We’re Back!!

by Winnie McCarthy

Wow, what a rough couple of days here at Watching the View! On Thursday, the day that Elisabeth Hasselbeck broke down in tears, 451 Press decided to move all the blogs to new, faster servers. While this move will do great things to speed up the site, the timing could not have been worse, as I am sure many of you were trying to access the site to give your two cents on the issue.

By Friday morning the blogs were all moved to the new servers, but some sort of glitch resulted in this site remaining inaccessible. Any attempts to view this site caused people to be rerouted to another 451 Press blog. Additionally, if you view this blog in a feed reader, you were getting that other blog’s feed. I apologize for these issues as I know it was an extremely frustrating experience (for me too!)

As a token of my apology, I offer you the above picture of my adorable cat. Who can stay unhappy after a look at that face?

I have posted the recaps of Thursday and Friday’s episodes, although I don’t know if you all still have anything to say on the topics. You can find them below this post, as they are time-stamped as the day they originally occurred.

Hopefully you will see a change for the better with this site, as the move to the new servers should result in faster load times, which I know has been an ongoing problem for many of you over the past weeks.

Welcome back! Of all days for that to happen on, and I bet there would have been some great discussions on it here. Sorry for any frustrations you felt Winnie on the timing!

  3. MiamiVision Says:

Welcome back! Yesterday I emailed 451press to tell them that everytime we clicked on watchingtheview we would reach watchingtheoffice. They were very nice, wrote back to me immediately and said they’d been working on the sites and would fix all glitches. Glad to see WTV is up and running today. !!

    Enjoy your weekend(s)!

Thank goodness you’re back on, Winnie. I missed your website terribly! Sorry you have to work so hard to keep us all happy. What would we do without you to keep us babbling to each other? Love your cat. My yorkie would probably bark her fanny off at her (him?) and then go run hide. Thanx.

  6. Sandy Says:

    Glad we’re back.

I agree adorable cat, and a wonderful token of apology. Although you need not apologise, these things happen.

    Have a great weekend.

I figured the site crashed from all of those zillions of EH fans we always hear about, wanting to come here and defend her.

She is full of crap-o-la. Notice how quickly her tears dried up?

  8. Stacee Says:

Carmen, but they can talk about that and they’re gonna do it because they love each other!

  9. Alyce Says:

The kitty is adorable! My grown son watched the crying show with me, and said about EH “boy, she’s simple, isn’t she?” Yes indeed, that’s just one word to describe her. The show is a snoozefest and I don’t know why I keep watching. But, alas, I do.

  10. Stephanie Says:

“Carmen, but they can talk about that and they’re gonna do it because they love each other!”

Isnt it funny how she was able to say all that in the middle of her emotioanl breakdown.

Winnie, glad to see the site working again :)

the original idea of the view was different women with different views…meredith, star, joy, babs even debbie and lisa had different life experiences….elisabeth has a very sheltered view…a privleged white woman crying about the n word rings false…if she cares so much about racism maybe she shouldn’t have been so supportive of george bush whose family belonged to restricted country clubs

  13. Sandy Woodward Says:

Stephanie, geez I thought the exact same thing. Perhaps she is taking tantrum lessons from Grace. It was such a toddler moment a fit of a tears and a moment of clarity and then back to the fit.

On a serious note - Elisabeth is crying a lot and when she speaks it is a mile a minute I am wondering if it could be Postpartum or Manic Depressive. If she is doing this for pure childish attention like getting a hug from Michelle Obama or climbing onto women’s laps like Barbara Walters and Rose Rock, she is destroying her career.

  14. Sky Says:

Glad you are back! I thought you threw in the towel after the EH tear drama. ;-)

  15. Marthe Says:

So it wasn’t a vast rightwing conspiracy? And the TWOP site was closed down for irrelevant chatter. I did not grow up hearing the N word and I hope it sinks quickly back to the bottom of my vocabulary. But as a white Euro-American, it is not my place to tell blacks not to use the term, just as it is not my place to tell Chinese pals don’t use the term oriental or China boy.

  16. Erika Says:

Aahh, soooo cute. I take tons of photos of my cat (my dogs too), but my cat is the most photogenic(ha). You’re right- your cat’s face did make me happy :)

  17. Erika Says:

I just saw my name with the “We’re Back” and found it funny since I also just got back too and it looked like I wrote that. I’ve been off-line and out of town for 2 months and was just catching up in the archives. I was totally disconnected this summer- I didn’t even have basic cable! Looks like I missed some drama; I’m glad to be back :)

Thanks, Winnie for such a great site.

  18. rainlillie Says:

    Welcome back Erika!

  19. Stacee Says:

Welcome back Erika! And you too, Rain! :-D
