so ABC Daytime really messed up in now giving her what she wanted for one more spectacular year. Maybe they were too afraid of some controversy that would hurt their investment in the future but also wanted Rosie not to jump ship, so they stuck to a low number for 3 year and ended up with nothing but some really big shoes to fill.

I enjoyed the podcast. I agree, I will miss Rosie.

One of my favorite guest hosts has been Deborah Roberts. She is a journalist, a woman of color and a mom. Her sense of humor is warm and she is a witty, bright woman. I think she would be a good fit…she doesn’t seem to be afraid to speak her mind on tough subjects.

[...] Roseanne rumored to replace Rosie, while Rosie endorses Whoopi April 30th, 2007 by Winnie McCarthy According to the New York Post, Roseanne Barr is the front runner to replace Rosie O’Donnell at The View. Other possibilities, according to the article are Kathy Griffin, Whoopi Goldberg, Connie Chung, Joan Rivers, and Kathie Lee Gifford. While I talked about several potential new hosts in last week’s podcast, I didn’t mention any of these. [...]

  5. Pamela Says:

I bet my husband $100 that you will never take up this topic. It is has simply never been discussed and it will never be honestly faced, so I know that my $$ is safe. Someone on The View should address the fact that the goddess knows how many meals served in Washington are ridiculously sumptous while, only blocks away, there are children (and their parents, relatives, elders, and on and on!) are starving. How absurd that they feast on lobster while most of us think a fifty cent can of tuna is elegant. To add insult to injury, the television shoves their profundity down our throats on news shows in formats designed for us to infer that we taxpayers ought to be proud of our ability to “put on the dog” for royalty, stars, in other words people who are all more important than are we! Come on, they make it seem as though it should be forgettable that the government does not take care of our stomachs. That’s ok because we sure can feed those whom we already overpay now, can’t we? Congresspeople, any ones the President, his wife, and staff decide are “important” enough get royally fed at our expense. It’s hard for me to believe that Rosie hasn’t been brave enough to tackle this one. But then again, who has? Guess everyone’s hoping for a free lunch at the White House sooner or later. BARF If I were to go, I’d demand a peanut butter cracker. Wish you women would get the nerve to address this issue. If you want to speak about real stuff, Rosie, get cracking!
