Whoopi Goldberg’s love affair with junk food
Whoopi Goldberg was featured on the cover of Parade magazine this weekend and penned a short article inside about her love of junk food. For those of you who have not heard of Parade, it is a short weekly magazine that comes with certain Sunday newspapers.
Whoopi said in the article that because of her love of junk food, she put on 50 pounds and is now back on her “meat-vegetable-protein-fruit” diet “in the way I’m supposed to have it.” She also admitted that she is a very finicky eater.

Thanks for the article! I thought Whoopi did Slim Fast to lose weight. Maybe she quit that when they fired her?

Thanks Winnie,
(although I’m only a few pounds over weight).
Ahh yea I kind of know a little about junk food myself.

Yeah, she was doing the Slim Fast thing (being a spokesperson), said some things about Bush, and was dropped by the company. She lost weight, but appeared on the commercials wearing an oversized shirt, so what was the point? After Slim Fast, she was representing another co. L.A. Weight Loss.

I just turned off the view, and it’s 11:30. This was the best place I could find to talk about it since today’s post isn’t up yet (for obvious reasons!) Laura Ingraham could make one nostalgic for EH. If the rules are that we need a conservative politico who KNOWS the answers, rather than a conservative who discusses and learns (and there are many of them), then I suppose EH is acceptable in that slot, but it grates on my nerves to watch it.
I don’t mind conservatives. I agree with many of them. But I don’t like discussing things with people who view it as sound bite opportunities rather than a sharing of ideas and trying to understand.
It just occurred to me. EH is often referred to as “the conservative.” I don’t think that’s a fair label. EH doesn’t bother me because she’s conservative. Joy somtimes voices conservative ideas. Sherri is conservative on many issues. EH isn’t “the conservative” EH is “the politico” slot, and “politico” isn’t appropriate for a slot on The View.

Laura Ingraham’s voice makes EH’s voice seem tolerable.

Today’s show was really awkward- it’s the only word that comes to mind. There is no chemistry with this group but it seemed to run out of steam and never got life again. It was strange

“There is no chemistry with this group”
True, it reminds me of a bunch of substitute teachers filling in.

I can’t wait to watch! I even posted a pic of a very young Laura Ingraham, which you can view if you click on “Elsie”. Here in L.A. the show starts @ 10,in another half hr.

Rain— LOL that is so accurate. I really wish Sherry would tone down the screaming when she does her specials. It’s too much. I thought it was fake phoney the Whoopie to Bawaa exchange that we love each other blah blah blah. This has almost become too painfull to watch.

“Yeah, she was doing the Slim Fast thing (being a spokesperson), said some things about Bush, and was dropped by the company.”
So may celebrities were punished for speaking out. I wonder if they feel vindicated since they’ve been proven right?

I did not hear Whoopi’s article being mentioned on the show. Usually BW brings it up. In more than one occasion, it seemed that they ran out of things to say. There was an opportunity.

I wonder why Babs didn’t mention Whoopi’s article.
One of the awkward silences today was attributed (by Whoopi, I think) to the writers’ strike. But in general it seemed very awkard today throughout the episode. The only good thing I can say about Laura is that she isn’t as bad as Ann Coulter. I would like them to try out Monica Crowley for a right-wing guest. She seemed somewhat civil when I saw her in the past on MSNBC. (Haven’t seen her lately, though. Isn’t she now on Fox?)
Sorry to be repetitious, but once again, here’s what Whoopi’s big “crime” was: She made some crude wordplay (Bush/bush) jokes at a John Kerry fund-raiser. The right wingers crucified her. It was unbelievable. They acted like she didn’t have a right to criticize Bush. It was a fund-raiser for Kerry’s campaign! The Democrats didn’t scurry to her defense, either, but left her hanging out to dry. She lost her Slim-Fast gig, her sit-com, and was ranted about almost as bad as Rosie has been. It was brutal. Really awful. I’m assuming that’s what caused the death threats she has mentioned.
I’m glad she is mentioning on the show this horrible treatment that she experienced. She brought it up today again, though Laura didn’t seem to think it was a big deal.
I know she’s been slow-talking, has handled the transitions in topics awkwardly, has looked bored, and hasn’t been sweet to Sherrie (though I think Sherrie can take care of herself just fine) … but I’ll accept all of that if it means she’ll continue to speak up as ferociously as she did today when outrageous comments are made (such as Laura’s ridiciulous crap about taking back the power from the so-called elites).

The same thing happened to Janeane Garofalo. She was set to star in a sitcom and it was pulled, because she made an anti-bush remark. I don’t know if she also received death threats.
