Watching the View: Sherri Shepherd’s Favorite Blog

by

sherri-shepherd-come-back-little-sheba.jpg This week I had the chance to interview View host Sherri Shepherd. Some of you long time readers will remember that I did an interview with her last year when she was a guest host at the show. This new interview covered a wide range of topics and I will be breaking it down into several posts over the next few days.

Sherri revealed that after her now famous comments about whether the world is round or flat, she stopped reading the tabloids and blogs because all of the comments about her. Here is what she said:

I don’t remember the last time I picked up The Enquirer because now I am on the receiving end. When I was a legal secretary and we read the stuff and gossip about it, I would think, “Who is Michael Jackson, he doesn’t know me. I don’t know him, what can it hurt?” Now when I read stuff about me that is so not true and so not me and people are so vicious, I realize I am on the other side and it isn’t fun anymore.

I even stopped reading Perez once I saw myself on there. There were 800 comments using every adjective and I was like “This ain’t fun.” It’s amazing what people can say when their faces are not shown and you can just type. I still subscribe to People, but that is about it . . . I don’t read any blogs anymore or go on any site, because people can be really really vicious. I closed down my website because people were writing just horrible, horrible things.

She said that the reason that she still visits Watching the View even though she doesn’t go to any other sites is because being on the show “is like getting married and you never remember what happened on the day, so I go to get a recap of what happened.”

Sherri asked me to deliver this message to all of you, the loyal readers of Watching the View:

Tell everyone at Watching the View I said, “Hey!” and that I do read it.

On your site, there is intelligent stuff written. The people are not mean. People have an opinion and it is good stuff and it is bad stuff, but it is an opinion. Yours is the only site I read.

Coming soon Sherri discusses: her health, her son, her co-hosts, and reveals why it is they talk so much about sex on The View. Also upcoming is another message from Sherri to all of you!

Sherri is a woman of such fantastic spirit. I’m happy to hear she’s doing well and has shut out all the crap. Look forward to reading more of this. Thanks Winnie.

  2. Doug Robertson Says:

Way to go, Winnie! Great interview, she is a sweetheart. How many more chapters to the interview? I’m impatient. Just post the whole thing!

“She said that the reason that she still visits Watching the View even though she doesn’t go to any other sites is because being on the show “is like getting married and you never remember what happened on the day, so I go to get a recap of what happened.” ”

    Uhhhhh…ok.
    Wow.

Can’t wait to read the rest of the interview.

  4. ShannonP Says:

Great interview Winnie! I read all the posts on it and she came across very likeable.
(And Stacee, I get what she meant about getting married and never remembering what happened on the day…you are so caught up in nerves and adrenaline that it just goes by and the memories on it blurs. Or that is at least my take on what she meant)

  5. Stephanie Says:

Wow Sherri actually reads our comments, thats pretty cool. I’ll finish reading the interview and then comment more.

  6. Stacee Says:

    ShannonP,
    I think you are right.
I may have read the comment wrong. I thought she meant she reads the recaps DAILY to remember what happened at work that day.
In retrospect, I think it meant she treats the site like one would their diary. Like maybe for points of reference to recall what day what guest was on, what was said, etc(?)

Anyway, what an honor it must be for Winnie that Sherri reads this site.

  7. ShannonP Says:

Stacee, I can see why she would read this site too. Most times people are really civil and mature, even when they disagree with something. You don’t find that online much anymore!
On some of those gossip sites, the things they say are so vicious and mean spirited. Scary that so many people like that exist out in this world!

  8. Sandy Says:

I too am so happy for Winnie to have gotten an interview with Sherri. And I really have to thank Winnie for sharing it with us. I’m sure she is proud to know that Sherri reads her blog.

I too am proud of that, and I think we all should be.

I can’t wait to read more.

  9. Stephanie Says:

Winnie, I’m wondering how you came up with the questions/topics :)
